Are you still supporting 1.5.2.1? If so, I just had to reload a clean jar, and after adding back all off my mods, this one no longer seems to be working, although Forge shows that it's loaded. I actually repeated this entire process 3 times, but always got the same result.
The only change I made to anything was to downgrade OptiFine from D5 to D3 to resolve a problem with my shader.
Nice! I'm surprised this hasn't been done before, but I really like your implementation!
Thanks! And this mod has been out for awhile (it was in my other thread), but with 1.6 I had to change how it was coded and I figured it should get its own thread.

The 1.5.2.1 is a jar mod - it must be put into the minecraft.jar (which may or may not work with the new launcher).
Aww, I really liked noteblock GUI. Was helpful for songs and doorbells, but frankly who uses noteblocks that often?
Hmm, maybe if I get enough requests I can do something similar to this - make a "/noteblock" command or something. Yeah, you're right, it's a small niche and I'm sure there are better tools out there for noteblocks.
try {
Class altClass= Class.forName("com.mcf.davidee.paintinggui.GuiPaintingButton");
paintingGuiHelper(altClass, "KZ_WIDTH", 512);
paintingGuiHelper(altClass, "KZ_HEIGHT", 512);
}
catch(Exception e1){
FMLLog.getLogger().info("Davidees painting mod not installed. Skipping");
}
still apply to add compatibility ? even 1.6.2 seems to have it all wrong.
note that it is my fault, not yours, though it's still a riddle to me why it does that.
I know the answer is > it's not that anymore, most likely because of this in my log
2013-07-21 23:28:41 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] Davidees painting mod not installed. Skipping
Oops, you're right. Sorry I didn't tell you. When updating I rearranged the classes a bit - you can actually see the source code here. If you want, you can submit a pull-request that adds in some support for your mod/perhaps make use of the IMCEvent/Messages.
Anyways, the correct class name is now "com.mcf.davidee.paintinggui.gui.GuiPaintingButton".

Hmm, it's not working for me. No error message or crash or anything — a random painting just goes up as usual, with no selection GUI.
I use Magic Launcher, and tried loading the mod both ways (putting the file into Minecraft's mod folder, and putting it elsewhere and directing Magic Launcher to its location). Before you discontinued ModLoader support, I used that version (also using Magic Launcher) without any problems. I switched to Forge so I could keep using this mod — I made sure the game was running fine with Forge before installing any mods, and tried this one without any other mods. Still no luck :-(
I just wanted to put in my two cents that your mods, David, add standard features where they are otherwise lacking. I know it's a lot of work to redesign so many mods each version, but how about you wait a few versions to update lesser-used mods like AutoJoin and Noteblock rather than dropping development altogether? I had never even considered playing with noteblocks before your GUI, and your Autojoin mod seems kind of necessary for some of the extremely large servers that are public and open to new players.
Anyway, you've done great work and I'm glad you've decided to keep working on the Painting Selection GUI, as that is obviously one of the most useful mods for the most players. Just keep the idea around to maybe update AutoJoin and NoteBlockGUI for Minecraft 2.0 or the like. I certainly haven't found any other mods that reproduce either functionality.
Alright, so is everyone in favor of the new format? Also, I'm probably going to switch over to my GUI library - it will require an extra download, but it will add in much-needed scrollbars.

It is no longer a jar-mod, so it cannot edit base classes (it's not a coremod either). Thus, I couldn't add that functionality in - instead, use "/painting" to edit a painting.

There is a much better Noteblock GUI mod. As for AutoJoin, I'm going to work on it, but it's going to take some time. It will no longer be a jar mod, so I need to rework the disconnect/reconnect detection system.

i think i'm having a compatability bug or i missed a step somewhere, using this mod and paintings++, the paintings are the ones from paintings++, but in your gui they are different ones that i have never seen before? when i select one it picks the coresponding painting from the paintings++ texture, but i dont know which ones im clicking xD
No problem! I know how you feel - that's exactly why I made the mod
I dropped Auto Join + Noteblock GUI and decided to split the remaining 2 mods into different threads
The only change I made to anything was to downgrade OptiFine from D5 to D3 to resolve a problem with my shader.
Minecraft 1.12.2 / Forge 14.23.4.2705

No idea, report it to Subaraki.

Yes, I suggest you upgrade to Forge
Hmm? You mean be compatible with Extra paintings?

It has been done before, he's been doing this mod for a long time
Yup
Anyways, do you guys like this format better? Each row has a specific painting height
