Call me stupid, but how do I find a Wisp in 4.1.0e? I hate breaking nodes to get essence. My MFR netted wisp won't spawn. Also my vanilla spawner with a wisp will not generate wisps either.
Mousing over the Primal Charm in my inventory when I noticed it had orange text beneath the name that read "Wait, did it just flash a seventh color?". Tried to watch it but I couldn't keep track of the colors. A moment later, the text was gone.

Hey Auric, you remember when I posted pictures of my tower you said I should make the floor out of greatwood and I replied I may make a mansion like that?
Guess what I did.
(Please note I've not done any decorating whatsoever on the inside yet, but the building itself is completed.)
Dunno why, but the wing stairs leading to a balcony just really appealed to me.
The central room. Note how well disguised greatwood logs are against a greatwood floor. This is why I didn't use them before, they're just so dark everything gets lost in them and can make a room feel really closed-in.
There's identical rooms on either side of the main room, with a similar sized room on the floor above. Those stairs lead up to...
The balcony overlooking the main room. The doors lead to the extra rooms, which link around to that door which connects to the outer balcony.
Once I get this place decorated with some plants, paintings, furniture and thaumaturgical goodness it should be very cosy!
Aracnoss etc.: it's been mentioned here before that Azanor has changed the mob spawning in a way that effectively breaks spawners and mob eggs for his mobs. Presumably this will be fixed eventually.

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.

Nice! It's always neat seeing other peoples builds. I'm not too good at making my builds look good on the outside. I just typically build small or medium size castles and they end up looking pretty boring from the outside. Perhaps it's time I spend a bit of time in creative to work on my building skills.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.

That's good to hear.., I knew the change effected eggs but missed the bit about spawners.
I love golems. Out of this entire mod, the thing I love most is the golems. They're cute, they're fun to make and fun to use, and the modular system for them is amazingly flexible and lets you do a lot. But unfortunately, there's a limit to what they can do - and specifically, they're... not very good at managing inventories.
I mean, of course, that golems don't work very well for item sorting and storage. Many other mods do this, and do it well - everything from RP2's old Pneumatic Tubes, Buildcraft's Pipes, Thermal Expansion's Itemducts, Extra Utilities' transfer system, basically everything of Applied Energistics... you get the idea. And the fact is that golems, despite having some dedicated inventory-work capabilities in the form of the Fill and Empty cores, are unable to match even basic functions of nearly all those other mods. And it's a little bit frustrating - what all those other mods have in common is that they're all tech mods of one kind or another, and while Thaumcraft does bridge the gap to one degree or another, the fact is that there's no good inventory sorting/management system in any of the major magical mods. I wouldn't even be too worried about it, if it weren't for the fact that Thaumcraft adds a number of ways to automate and manage other things - farming golems, the Arcane Bore, even animal farm capabilities with the new Lamp of Fertility and the new golem core. The problem is that once the golems or other things do their work, there's no good way to manage things centrally. (Transporting things any distance is clearly meant to be handled with mirrors, which is fine by me.)
The fact is that golems get a max of six slots to filter items by for item sorting, and that just isn't anywhere close to manageable, even for just handling vanilla stuff... and heavens forbid you're using more than just Thaumcraft. Nearly every other sorting system starts with 8 or more filtering slots and has fairly easy and inexpensive ways to do more advanced sorting (a prime example is Extra Utilities, which requires very little but can easily make a quick, reasonably intelligent sorting system.)
I would like to propose and request the addition of a new Golem Core - the Sorting core, which would be an infusion improvement on the Empty core. A golem with this core would need to be placed on an inventory, like the Empty core, and would primarily move things from that inventory to other inventories marked with the Golemancer's Bell. It would start off with eight or nine filtering slots, and the ability to utilize the Ore Dictionary (like the Entropy Upgrade currently allows for on other golems.) A Fire upgrade would give additional filtering slots as usual. An Entropy upgrade, however, would work very differently, giving the golem special rules for moving items.
The two primary (and most important rules) would be the Mod-based Sorting, and Item-based Sorting rules. The Item-based sorting rules would allow the golem to watch linked inventories, and place like items in those inventories, rather than automatically moving things. For example, a chest with iron ingots would receive iron ingots, while a chest with seeds would receive seeds, and another chest which had ender pearls and redstone dust would receive each of those. (This is basically the same functionality as the "Sorting Pipe" of Extra Utilities.) The second rule, Mod-based Sorting, would allow the golem to place items from a mod in a chest that contains items from that mod already - for example, a chest with a silverwood log would receive all the Thaumcraft items, while a chest with an Aum would receive all the Ars Magica 2 items. (Again, basically the same functionality as the Mod Sorting Pipe from Extra Utilities.)
I'm sure there could be other rules, but those two, combined with a reasonable number of filtering slots, would make a proper sorting and inventory management system run by golems possible. As things are, it currently is not - not unless there's something I've seriously overlooked in all this.
(Yes, I know I could just use one of those pipe systems - and I am, in fact, for my current world, but I am a very magic-focused player, and would love to see a way to manage all of this without resorting to the ugly snarls of tubes and pipes that dominate modded Minecraft.)

