This mod brings sponges into your minecraft. The original mod is from andr3wrulz. Although it is a complete rewrite, the unpowered sponges' behaviour is close to the original mod. All sponges are fully functional in Singleplayer and Multiplayer (SSP & SMP) game modes. This means: The powered sponges now are working in Multiplayer and have a "brain". All sponges only put back what they sucked in.
From the following video I don't understand a single word, but I like it.
Some powered sponges nicely arranged around a pool
The Mining Sponge: Mining with style
Not disabled anymore by default. If you download the
Ever felt annoyed because useless cobble, dirt and gravel filled up your inventory?
Now there's the time for clean mining.
Never again bring anything back to your base that you don't want to have.
Recipes:
NewSponge (sucks water)
the black block is black wool
Powered NewSponge
Obsidian Sponge (sucks lava)
the black block is obsidian
Powered ObsidianSponge

Dual Sponge (sucks water, lava and obsidian)
Powered DualSponge
Mining Sponge (sucks grass, earth, stone and gravel)
1.3.6 for MC 1.6.4
Made the mining sponge fit for to be used in the nether. It now places clearblocks (like the other sponges) to block fluids from leaking into the gap. It sucks netherrack, lava and soulsand. Lava and soulsand can be switched off in the config individually.
1.3.5 for MC 1.6.4
1.3.4 for MC 1.6.1/2
1.3.3 for MC 1.5.1/2
Fixed: Powered sponges did not remove additional clearblocks (see 1.3.2) when off or broken.
Fixed: Powered sponges did never update.
1.3.2 for MC 1.5.1/2
Heading over to a more relaxed versioning system. The same mod version is good for different MC versions. Don't misunderstand this: The 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 version are not compatible, they are compiled against different MC versions, but the code is the same and the WS version is 1.3.2.
Fixed a clearblock-replacing bug.
Fixed a logical bug.
New clearblock-fill mechanism: Before, the clearblock was only put there, where the suiting fluid was. Now the clearblock is filled into the whole cube where the sponge ranges to. This gets rid of leaking in fluids.
1.3.1 for MC 1.5.2
Same as 1.3.0
1.3.0 for MC 1.5.1
All known bugs fixed. The healing sponge is not needed anymore (hopefully!) but still there.
Jumping to 1.3 because the whole mod was restructured. The sponges are no more "blocks", but "blockContainers". Now they can save their Content using TileEntities. This means that a powered sponge can put its content back into the world even after a server restart (SMP) or after restarting Minecraft (SSP).
1.2.6 for MC 1.5.2
Same as 1.2.5
1.2.5 for MC 1.5.1
SMP crash bug fixed. Sponges now "remember" what they sucked in and only put back what was sucked in. New healing sponge was introduced while bugfixing. Recipe: Sponge + red dye on top of it.The healing sponge only sucks the "clearblock" which is filled into the world to block fluids. Powered sponges don't put back their content after restarting Minecraft.
1.2.4 for MC 1.5.2
Build with Forge 700 for MC 1.5.2.
Nothing did change. It is the same source as 1.2.3.
1.2.3 for MC 1.5.1
Made the base class newSponge inheritable.
All other sponges are inherited from the base class.
Added dualsponge and miningsponge.
Added config for the range of each sponge.
Added config to allow mining sponge.
Added config to allow powered sponges.
Added config to disallow versioncheck.
Installation:
This is a Forge mod. Have Forge installed and running.
Drop the zip file into your mods folder of minecraft.
Good to know:
Switch your Mining Sponge on!
The mining sponge is not allowed per default. If you want it, you will have to change a setting in the config file and restart minecraft.
# Do you really want an overpowered artifact? Default=false(no!)
B:"Allow Mining Sponge"=true
Be careful when using it, it looks harmlessly but is dangerous near lava. Have a dual sponge at hand.
Active Sponges stop fluids
If you clear a lava pit with an obsidian sponge and think, now you can fill in some water then you're completely wrong! When a sponge is sucking there is a new clear block filled into the world which is *not* air. This new block hinders all kinds of fluid from breaking into the soaked gap. You may try your luck using the healing sponge, which overwrites those clear blocks with *real* air blocks. But then any fluid waiting to brake into the gap will do this instantly. Healing sponges may be dangerous to your health!
Making a "sleeping" sponge suck again
Situation: Two ore more sponge's areas overlap. You broke one, now many clearblocks are gone and water leaks in. How to tell the other (now "sleeping") sponge which should stay in place to soak up now? Eventually, it will soak up after a given (random) time span. But this can take too long.
To update a sponge quickly just break a block or put a block immediatly adjacent to the sleeping sponge. It will wake up and update at once, clearing all suitable fluids in it's range.
Each of the six sides of a sponge will wake the sponge up if a block is broken or put on it.

I (Konitor) am the legal maintainer of this mod at the moment. If the community agrees that I'm gone forever after some months of waiting the community may elect a new modder. I don't want anybody to make money from this mod, take parts of the mod and *not* open the new source to everyone.
I didn't want an underwater base, but suddenly had one! Either stop the underground farm half-finished or have sponges. Thats how I found them and then started modding.
Hi Andr3wrulz, glad to see you here.
Yes, it's all the starting push. In Germany we say: "New brooms sweep well" (Neue Besen kehren gut).
This means, that after a while... you know. New brooms become old brooms. :))
Ok, I think I've found the bug(s). Fixed the faulty replacement of this.clearblockid with workingsponges.clearblockid which was intended to be used for initialization only but was used all the time. Fixed logical replacement bug which showed up when using multiple sponges with overlapping areas.
A new version will be released tomorrow, I think.
Going to bed now.
I've uploaded a new version "1.3.2" for MineCraft versions 1.5.1 and 1.5.2. Besides the fixed bugs it annoyed me that the sponges did let fluids leak into their range. This was, because they only stuffed clearblocks where the suckable fluid was. Now the whole cube which is in range of a sponge gets filled with clearblocks.
No fluids may ever again leak into a sponges range, as long as it is active.
The "After I break the sponges the water refuses to flow." bug, of course, is fixed, too.
Great mod. I use the powered sponges to make a somewhat toggable entrance to my underground base. Makes living underwater so much easier. Good job, and keep it up!

Another mod I took over from Andr3wrulz
PaxleCraft Paxles from vanilla materials, repairable, renamable, enchantable, SSP and SMP
And some mods which I made myself
Vertical Cut - The world in slices. Looking for diamonds.
Rotten Recipes - Make ingots from armor and make leather from rotten flesh or books.
Sorry for bad English, my first language is Spanish.
Yes, it's all the starting push. In Germany we say: "New brooms sweep well" (Neue Besen kehren gut).

I understand. The paxles are more intersting than these awesome sponges.
Thank you for reviewing my other mod!
The video is now on the opening page of the other topic.
Which version do you use? SP or MP? Does it help if you place a healing sponge?
