He man nice mod have it on my SP map and i have 25 mods running at the same time which is amazing but is there any way you can tell what mods u were using when you took those screenshots i noticed nice armour and a red ingot which i milked myself to because it looks so nice man.
Most of the screenshots were taken with minecraft 1.4.7 and an arrangment of over 80 mods. The main mods you see in the pictures is Industrial Craft 2, Red Power 2 (the red ingots come from that), Twilight Forest, Thaumcraft, Forestry, Computer Craft, Extra Bees, railcraft, mystcraft, and ender storage.
I would go with the redstone books position in the shelf(with the first redstone book being the one that counts), thus reflecting the movies where secret bookcases are used(It has to be that one specific slot, otherwise nothing happens)
It also lets you build a combination lock, where each shelf can output a number from 0-15(16 possible settings, 0 being no redstone book in that shelf). Now, what if you had 3 shelves, each requiring a redstone book in the correct slot to open a door. There are 4096 possible combinations. Now add in having to first find the shelves that need to be powered(if for a secret door). Then add in the requirement that each book be placed in the proper order, you now have an extremely hard combination lock, that you can easily remember(book names as clues), but anyone else will have a difficult time with.
Bascially, it would serve one purpose. Letting people make secure secret doors, that require a person to test every slot to hack, instead of just any slot(that is if the owner is using a comparator).
That puts a whole different spin on the idea, I hadn't really realized the potential. I really like this idea. It's quite simple to do even, much simpler than the way I was thinking. Simple enough that I just finished adding this feature and it works with no problems. Since there is 16 slots on the shelf, I let slot 0 (top left) have no redstone output, so you could effectively store a redstone book on a shelf without outputting any redstone signal. So yeah, expect to see this in the next release.
Just a follow up from me ive quoted part of your reply here about the Optifine Issue to the Optifine thread to see if there is a fix, ive asked sp614x to either reply to me or you if there is a fix on either end for the rendering issue thats happening.

I really like this mod and i have a question: Could you make it compatible with Thaumcraft so that i can read Thaumonomicon from the desk like writen books? Is it even possible?
This is something I do want to do and I am quite sure it is possible because I think Ars Magica has a thing that you can place the thaumanomacron on and read it. I'm pretty sure that was done just using the Thaumcraft API, so hopefully it will be fairly simple. So, if I can figure it out, I will add it because I want this feature too. Storing my Thaumanomacron is one of my favorite uses for the desk.
I love this mod, but i can't use this with "Better storage mod"
can you fix this ?
change the enchantment ID in the config, it threw me at first too, wasn't sure what to make of that crash.

I really like your idea of having a printing press for the mod and I coudn't help but get giddy with possibilities just thinking about it. Allow me to make a few recommendations for features that could be tied to your printing press:
1. New poster recipes made from paper. Posters can be made in various sizes, similar to paintings (1x1,1x2, 2x2, 3x3, etc.) and can recieve print from the press.
2. New scroll recipe that can used for simple messages and notes. One recipe could even be a disposable scroll that destroys itself after being read (and one recipe could do so with a comedic explosion after 10 seconds).
3. A new scroll rack that can hold your scrolls and even organize them. Could even potentially hold Ars Magica scrolls.
4. A new script for the printing press that is indecipherable once it has been typed out and can only be translated by looking at it through a special lens.
5. Building on the previous recommendation the special script could be (if you happen to be an avid Zelda fan) the Hylian language from Zelda and it can only be translated by the Lens of Truth from Ocarina of Time xD.
Anyway, regardless of wether or not you take any of my suggestions into consideration, I can't wait to see what you come up with.
You need to provide more information, like a crash log or error report, so that we can actually know what the problem is. Simply saying "It doesn't work" doesn't help anyone, including yourself.

Great mod! Definately going to use it.
I have a couple of suggestions, if you don't mind.
I think that you should change the way written books are read; (but you should make a text file so that people can toggle this.) Where you would hold it like a map and push specific buttons (that you can change in the options) to turn the pages, so you can read the book while walking.
I also think, (if you use the first idea)
That you should be able to have some kind of UI to put stuff such as maps, and other stuff like that into your written books.
I also think that you should be able to put paper, and maps into bookshelves, and they would have their own texture, and depending on how many of the item you have stacked, it would have a texture that would look like a lot of that item.
Also, do your bookshelves interact with enchanting tables like the vanilla bookshelves? If not I suggest that too. (But it's not really necessary.

I like the scroll idea, but I think it would be better if you could just put the scrolls into the bookshelves, and they would have different textures than a normal book, and you could just tell the mod what was a scroll (like you can with a book.) For compatability with other mods.

I am trying to remember the page it was mentioned on, but Nuchaz relayed to us that there is a new forge hook that seems to allow that, so expect the shelves to work with enchanting tables.
There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
Hiyas! I am new to the MC forums, but I wanted to post my suggestions for this mod, because, although it is an awesome mod, I found some things I think would make it even better!
1. Paper and quill: Pretty much just a single page book and quill, but you can add more pages (up to 9) by placing it in the crafting table with paper. Can also be copied like books you have written. Has a different look when reading it.
2. Scroll shelves: Although this has been suggested before, I have some ideas for it. You can place maps, written papers, and scrolls (see below) in it, and they stack in a 4 x 4 pattern. Maps and written papers have only 1 roll, scrolls have 2.
3. Scrolls: Similar to the paper and quill, the scroll is a single page book, but you can't add more pages.
Has a different look when reading it.
4. Different look for maps and written papers in book shelves: A map or a single paper would have a folded look to them, and more than one page of written paper would look lined up like the pages of a book.
Crafting would be up to you, but I have an idea for the scroll.

