Azanor, where's the best place to ask a couple of questions about integrating with the API? I tried sending a message on IRC, but I never heard back, even though your "Idle time" (assuming that's accurate) was low.
Not that it's been that long since I sent a message (an hour?), but since you seem to be online at the moment I thought I would try here too.
The axe of the stream is also not ideal for the huge trees from Twilight Forest, leaves the top remaining. Also when I enchanted my axe I got bane of Arthropods on it?
Or the dark forest. Without it's "wood magnet" ability there would be a lot of missed logs sitting around. As well as not knowing where it's breaking from as almost every tree is connected by the branches.
Worked fine in TC3 though, I could cut down those massive twilight oaks (often had to repair or replace my axe while doing so) and the dark forest trees with no problem.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
My friends, I have found it! They key to counteracting the Thaumic Slimes' temporal abilities!
I had just finished another round of dueling the slimes in the pit I had built, and the time-warping effect had indeed manifested, although not to the catastrophic levels detailed in my last writing. As usual the effect had persisted for a time (a time, ha ha) after the last one fell. I had entered the pit to collect the tainted goo the slimes had dropped and meditate upon the wealth of experience I had garnered, and noticed that the distortion had cleared with unusual suddenness, just moments after my feet touched the pit floor.
Wait a minute, I thought...
The slimes were never affecting the flow of time at all, they were affecting me! The experience of fighting monsters must have some physical or metaphysical existence in the world, and such a vast quantity in one place was overloading my senses. The slimes were actually burying my mind in their dead!
Once I realized what was going on, a straightforward (albeit a bit macabre) solution presented itself. If the problem was that my brain was overwhelmed, perhaps using multiple brains would divide the load. As a side project I had been experimenting with reanimating zombie brains, having vague plans to use the technique to create more sophisticated golems, and I had two prototypes on hand. These I placed in specially carved niches in the pit, taking care to cover both the area where most of the slimes died and the area closest to my usual vantage. I then loaded up the crucible in preparation for round two (or round seventeen, depending on how you count).
It worked like a charm. Not only was my head clear and my aim sure throughout the battle, but afterwards I discovered that I can easily extract for myself the experience the brains had filched, merely by tapping on the jars with my wand. In fact, I may leave some of that experience for the brains to enjoy, until I need it later.
I could have sworn I heard two voices snickering as I left, but when I searched around I couldn't find anyone. Probably just the flux bubbling.
You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
The New Infusing Enchantment system is superb, very nicely done. But why does it have to eat the items? Couldnt you just keep them there as a "Focus" for the enchantment, and it only consumes experience and essentia. It seems a bit overkill to also have it eat an entire anvil just for repair, just make the essentia cost a little more fabrico But good job none the less
just a few ideas throwing around here...
how about adding staffs to Thaumcraft? they'd be an upgrade to the wands. the staffs would be made out of 2 wand cores, and 3 caps (one on the top, one of the bottom and one in the middle linking the 2 wand cores together) the staffs would hold 2,5x the amount of aspects that wands hold, and they deal more damage, or become more effective for what they do. on the downside is because the staff is larger then the wand, it'll be a bit slower to use.
I was also thinking of a new machine that'd be a thaumic fumer. if you place a jar of essentia in the thaumic fumer, it'll take that essentia and turn it into a gaseous substance that's spread over a certain distance from where the thaumic fumer is placed. you could for example use this with an essentia that'll help plants grow quicker. you just place the jar with essentia in the fumer, and it'll spread the fumes over the crops, making the crops grow faster. you could also use it with a jar of lux, to improve the way the arcane lamp works. you place the fumer near the arcane lamp, and put in a jar of lux. the fumer will then help the arcane lamp to light up the area. doing it like this will create light that's a less derpy when just using the arcane lamp, as the light of the arcane lamp can disappear with a simple block update in the area.
you'd also be able to put in a bottled pure node or dark node, which will turn the area into a Magical Forest or Eerie biome. ofcourse placing the nodes themselves already do this aswell, so the upside of doing it with the thaumic fumer would be that with the thaumic fumer the process of changing the biome is faster and will work with a bigger area. perhaps there could also be a pure aspect added, that's obtained from the ethereal bloom, and if you were to put in a jar of that aspect into the fumer that's in a tainted biome, the tainted biome will be cleaned up faster with a bigger range then using just a normal ethereal bloom.
perhaps you can also take the idea from Thaumic Tinkerer's Gaseous Glowstone/Tenebrae for the thaumic fumer. lux would bright up the area when placed in the fumer, and tenebrae would darken the area.
Is there some secret to doing advanced golems? I put all the ingredients listed on the pedestals, and placed a wooden golem in the center. I made sure I had the correct essentia available in jars nearby. But when I tried to activate the process with my wand it wouldn't start. What am I doing wrong here?
I had this same problem. If your golem in the center is not spinning slowly then use the bell to remove it and try again holding shift during the placement. My problem is getting a nice symmetrical pentagram for the objects. I had only minor problems with the bore and the harness but a giant mess on my first attempt with this infusion.

