Agreed. I think a right-side-up pentagram (i.e. the Seal of Solomon) would be thematically appropriate in a magic-based mod. I suppose it could be like this (picture is attached):
Maybe an 8 sided star of some sort would be easier. Or some kind of Celtic knot like we saw in the golem preview.
Nice place. I'm still living in a hole in the ground cause my plan was to build a castle in the middle of a magical forest. Heck, I'd even settle for a regular forest at this point. So far my entire world seems to be nothing but savanna, plains and desert (I actually had to cheat in a silverwood sapling so I could progress in thaumcraft with essentia distillation). If we had a recipe for making sand I would likely consider making a desert home, but I don't want to rip up half a desert for all the sandstone. I still say the sand recipe should have been made into alchemical duplication instead of being removed completely.
Would you like some screenshots of the cool desert crater home I made once?
Forest (as opposed to jungle) and flat plains are about the only biomes I have no existing or planned bases in. My last base was built into a cliff, and my plans for the next two are another underwater one (stony and sullen this time, to reflect me diving into warp for the first time) and then an Icelandic turf hall.
Do not you think that laugh at a man who does not know your language is not cultural? I use three different translator and double-check the text that would be more accurate to write, and you just laugh. You could even write your opinion about my idea, but you did not.
As I recall, you were talking to Azanor. And codebracker and d95 were laughing at the troubles of a world divided by language, not at you personally.
If you want opinions on your idea, I think splitting the Thaumonomicon into two items and making one of them a hard-to-find treasure would be pointlessly annoying, especially if you like to keep multiple copies around like I do. There are better ways to encourage questing, such as the "scan to unlock" mechanic that Thaumcraft already has.

I provided all
You can combine 1 and 2 of the table and we will get infusions ordinary thaumonomicon
the idea of separation of parts I took from Gravity Falls (there were 3 diary)
Regarding pentagram structures for stability, my problem with that is that the 5-sided symmetry (usually linked to the 5 classical elements) doesn't really make sense in Minecraft (everything is square), or in Thaumcraft (6 elements plus taint). I'd go either for a 6-fold structure (the elements), 7-fold (+taint, but it'll be ugly), or 8-fold (actually symmetrical in Minecraft).
For 8-fold, you could have a taint pole opposed by a balance pole.
I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.

THe problem with 7 is that it's a ***** and a HALF to calculate in really anything.
Personally I'd use 12 point symmetry because then you can have 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10(ish), and 12 sided symmetry all in one structure. I suppose you could use 16 point and get possibly even more.
What about limiting taints to specific climate or biome, so that it would normally only spread on the biomes it's native to, with a different look to each biome- So a tainted desert might have a different tainted soil (maybe as some sort of powdery or waxy material rather than gooey), and will not spread to, say, the nearby jungle except for tainted mobs wandering off or tainted clouds (sandstorms?) drifting into it.
Also, what about high flux levels creating more strange, magical or plain weird effects, from random potion effects, lightnings, farm animals falling in love, higher tier golems bulling lower tier golems, cows giving birth to creepers, transmutation of blocks(fake or otherwise), sudden snow, crop and tall grass growth burst, or just any other funny/weird effect, But with the constant danger being that if taint does spawn, it will quickly eat all the flux to empower and spread itself?
Maybe have primary taint that spawn only in highly fluxed, aura that consumes all of the flux in the area to violently spread itself and grow, destroying more and more land to produce more flux until the taint heartland becomes so massive it consumes all the extra flux the active front need to spread itself further on non hyper-fluxed areas, especially if combined with the above idea so, as the amount of flux available to the tainted front shrink, it spreads as "lesser" taint that spread mostly in it's own native biome easily (maybe ending up in a vast taint lands that have an outer layer of semi-recognizable biomes that are tainted and an unrecognizable completely tainted center).
(essentially, taint has a certain flux level and will consume additional flux to spread itself. The destruction of normal land produces more flux. The additional flux will be consumed even if there is no more places to spread, so the ratio of flux used to spread to more lands to flux consumed within the tainted area becomes worse the more the tainted land spreads until there's practically nothing left)

So I shamefully admit that I'm just now getting a start on TC5 (got a promotion that consumed most of my free time, can't complain). Without spoiling anything, if applicable, is the whole sky going dark when I hold anything thaumy a feature? Has anyone else run into this? Should I just press on along and all will become clear?

Are you using any shaders, Optifine or WAILA?

Is it just me or anything involving vis is really punishing these days? say I enchant only one focus once and the whole chunk is depleted, and that's not talking about the other chunks around! And the flux produced, it's scary.
... I'm thinking about moving my buisness into alchemy
Actually, forget that part about flux, just remembered I've got six totems installed and working full time at that same place because of that vis problem.

Actually, with the increase to silverwood sapling drop rates, both flux and aura aren't an issue if you farm them. Ever since I've gotten a node of all 6 primal aspects I never really touched my totem.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.

Oh! That's something I didn't know about pure nodes, although I should have expected it. Thanks!
By the way, the thauminomicon says that the node eventually destroys itself through evacuating flux from the aura. Do you experience this effect? And if you do, do you just grow some more silverwood to replenish the old node?

Yeah, the node will slowly shrink as it destroys flux, but it's easy enough to grow more silverwood trees and nodes.
Hey, in TC5 how hard is it to start new crystal patches once you've found a starter patch?

The infusion recipe to make a shard into a plantable one is fairly simple. You shouldn't struggle.
Of course, in order for it to grow at all you'd need a fair bit of vis in the aura. Maybe lay off the magic for a few days and build a nice new house to let it develop a buffer.

May I have a suggestion on the Thaumonomicon's GUI?
Would it be possible to 'split' the rendering of the GUI into 2 'passes' - arrows from researches to other researches would render on pass 0, and research Icons/buttons would render on pass 1, so arrows would not overlap with researches?(or maybe it could be done in 1 pass, just by organizing everything on the GUI's Z level?) This is a minor suggestion, since it is not a concern for vanilla TC, and addon devs can always organize their researches in a way so that does not happen.
Here is a screenshot from my dev environment to show exactly what am I talking about
Notice the arrows from the revolver completely disallowing to see one of it's siblings(the left one).
For now I guess I'll just organize my tab. I guess I should have done it earlier

Also always just ignored slow shambling husks? Well.....
Hence why I turn the chance of that variant to 0.00. Those things are frikkin' cruel, I can't imagine what possessed Mojang to make them a regular spawn.

Or a FMA style transmutation circle...
8-star makes sense considering that high level infusion altars always tend to have octagonal structure.
I made a D flip-flop!
