Well, since bug reports have slowed and it's been a while, I decided to finally push 3.3.7 as a stable release. As always, let me know if you find anything game-breaking.
I don't anticipate the mod "dying," but I have no plans on even attempting a port to 1.8. The source is available, and anyone that is up for the challenge is free to try porting it. I enjoy fixing bugs, tackling performance issues, doing other maintenance, etc.. But rewriting 1/2 of the code because Mojang wants to transition to JSON objects isn't my idea of a good time.
You and 50 other modders, people are getting kinda selfish with the 1.8 requests.

No wonder some people had said that 1.8 would be skipped entirely in favor of 1.9 (which contains more fixes and finished features), and a lot of modders are still struggling to port to 1.8: https://redd.it/3075nn
Mineshopper, I wholeheartedly thank you for making this mod. As a last resort, I think you should also consider skipping 1.8 and take a deserved break. I admire the persistence of Minecraft modders because If I were a one, I'd have burned out with all these recurring mod-breaking updates.
So it updates at 1.7.10 till a way is found. Till then you can play 1.7.10 with et futurum, by ganymedes, to have 1.8 stuff in 1.7.10.
And 1.9 stuff too. I have it installed with no regrets since I have no plans to update to 1.8 specially because the mods that keep me playing MC are still on 1.7.10 and some of them were abandoned. Playing plain vanilla Minecraft would last for a few weeks for me.
That link pretty much sums up the mess involved in updating this mod. It's all custom rendered using hooks that Forge inexplicably removed. If they were still there, most of the headache could be avoided. If 1.9 somehow addresses this missing functionality, it may be worth the effort to port.
So what I'm gathering is that a lot of the problem with mods updating to 1.8 isn't actually Mojang's fault, but Forge's, in removing the access to the rendering that Minecraft itself could still support?
The only things I have trouble with are the stairs, which not only don't work like vanilla stairs, but also don't seem to exist in all vanilla shapes, and pressure plates. Since I've been using my latest collection of mods, pressure plates tend to float one block above the block I place them on. (For the record: I still love this mod. )
Sounds like you're using a buggy version, I suggest trying the latest. All stair combinations should be supported, in addition to placing them on their side to create columns.
Hi i love your mod and i would like to use it in 1.8! but as far as i know i cant find and download jar files to download for 1.8.:-( I have seen your websit and started to look for a way i keep convert the 1.7.10 mod to 1.8. Hope i can help.:-)
No extra slope shapes planned as of right now. The image suggested would be a new type of slope. There is still one unresolved texture bug with existing slopes, and one shape in particular uses an approximation for collision, so... still work to do there if I intended to work on slopes at the moment.
[p]Try Et Futurum by Ganymedes if you want the blocks; it adds tons of stuff from 1.8 (and 1.9!) to 1.7.10 [/p]
[p]you got a link for this? would be good to add here so people wanting to move forward but cant because of awesome mods like this not moving forward, can have an alternative [/p]

never take unfair treatment, if someone is treating you badly, and you can not resolve it, leave, you are better off with out someone in your life that abuses you no matter how they try to invalidate your concerns or feelings. No one has that right, only you get to chose how you feel about something.

By adding Et Futurum, the only thing 1.7.10 is missing from 1.8 is the Guardian mob, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that get coded in at some point too. Seriously.. I don't see why 1.8 is such a big deal with people. Is it Newest And Shiniest Syndrome? There is some neat stuff being worked on for 1.8, but also note that these projects have been in the works for a long, *long* time and still are not released (and are already out in some form on 1.7).
I wouldn't even consider playing a version of Minecraft that didn't have Carpenter's Blocks.
There's more than the guardian mob in 1.8, there's bore blocks, banners, a ton of bug fixes, performance updates, bunnies, new potions, and more..
And most of those are also provided by Et Futurum, as Xeronut said. The only things which probably aren't, other than the guardians, are the bug fixes and performance updates (and even one bug has been addressed; the helmet layer transparency thing). And the skins are provided by another mod, Skinport.
You should probably add Carpenter's Picture Frame into the mod. And put a customization block for this Carpenter's block too.
What about Bibliocraft and its paintings, frames, and painting press? There's a..."framed" frame as well, which is basically just Bibliocraft's way of having a block you can add any other block's texture to, in this case a picture frame (you have to use a block to add the block you want the texture of, but the end result is the same).
Is anyone else having the issue of not being able to modify carpenter blocks? I can't place blocks in them or modify them with the hammer. Tested with pressure plates and normal carpenter blocks. Using the latest version.

The only bugs I know of currently are cover block lighting not having any effect (glowstone dust works fine though), and block permissions always being enforced. One has been resolved, the other is a work in progress.

I would enjoy this too, but at least they don't turn into pink and black squares like with Forge Multipart.

I can give it another look some time and see what I can make out of it. No promises though.

SO is this mod updated to 1.8? Just curious as I'd love to have 1.8 blocks and this mod.
