I absoloutly love it. Very no-frills, and something that a lot of people could take advantage of. Well done.
I will make a suggestion though - Make it so that the hammer stays in the crafting bench when used, to mass-smash coal. Putting it back into the crafting bench for each individual coal is a bit annoying.

Are you using any mods that modify crafting? With either normal OR shift-clicking for crafting, it stays in the crafting table for me.
Hold on, I think I realized what the problem might be.
Wouldn't The Recipe For The Hammer Conflict With Balkon's Weapon Mod's Recipe For The War Hammer?
Adding a compatibility check to the startup for the next version of the mod. If Balkon's Weapon Mod is installed, the recipes for my hammers will invert upside-down, so both can be crafted.

That's a great idea. What do you think about also doing 2 chunks + 1 stick makes 1? It wouldn't be as efficient sticks-wise but it would be craftable in the inventory 2x2 grid.

Interesting! I would love more uses for it though- It doesn't have to be too strong. What about something liiike, you can use a hammer and an ingot of iron to reduce it down to 6 Chain Links, which four together in a square makes Chain Mesh, used for Chain Armor, sense Chain Armor isn't naturally accessable and is somewhere between iron and leather? What about putting it in the crafting table with brick or stone to get usually uncraftable textures like the circular sculpted stone brick?
Also, is it just as durable, or more durable than a pick? I would be kinda sad to have to use more than I have to to make a regular pick with one more function. Personally, I would find it funny if you could disable Silk Touch on the item simply due to the fact that you are smacking stone with a hammer- it's not an accuracy thing.

That's certainly an idea, I'll have to think about that. As for the circular stone and such, I have plans for a Chisel item that will server similar purposes, if I decide to implement some of my other ideas I may just rename this mod to something else and combine them all together under the same title.
As for the durability, the Hammers are the same durability. I understand not wanting to use one more resource for just the coal-grinding, I'll consider increasing the durability or offering some other balancing factor.

How about it being worth an Axe for damage? Or a higher natural efficiency for it's extra cost? I know if you added a higher efficiency, a wood-tier hammer would be my new starting equipment.
And ooh! Chisels! If you can, I would appreciate if you could make sure it doesn't conflict, or even has compatibility with Tinker's Construct's chisels, but I am pretty sure simply due to the fact that T.Construct uses it's own separate crafting system, it won't matter. Maybe if you add the Chisel in, other than it's sculpting purposes, you could have it be a very low efficiency pick that has Silk Touch naturally, making Glowstone and Glass more easily harvest-able, without making it immediately broken when a player runs into Spawners?
Also, sorry if I butt in too much, I totally want to use this mod for future playthroughs and a series me and a friend are cooking up.
OH! One thing that I would love that would make it SO useful if you put it next to railcraft or throwable bricks! Allow a Chisel to take appart Brick blocks for bricks. It might not be worth quite as much to people with only this mod, but some players would love it. Maybe I am overexcited, I'm sorry.
Let's start with how to craft the Hammer(s):
Each Hammer can mine just as well as its pickaxe counterpart. However, that's not all the Hammers can do. Observe!
Mining coal ores with a Hammer doesn't drop Coal, it drops my new Coal Chunks!
Each Coal Ore drops 8 chunks. Each Coal Chunk burns in a Furnace for 1 use.
This means you are still getting just as much raw Coal power as you would if you mined it with a Pickaxe, but you can be more efficient with it!
This isn't all, though, if you go to your workbench and use your Hammer on some Coal or Charcoal, you can smash it into small chunks!
Or, if you need large coal for other uses, you can combine 8 Coal Chunks to receive 1 Coal, or do the same with Charcoal!
NOTE: THIS IS A SHAPELESS RECIPE

Awesome! Thanks for the showcase
Looks like you're just getting started with youtube and minecraft stuff, good luck!
Just a few little notes, your video is a bit quiet, and the chunks are equal to one piece of coal
