AllTheItems is a simple coremod for Minecraft which eliminates the vanilla behavior of combining items on the ground into item stacks.
Why would you possibly want to do that, you might ask? Well, a practical reason would be in testing a mod. But the more likely reason is for nostalgia, since this was the standard behavior in Minecraft 1.2.5 and earlier. There's a distinct difference in walking through a bunch of items and hearing the rapid item collection sound, as opposed to picking up a couple or so item stacks. Some people found the older method more rewarding when mining, which this brings back.
As of v1.1, you can type /toggleitemgrouping into the console to toggle this behavior.
You don't need to ask permission to include this mod in a modpack. However, I do prefer that you include a list of mods somewhere on your site/page/thread with a link back to this forum thread, in case someone wants to report a bug.
You do not have my permission to re-host any of my mods in a way that you collect ad revenue for yourself from the download. I'm specifically putting this here because I know there are some sites which are doing it. Mod makers don't spend hours coding for you to profit off of them for doing nothing.
While I miss the sound, the grouping was introduced to reduce item lag
It definitely was, and I still remember a couple of mishaps where I'd log into a 1.2.5 server and find a mountain of items spilled in the floor from overflowing chests, leaving me at around 1FPS until I could fix it.
However, chances are, people who find a mod like this appealing are just going to be playing singleplayer with it, and I doubt it will ever be too much of an issue. Though I've recently considered seeing if I can add a /gamerule command to toggle it on and off while in-game.
Perhaps for that nice rapid item picking up sound, they could make it so that you still only pick up items one at a time (per tick) from a stack of items.
Well, well, this is neat. Stupidly though, I don't remember the non-stacking item entities of old. *facepalm*
Not too sure if I want to use this, as I have minor FPS issues as it is (170+ mods on an average system does that :P), but I shall give it a go.

I think I'll finally start using this, now that I'm playing a bit of vanilla (assuming 1.7.2 mods work in 1.7.4. I guess I'll find out.)

What about not combining items until / unless there are too many items in the world? Or rather: not combining items until / unless the server gets overloaded?
Though I could see this potentially breaking some things if implemented.
Hello, I'm experiencing an error in-game. I have set ItemGrouping to disabled, but it doesn't affect the way they group at all. If you need any other info, please let me know.

Hmm, it's possible that another mod is overwriting the changes. What other mods are you running?
There is much about the Beta versions I miss, and this is one of them. The Creeper Wars version of Extreme Hill is the other. BEAUTIFULBOUNTIFUL in 1.6.4 is probably my favorite place to play when in extreme building mode (floaters and arches and hangs, oh my!). The last thing I would wish to bring back is the extreme hills that soar above the cloud layer. It was so cool to stand in the valley and look up at a mystical crystal city with hanging tree gardens. Of course, that was also when trees could be grown on a single block next to a wall. Thanks for this little bit of nostalgia.

Well, I run at least 45 mods... but I do know one mod that might be conflicting it. Could it possibly be the Item Physics mod?
ItemPhysics interferes with it.
Made a showcase.
Thank you for the updated modpack permissions, FyberOptic.