I actually like that it costs those items.
If your worried about the lack of Anvils, try upgrading your Pick and go mining for Iron. Staying at the right height, you'll get stacks of Iron with ease.

Verily, A pickaxe of the core and an infernal furnal will keep you in iron for a long while. Put Fortune 3 on it and you will be flush with diamond as well.
Before pipes, I had several factors that i had to consider for my essentia refinery. I had to worry about not leaving a bunch of jars with only a few drops of essentia. I had to worry about pathing for my golems. i had to worry about creating and setting up my golems. I had to think about how to keep the jars organized so I could find what I was looking for.
All those worries represented gameplay. Now, with pipes, all that is gone. I've seen two videos with essentia refineries set up and they are both exactly like mine. There is one solution, and everyone will find it immidiately. Essentia pipes are so strong that there are no challenges to using them. Challenges are good. I like challenges. I wish that coding effort had gone into improving alchemical golems, rather than making them obsolete.
Hey Azanor,
I was wondering if you might be able to introduce some way to accelerate recharging of repair-enchanted items. Specifically I'm looking for a way to make auto-mining with the arcane bore a more reasonable proposition, instead of having to carry around a bunch of Pickaxes of the Core on my hotbar while they recharge, that gets a little silly. One idea I had was perhaps an addition/attachment/alteration to the wand recharging stand that lets you use vis from nodes to repair items. Having a working recharge stand with nodes is a fairly late setup, so I thought that might be reasonably balanced.
I noticed to get silk touch through thaumcraft enchanting/infusion you need a cobweb. the only way to get a cobweb is by getting a book with silk touch, then adding it to sheers via an anvil. Tho if you got a book with silktouch could just save the steps and apply it to a pickaxe.

"I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong."
I made a pair of enhanced thaumium caps and crafted a wand using a silverwood core. As far as I can see there is no difference between it and the wand I made with regular thaumium caps. Considering the flux goop mess I made of my workshop doing this I expected a significant advantage. Is it only apparent on lesser cores or what?
By the way, the new infusion crafting of silverwood cores gave me horrible trouble. I would not have expected that degree of instability from a simple core.

I agree in a way. The tubes are actually almost identical to the TC2 style conduits and I am considering switching back to the limitations the conduits had - amongst them very limited "suck" range. In tc2 you had to set up pumping stations to move vis significant distances.
I'll see how the tubes play however before I go nerfing them too much.
Please don't nerf the tubes! I love the tubes! They've given my infusion room a cool steampunk-y feel and made everything work so nicely. My alchemy golem just wasn't working well at all. He took forever, and I know he's supposed to give preference to jars that already had that kind of essentia in them, but I kept finding 3 arbor here and 4 arbor there and a half dozen more over there. Very messy.
I think it has a larger search area then it had in TC3, although I haven't done any testing. At least you won't have to worry about wood for a while.
I remember chopping down a tree in greatwood grove and thinking it took a while. Turns out I cut down four separate greatwoods.
Haven't needed to chop down a single one since.
A PM on the forums should work.

Do parts of the modification code rely on chunk data/metadata?
Just have your friend download it and open a world via LAN or on a server. There's no need for a specific 'multiplayer' version.
