Hello.
Sorry if this question was asked before. There was another texture for great wood planks in previous version of thaumcraft. They were very useful for decoration purpose.
Can you add a config option, or maybe additional recipe, for this type of planks? It will be great to have this type of planks too.
Those were arcane wood blocks, not planks. And I'd love to see their return - the white version Silverwood Planks provide just... doesn't quite feel the same.
Aye, it can be well worth smashing nodes you find if you're miles and miles from home and are unlikely to ever head out that way again. It's not like you'll be using them for anything else.
I'm kinda obsessed with doing everything renewably. I never break nodes if I can help it, except for the ones that form when I farm silverwoods.
I have already researched greatwood wand core but i cannot research silverwood wand core, why?
Because silverwood cores are infusion-crafted now. So are the elemental cores. You can't research them until you unlock infusion-crafting itself.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
If you open the mod-zip file then navigate to "\assets\thaumcraft\textures\blocks" you will find all textures used for blocks, including the "planks_greatwood.png". You can simply replace that file with anything you like (as long as it is a power-of-two-texture png), even the old planks, which can be most likely found inside the TC3 zip under the same location.
Yep. I knew it. But there must be a reason for such action from Azanor, as I think. Also, this texture can be used for another blocks too(or parts of blocks/items), so I prefer to ask before.
Since nobody has given me a usefull answer yet i post it again.
So i noticed some of my aspects have aura thingies hovering above them in my research table meaning they regenerate i think. How does this work? Simply adding more blocks that contain certain aspects doesnt seem to work.
There was a useful answer given, and I followed it and understand what ghost points are now and how they work even though a later post suggested it was useless. If you are looking for a more authoritative answer on them than the speculation in this thread, one isn't available.
Where??? I only see a stupid post about using the search function but that doesnt work.
The search function works. You are just lazy. I could answer your question but I don't like you, so... earn your answer using said function. That's of course if you really want it.
Seriously if you dont have anything usefull to say dont. I just wanna know whats causing the aspects to regen in the table since placing blocks in the vicinity doesnt seem to help.
What I'm saying is useful. I'm pushing to open your mind so you acquire the skills necesary to manage yourself so you can be truly free. Or I could be trolling you. In any case.., it's good for you... Sort of.
Putting blocks near the table causes the ghost points to regen - eventually. Putting more blocks doesn't add more points though. Your normal points that you gained by scanning aren't affected, only the "bonus" points, of which you get only one per aspect.
Its not usefull i already explained to you search doesnt work so stop pushing me to use search and give me a usefull answer or just shutup.
So much anger inside you. So much intensity. I can feel the Ignis and Perditio growing within yourself. To be a great thaumaturge you must achieve inner balance. Flow like aqua, let the ordo take control over your mind.
Corbent learn from this when you make a post this guy actualy helps me.
So thats clear but other than crystal clusters i cant get more of those points. Is this correct or am i overlooking something? Sometimes it takes alot of time getting the correct compound aspects like this since you have to wait alot for the points to regenerate and this feels as if iam doing something wrong with the research.
I thought I'd post here and hope someone could give me some inspiration.
So, to lay out the issue, I have a base on top of a mountain, and layout-wise planned to build my mob spawner room below the Ars Magica spellmaking altar on the right. The rightmost trapdoor in the grass leads to the mob spawner, the left one to a liquid essence pool below the centered Ars Magica nexus in the photo:
See those four arcane lamps on the center pathway? Their integral to my design, and create illumination required to prevent mob spawns far enough outside my warded stone perimeter to keep the hilltop safe. Unfortunately, they're close enough to my spawner room (which houses a dark nexus from Ars Magica) to light up the thing. I don't know the mechanics the arcane lamps use to detect light levels, but they apparently keep checking instead of just when placed. I spent 10 minutes breaking the lights that popped up over and over and they always come back.
The only other space on this level is my crucible room, storage room, and warded jars room.
So, I can't move it around on that level, above ground for a mob spawner is bad (and I have no room in my layout anyway) and lower levels of the mountain are full of rooms dedicated to other mods.
So, I'm wondering either
a) if there are any known tricks to keep arcane lamps from spawning additional lights
or there is a mod that has mob spawners that work in higher light levels.
I used to use the Soul Shards mod, but it's been changed in 1.6.4, and no longer has the awesome 5-tier spawner system. It also doesn't seem to work in high light levels anymore, and is prone to crashes.
So, does anyone know a solution, or a trick I haven't thought of to make this work? Remember using normal spawners it needs to be close enough to my base to run while I'm doing things at home.

I think the questions you're trying to ask are: How do I get more regenerating ghost points? and How do I make them regenerate faster?
The answer to both questions is: You don't. You will never have more than 1 ghost point for each of the primary aspects, and they reappear after being spent at the same rate no matter what is around the research table. As for this:
feels as if iam doing something wrong with the research.
IF you are depending on ghost points at all and not just using them as an occasional boost, you are. There are far, far better ways to get research points. In fact, all of them are better, including the deconstruction table.
I'm not sure, but Gaseous Tenebrae may be able to keep the spawner dark. Unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to turn it off, but if that's not a problem and the lamp isn't able to overcome it, it's a solution.
Regarding the buffer points (or 'ghost points' as some call them) in the research table:
Every aspect can be buffered. It's not limited to just the primal aspects, you can have all 50 aspects buffered at the same time.
Crystal Clusters can generate a point for each of the primal aspect, depending on which clusters you have nearby. Mixed Crystal Clusters can generate a point for all 6 primals.
Bookshelves can generate a point for all aspects, but can take quite some time before everything gets buffered.
Other things in the environment around the research table can give buffer points, as well. Pools of water can generate Aqua, pools of lava can generate Ignis, Nodes seem to be able to generate points as well. It can be a bit of trial and error to determine which things can generate specific aspects, with bookshelves being the obvious choice if you just don't want to mess with figuring out the specifics.
A buffer point serves as a +1 to any given aspect. This can never be increased, and only makes a difference when you've used all of the points you had otherwise. When you've used all the points for an aspect that's been buffered, you'll be left with an unnumbered research point, and after using that it will regenerate given time. This effect does not stack, so you cannot increase the speed of regeneration nor the amount you regenerate by placing more items around the table.
For example, having 3 Fire Crystal Clusters near the table will provide no advantage over having just one. The rate does not change, and you will not regenerate 3 points for Ignis.

Gaseous Tenebrae? I'm lost. I'd assumed it was maybe a tenebrae discharge from the crucible, but all I got from that was purple slime, just like other crucible mishaps.

Gaseous Tenebrae is an item in the Thaumcraft addon mod "Thaumic Tinkerer" by Vazkii. If you are not using it, go get it. Do it! Now!
In all seriousness it is a very good addon and I wouldn't say it upsets the balance, or at least not too much.
The gaseous tenebrae is like darkness in a bottle.

Meant to edit not quote. /facepalm

I'll write it down on my invisible notebook.

Didn't know that. Also didn't start experimenting with bookshelves until recently.
