Install Minecraft Forge (look elsewhere for a guide on that), then place the downloaded DayZ jar file in the .minecraft/mods folder just like any other forge mod.
Why can't I make a dayz server? If I run my server it crashes.
Provide a ForgeModLoader-server.log from your server folder or we have no idea what's causing it.
I'll be away for the next week so if no other team members can help you'll have to wait until then. An update to 1.6 probably won't be out until Saturday at the earliest as well.
Stop treating mod devs poorly. These people mod as a hobby or as a service to the community, they don't have to take your suggestion and you are not entitled to anything from them.

ok looks like a great mod but whenever i install the version of dayz for 1.5.2 i get black screen. im using latest build of forge if thats the problem culd u please recomend the version i shuld use?
There seems to be a bad glitch (at least I hope it's a glitch) when you die from thrist, you are in an infinite loop of dying and if you lose all of your stuff, how are you supposed to get to your water if even looking around you die in two seconds?
Also when using this for SMP, the host's HUD works just fine but I have to depend on the little warning about my thrist getting high to take a drink of water.
Since our 1.6 update isn't released yet you'll have to use 1.5.2. All you need to do is install forge on both the clients and the server and place the DayZ jar in both the client and server's mod folders.

I'm working on recoding the mod which will add many new features along with having less or no bugs. I can't give an estimate on when it'll be done.
