Once again, this mod excels - the printing press in incredible, and something I've wanted in vanilla for some time.
Forgive me for asking, but are any servers running this mod currently? If so, could you point me in the direction of it's thread?
I believe there is a few public servers with BiblioCraft, but I am not sure of any myself, perhaps someone else will speak up here and share some links.
Nuchaz, i have one idea with Printing Press. let it copies the enchanted books to blueprint. After we can put blueprint in enchant table and use XP for enchant. Аs a result we obtain a copy of original enchanted book.
Sorry fo my bad english.
You'll be happy to know I actually do have some plans related to enchanted books and printing presses, a bit different than what you describe, but I think it will work out great.
Seems like an awesome mod. Tried it on my server but since I'm running a 1.4.7 server it didn't have the printingpress and a bunch of other things I looked for. Also, with Twilight Forrest it didn't open the UI for the cases, it opened Twilight Forests ui instead, Same UI for everything. Sadly,.
I guess this is the problems with MC updates. I can't update since MCPC+ isn't stable for 1.5.x yet and half the mods isn't updated either. :/
Hmm, that is odd about the gui issue. I play on both a 1.4.7 SMP server and 1.5.2 SMP server, both have twilight forest installed and neither has the issue you describe. Neither runs MCPC+ either, so I don't know if that can contribute. Usually when something opens the wrong GUI it is an indication of a conflict of some nature. Are you getting any types or errors or messages? Is it the same case if your running an SP world and not on an MCPC+ server?
Yeah, I do agree that the pace at which Minecraft updates is a bit too fast for the modding community. It seems to fragment the community every update. But I guess, nothing we can do but go along for the ride.
This mod look really neat and it's pretty much exactly what I've wanted for a long time. Something nice tough, would be if the name of the book/item showed up when you hover over it. Overall very pleased
Actually, I think you will find that BiblioCraft can do just that. Though, Steve's vision isn't that great, so he requires reading glasses. Though if you have optifine, there is an issue with text rendering that I can't resolve, so the full effect of text can only be seen without optifine.

I will try it on SP. I don't have any conflict that I can find thought. EDIT: I actually only tried it in SP because I didn't want to mess with the server before I knew how it worked. So SP is tried and that's where I got the "conflict" or what ever it was.
Oh well. I keep messing around with it. I'm great at messing around
The only solution to the fragmented modding community would be to make updates for older versions of MC as well, and that is to much work for almost anyone. Greatest problem thought is that some modders abandon their mods so it never get updated. It's hard to update a a world filled with biomes and things from a mod that never made it to the new version.
But I love this mod, well, the parts that work for me
EDIT 2: Strange. I tried installing the mod again and this time it works. Shows the correct UI and all. Don't know why, don't care either, just gonna enjoy it.
I would really love to see some sort of pedestal that can hold a sword or really any other tool vertical. I would love to see it sword in the stone style or even floating or rotating depending on how server intensive that would be. Could even add beacon style lighting. I love this mod so far and the direction that it is going.
Found an issue with the reading glasses. Im running forge 7.8.0.684, village info 1.0.0, bibliocraft 1.2.3, MineVideo 1.0, and rei's Minimap 1.0. all mods are 1.5.2 compatible, but the issue with the reading glasses is that its not showing the text infront of the items. eg the ink remaining on the printing press i can see the text but i cannot read it because its behind the press itself. text isnt showing up at all on other items that should show text.
EDIT: I also found that with the armor stand that the helm (i used a diamond one) at certin angles dont render fully. i get close and the whole back of the help vanishes but i move slightly to the left and its back.
Excuse me mod creator, I have noticed that the Bibliocraft Reading Glasses and Enchantment are incompatible with Optifine. No text will appear. I have tested this and without optifine, it worked perfectly. Is there any way you can fix this?
Looks weird quoting the post below in an edited comment above lol but,...
Yes i can double this result it is optifine that is causing this issue with the text. but ill add that the text is there its just rendered behind the objects instead of being overlayed.
*EDIT 2: Just posted a comment on the Optifine thread asking about this issue directly.

Just wondering, but does the bookcase's redstone output strength depend on the position of the Redstone Book for use with the comparator?
If not that is something to consider adding, so not only do they need to place the book in the right shelf, but also in the right slot.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
Would you consider making a full block version of the shelves so that they would be flush with blocks above, below, or beside them? As they are, it's somewhat odd mixing Bibliocraft's bookshelves with standard Minecraft bookshelves, but having a solid backing and having the shelves themselves being the front half of the block would work nicely.
Other than that, this mod has become a must-have for my server, so thanks for everything you've done with it.

I agree with the above, either an item we can use to pull/push it to the right depth, or a simple recipe where we can craft the shelf by itself to get a flush shelf, and a flush shelf to a normal shelf.

I'm trying to compile a private modpack for our whitelist server @ http://www.promethea-ftb.com, and I was wondering if I would be able to include your mod in the compilation.