Thank you for making such a great mod, and I hope you consider my suggestions, because I think they would make a nice addition!
Also, a quick question: If you used my suggestions, could you allow players to choose what items are written paper, and what items are scrolls, like players can choose what are books in the config?
Thanks for all the wonderful comments everyone! The next version is coming along nicely not gonna be as in-depth as the last big update, but I do have some nice new features coming. I even had an opportunity to talk with Azanor about some thaumcraft stuff like the thaumostatic harness on the armor stand in its 3D goodness and the opening the thaumonomacron on the desk. These things are both happening next release!
omg that mod is amazing! i need just that for store that much "junk" books from Ars magica!!! i love it!
btw it seems that the potion shelf does not recognize the Ars magica potions as potions, it's "not a problem" since we can store in a simple shelf. only saying if you don't know that
i love it.
Thanks for the great comments I wasn't aware of the potions from ars magicia not working, I'll have a look at these when I get a chance and see about adding default support. There is an option in the config file to add new keywords that can add support to the shelves, you may be able to edit your config file located at .minecraft/config/BiblioCraft.cfg and add support yourself for now.
I did this, but they have different id... i think the trouble is in the name, because have another "armorstand" in bibliocraft mod
how i can fix this ? :s ( I tried rename this but don't work xD)
The only issue with compatibility with better storage is the enchantment ID. As long as you change the enchantment ID to a free ID there should be no problems.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Expanding the uses of the printing press is something I am quite interested in doing. The next version of BiblioCraft will expand on the uses of the printing press relating to enchanted books. I will reveal more about how that works when I get a little closer to release. I like the idea of posters/printed paintings, that could be pretty neat, esp if I had a folder you could drop custom artwork in and choose your poster design. Exploding scrolls would be hilarious. The idea of a type of encrypted book is a really neat idea too. I'll these ingredients to the pot of ideas steeping in my head and see what happens.

P.S. Did I mention that this is a good mod?
Thanks for the suggestions! I like the idea about books, but unforchantly, changing vanilla behaviours requires base edits, which can be done with a coremod, but I don't really want to get into that if I can help it. Being a mods folder mod makes things a lot easier on updates and stuff. I can not deny that would be epicly cool to be able to read a book like that.
Currently, maps do work on bookcases, though the texture is not unique. In one of the last updates, I kind of set up the infrastructure and organized my textures better so I can have different textures based on what is on the bookcases. There is more work to be done there before its ready, but its on the list. I was kind of thinking about paper too, maybe making paper bundles with 9 paper that can be un-crafted just like iron blocks can be. Then the paper bundles would be placeable on the bookcases and I could have a texture for it to show a pack of paper.
Maps is something I would kind of like to do a handful of things with. I was thinking about adding a special book just for maps that would be called the atlas. I can't say when I will start map stuff, but its out there somewhere on the roadmap.
Regarding bookcases and enchanting tables: next update! Forge added the hook I needed. I'll explain in detail how my implementation works on release.

Thanks for the suggestions! Scrolls is something that keeps coming up from time to time. I definitely feel like I would have to add scrolls before I would think about adding a scroll shelves. Maps alone aren't a good enough reason. I'm not sure if that is something I want to get into or not. I'll keep it in mind though.
I would like to eventually gives books on bookcases different looks, I elaborated a little more on that earlier in this post.
Just wanted to drop in with a quick thanks very much - This mod is really fantastic. Very simple but makes so much difference, exactly the kind of thing I love.
I run my own small server for myself and some friends, using CraftBukkit - I'm no expert with this stuff but I can't find this mod on GetBukkit - are you intending to make it available on Bukkit at any point?
So, if I am understanding you correctly, you can't change the way an item's reading GUI looks, and you can't change the page limit?
Well, that is alright then.
Can you still just make things like Scrolls and Paper(s) you can write on?
And can you still make Scroll shelves and different models for maps and papers depending on where they are?
Like, on bookshelves, a single paper and a map look like a folded piece of paper, but on a desk, a single paper is unfolded, and on scroll shelves, maps and single papers are rolled up?
And how about placing a paper and quill in the crafting table with paper on either side of it would make stacked paper and quill?
This could look (like I said in my other post) like the pages of a book, but without the book, standing up in a shelf, and laying down on a desk. Stacked papers and books would be unable to be placed in scroll shelves.
Also, thank you for reading my posts, it means a lot to me!
I have the MC 1.5.2 version, and have downloud the version of Bibliocraft, Forge, too. So it dosn't signalize it by the Minecraftmenu by Forge, so the Mod isn't install. I have drop the mod in the "mods" folder. What was wrong?
It's hard to tell with that information. Like I said before, you need to provide the error report/crash log so we can see exactly what's happening and determine what the cause is.

So yeah, expect to see this in the next release.
Same here XD And it's compatible with the Jammy Furniture Mod! So now my house has an exquisite library [Will Donate Soon, hopefully]
Thank you for looking into this.
