I just wanted to say good job on the mods. I tried IDfix a few months back because I was having issues with a mod that didn't use a config file. I found it worked decently well, but occasionally I found some issues with it. One time it was messed up the end world gen for Hardcore Ender but once I changed id in config to match what idfix set it to no issue. Overall, it was very useful.
I was even more impressed when I used IDFixMinus. That mod is just wonderful. It makes putting multiple mods together far easier and if it can't fix something I usually makes it easier for me to do it myself with the nice little conflict file. I especially like this version because I lets me adjust configs so I can use them on a server; something I doubted would have worked as well with IDfix.
Anyway, great job on the mods. I am sure I will be using both, more so minus, very often in the future.
Idfix minus borks Forestry backpacks. I assume it doesn't change the part of the config where it states what IDs are allowed into each backpack, resulting in backpacks accepting really random collections of items.
I have to report the same problems with Idfixminus. It seems BOP, Factorization, and Metallurgy are all screwed up, and even if all the id's are not messed up, every Technic Launcher download for my private modpack keeps changing around the id's for the people that are downloading it. The deal is its for no reason.
You need to include the "idfixminus.txt" from the basic minecraft directory as well - or the client will start doing it's own allocation.
Idfix minus borks Forestry backpacks. I assume it doesn't change the part of the config where it states what IDs are allowed into each backpack, resulting in backpacks accepting really random collections of items.
Just using it on Forestry doesn't seem to do that for me. Did you use idfixminus on a game you had already been running?
I just wanted to take the time to thank you immensely for this nifty tool. This saved me from having to spend ours changing and adjusting my ID manually.
Are you leaving IDfixminus or IDfix in the client or server AFTER you've done the IDs? Its only needed once, then you can remove the jar from both the client and server. If you take out the text file but leave the jar in, it'll regen your IDs.
I believe thats what I did, because Technic doesn't let you leave in any junk thats to go in the .minecraft, just the bin, mods, coremods, and config.
After some personal research, it seems that certain mods do not play well with IDFixMinus, including some more popular ones (florapack, etc).
This is because the mods don't actually register their IDs for some reason. I don't know why.
Problem #2.
Some other more popular mods (Twilight Forest, etc) enjoy the prospect of having their item ID configuration change itself on the fly by 256 units. I think this has to do with the old 256 block limit, and the mods trying to be nice by making sure we don't take up block space with items.
Suggested Solution: Don't rely on the mod alone. As with any modding task, get familiar with the "Conflict @" message in your loadup, and invest some time into a good spreadsheet. You'll need it.
I've noticed that even when a mod is assigned, IdFixMinus thinks the mod is somehow conflicting with itself, which is equal parts bemusing and frustrating. It did save me a bit of time adding some new mods to my already overflowing collection, and glad I had backups of my old config files via my corresponding server. Found this to be an awesome tool when used in junction with others.
If you already have mods, this is how I sorted my pack out in minutes:
- Run your game with idfixminus, to allow it to collect the IDs, and NEI.
- Add any new mods to the folder, and run again. Load up a new map, then open NEI options, tools, dump all IDs, close your game.
- Remove IDFix
- Run MineCraft ID Resolver (Found http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1886860), direct it to your config folder, have it scan the IDs
- Rename your .minecraft/dumps/items.csv to items.txt, and open it. You now have a complete list of used and unused IDs!
- Use ID resolver and items.txt to manually resolve any remaining conflicts
- Start game. Watch the Dev Console for any that slip through from mods not using proper config files (GunCus, Flans, Millenaire, etc)
- Manually resolve any remaining conflicts you see and enjoy your game.
can you add a config so the idfix can ignore an specified mod ID overwriting?
like hungeroverhaul usually replaces pam harvestcrafts items because of... something but its normal while i see idfix stops that so.
so that config should be useful if you would add it
I don't really need multiple backports (perhaps just really important bugfixes), but I'll see what I can do. (my coding skills are crap though and I can't find a tutorial to backport mods)
Let me know when you've fixed it for 1.5.2
Send me an email with the file attached or a download link: [email protected]
Thanks.
I will upload the actual pack once I get the modders permission, I might destribute the config..
thank you, and i am running the FTB master config for now, let me know if you can't find that link

A few of my mods are still conflicting, I checked the file and, guess what, it's a .jar.

With Ars Magica 2 and Minefactory Reloaded 2.7.4-255 with IDFix Minus I'm getting this crash log on boot. I've looked into a few more things and changed some variables I've come across a few weird data.
Once problem starts, removing ID Fix Minus will not solve problem or downgrading MFR to 2.7.3, restoring configs and starting without IDFix Minus solves it.

For some reason (in my case, when trying to make IC2 play nicely with butterflymania), Idfix works where Idfix minus does not. I'm running 1.6.4, so the line mentioned about making sure that Idfix is running doesn't appear in my forge log (I'm also running via the ftb launcher), but the file does not have a double extension (.jar.zip), and everything else is correct.
I'm fine with just using IDfix non-minus, but I thought it might be information you'd like. If you're interested, I'll happily reproduce the error so I can give you the associated logs.
Just got this mod and may sound like a noob but, what do the backpacks do. I tried to put things in them but it won't let me. Is it a bug because it only happens to work with the Miner's Backpack, but only with some stuff.

If you use this mod on an already created world, it screws up the configs of Forestry backpacks. Miner's Backpack is from Forestry. This mod adds nothing to the game world.

How do I know what Id's are open to switch these 20 id's to? That is really my problem..
Join us at our website: AIM Gaming
Hope it helps. Made running my 60 some mods easy.
can you add a config so the idfix can ignore an specified mod ID overwriting?
like hungeroverhaul usually replaces pam harvestcrafts items because of... something but its normal while i see idfix stops that so.
so that config should be useful if you would add it
Let me know when you've fixed it for 1.5.2
Send me an email with the file attached or a download link: [email protected]
Thanks.

Until someone ports this legendary mod I am leaving the minecraft scene. http://www.cosc.canterbury.ac.nz/greg.ewing/minecraft/mods/ArchitectureCraft/#mozTocId598776 I have watched too many legendary mods die and carpenters blocks sudden fallout out of mainstream made me cry. I realize the source is messy but some of the best mods from 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 were.
I'm fine with just using IDfix non-minus, but I thought it might be information you'd like. If you're interested, I'll happily reproduce the error so I can give you the associated logs.