There was something I recently wondered (and am fairly certain that someone has probably inquired about/requested this before, it's not particularly novel); Have you considered doing "big" display cases? Like, allowing two of the same color/wood to connect creating a larger one that could display 2-3 items or something? I like the display cases but I think i'd probably use a larger version of them more frequently than the little ones, so I was just curious. I imagine it might be a bit more difficult to code than the connected chests thing, but I'm no coder so I have no idea.

That mod that Ekacfeeb12 mentioned seems like almost exactly what you want, but it's hard to say if that will be updated. There is plans on my list for another single item storage block. I have some ideas on how I want to approach it and I think there is a chance what I want to do may do kind of what you want. I will elaborate more when the time comes.
Excuse me mod creator, I have noticed that the Bibliocraft Reading Glasses and Enchantment are incompatible with Optifine. No text will appear. I have tested this and without optifine, it worked perfectly. Is there any way you can fix this?
Yeah, Optifine is giving me issues with text rendering. I've coded the renderers to first render the block then the text, which works great with just forge, but optifine is doing something with the font renderer I think that is making the text render first then the block renders over it. I'm not sure of any way I can fix this either.
DarkStormDragon: Maybe you can post back here if you get any information from the optifine thread that can tell us what optifine is doing to make this happen and if there might be anything I can do to fix it.
Just wondering, but does the bookcase's redstone output strength depend on the position of the Redstone Book for use with the comparator?
If not that is something to consider adding, so not only do they need to place the book in the right shelf, but also in the right slot.
You know, I thought about doing something like that. Maybe even having different books (maybe add a redstone dust to the book to increase the strength or something up to 14 times) and depending on the book it would vary the redstone strength. This is something that might happen. I'm not sure exactly why this would be useful, but it sounds cool.
Is it possible to make the new Thaumostatic Harness render on your armor stand (I mean in 3D not only like it is now), because its looks soooo awsome. BTW your mod is so fancy and cool, thank you for that.
I would like to, but right now there is something preventing this from happening. BiblioCraft v1.2.2 will attempt to render the 3D model and then crash, which is one of the main reasons I felt I needed to push the 1.2.3 update and switch over to 2D rendering, its better then crashing. So yeah, if I can get it to not crash, I will do this in the future.

I have actually thought about adding an item that could push/pull the block. Something like that could pretty easily. It would be more of a general use item for altering the visual appearance of different blocks and I would take advantage of it probably for a handful of different uses. So this is another thing that just might happen.
I also may be able to help alleviate you of vanilla bookcases next version. Many people might be really pleased to know that the next version will upgrade the bookcases to work with the enchantment tables. As of the newer builds of forge (I'm not sure when it happened, sometime after 1.5) they added a hook to the enchantment table and even better they made it so I can return a float so I can effectively count the books on the bookcases and make the bookcase increase enchantment levels based on the number of books.

As long as you give me credit and have a link back to my forum thread you have permission to use BiblioCraft in your mod pack.

This is one of my favorite mods btw, Nuchaz.
There was some discussion about a larger case, or a cupboard of some sort awhile back. Eventually there is a few multiblock things that I kind of want to add and I think the cupboard would fit into that group. So that might come about around the time I start my multiblock adventure.

Nice, thanks for the response. I'd still actually like a full block sized shelf as an option, but if I can at least get the shelf to be flush with surrounding blocks, I'll be satisfied enough with just that.
Having your shelves count towards enchanting tables will be a great addition, though largely useless for myself as I've completely disabled enchanting tables on my server due to being unable to figure out any methods to charge currency for enchants instead of XP.
Personally speaking, vanilla shelves are mostly an aesthetic thing for me. I use SecretRoomsMod, and with that can copy the vanilla shelves appearance and thus make hidden bookshelf doors. I was attempting to use the redstone book as a 'key' for a hidden door, but found it more difficult than it appeared when I couldn't get the shelf to be where I wanted it without it making the hidden door rather obvious.
Either way, you've done a great job so far with the mod, and I look forward to what you do with it in the future.
He man nice mod have it on my SP map and i have 25 mods running at the same time which is amazing but is there any way you can tell what mods u were using when you took those screenshots i noticed nice armour and a red ingot which i milked myself to because it looks so nice man.

I would go with the redstone books position in the shelf(with the first redstone book being the one that counts), thus reflecting the movies where secret bookcases are used(It has to be that one specific slot, otherwise nothing happens)
It also lets you build a combination lock, where each shelf can output a number from 0-15(16 possible settings, 0 being no redstone book in that shelf). Now, what if you had 3 shelves, each requiring a redstone book in the correct slot to open a door. There are 4096 possible combinations. Now add in having to first find the shelves that need to be powered(if for a secret door). Then add in the requirement that each book be placed in the proper order, you now have an extremely hard combination lock, that you can easily remember(book names as clues), but anyone else will have a difficult time with.
Bascially, it would serve one purpose. Letting people make secure secret doors, that require a person to test every slot to hack, instead of just any slot(that is if the owner is using a comparator).