For all of you wondering about wisps not spawning, I'd be willing to bet that it has to do about how azanor changed the code on how his mobs work. I forgot exactly why, but you'll notice you can't get spawn eggs for any thaumcraft mobs anymore. This is probably why any wisp spawners and other methods of generating copies of wisps don't work.
Edit: Ninja'd. This is what I get for not reading all the posts before responding :/
Golems are my favorite part as well, And with this new research I can quickly get access to them in my new games. A sorting golem core would save on golems. As it stands now I have all my 'to-be sorted' items moved to a centralised chest I have under my storage room, then that single chest has maybe... 15 or so fully upgraded empty golems attached to it, each in charge of sorting 6 items.
Pipes would work better but I just love golems. I periodically have to check the chest for any items that aren't being sorted. Which is something else a sorting core would help.
I like having golems roaming around my house so much I actually have chests in the walls with empty golems attached that move the same items around and around, just so I can have little golems running around looking busy.

Have you checked the Nether? I'm not sure if it's the same in 4.1.0, but in 4.0.5 there were always wisps there.

Here are a couple of houses I've made. Both of these involve Highlands biomes and/or woods, but you could make both in vanilla worlds if you found the right spot.
This is the tower from my first "real" TC4 world, where I started out knowing what I was doing. That sort of pseudo-Japanese look has been appearing in my buildings ever since I watched "Land of Akane".
This one is built into the edge of a Cliff biome from Highlands. There's going to be another room added to that upper right corner if I can think of one I need.

This, so much. Item-based would actually work perfectly with my current storage system; all I'd need to do would be add a chest for the sort golem that I could empty my loot into, and occasionally check it to make sure I haven't introduced anything new.
You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!

Many of my houses have built I put into the side of the extreme hills. When possible I like to build a winding path up the side of them and build a bridge leading to another hill with my home. That pseudo-Japanese looking tower is pretty neat too. I like what you did with the nitor up there.
For what it's worth, I got that bug as well while making a thaumium wand cap. The Auram required jumped by approximately 50% at the set off, with the runic matrix spending a significant amount of time shuddering violently.
How can I cheat in the research for Brain in a jar? I lost all my research datas upgrading, but it's ok and I just gave them to myself giving the needed aspects, but... That one is a lost one and I can't find a way. .I write "/thaumcraft research jenniferstrife Brain in a Jar" and it says the research doesn't exist. How is it called?
Or, what should I scan to have it? I already scanned brains and also a Brain in a jar. XD
The most likely trigger is Exanimis or Cognitio. I think Exanimis is only found naturally in zombie brains, so if you've already scanned them then hidden research is the way to go. Find 9 hidden research fragments to unlock it.

Edit: Bah, getting side tracked. I came here to post that my snow golem isnt leaving behind snow on Great wood planks or Silverwood planks. But will leave snow on the log form.

That's because for some silly reason the planks are transparent blocks.

I've been experiencing the "infusions are more expensive for no reason" bug too.
the server I play on just updated to 4.1, so I was charging some thaumium caps to remake my ichor wand and I noticed it was asking for about 12 auram, my altar is actually capable of handling dangerous infusions, so it wasn't an instability effect, and I had plenty of essentia (I always keep a void jar of each type).
I noticed as well, there was a slight delay between starting the infusion and the essentia coming from the jar, almost as if it was having trouble finding the jar and adding the essentia penalty immediately
I've managed to track down this problem. I recent "upgrade" to how essentia sources are found has a built in 5 sec delay to prevent blocks spam-searching for sources. In some cases starting infusions would hit this delay period and think there isn't any essentia available. I'm fixing this by simply not allowing "missing" essentia to increase the overall essentia cost of the recipe.
Thanks,
IMarv

If you're using the Better Storage mod, that would be it. It hijacks the F key, you need to change it in the Better Storage config file.
