^ Well, that was surprisingly amazing, but it should be faster than obsidian by default (because it is, try it out). Only one issue, you do realise that TConstruct tools are only enchantable via books, right?
Anyway, bug report: Putting diamonds on shovels removes the texture.
Only the shovel is that fast, from my testing. Pickaxe isn't that fast, as far as I'm aware.
What I mean is that when applying Lapis Lazuli to a tool, it eventually grants the Fortune or Looting Vanilla enchant. At least it does in 1.0.7. I assume applying Blaze powder does something similar. It's not really meant to affect anything with the vanilla enchanting system, but rather, it's meant to be similar in concept to gold tools' enchantability quirk in Tinker's Construct's modification system.
Honestly? It would be extremely overpowered if gold toolheads/sword blades had the 25% bonus to all modifications AS WELL as being speed 8 or higher.
Also as an added note to my previous post, a golden sword blade would have 0 base damage, like wood. It's strengths lie purely in it's additional modification power.
Optical: I don't test with NEI. It's odd that some of the tools are rendering but not others. I have to wonder what ChickenBones is doing to run the video buffer over...
Yeah, quite odd. What's odd too is that the render issue extended to non-TConstruct tools in the vicinity. The amount of tools missing there changes depending on gui-scale, window size, fullscreen, cheatmode vs recipemode.

Cheers, Optical - Yami no Yami!
- Is it not better to be yourself, than to be reforged anew, wherein lies, hate, and guilt are contained, ready to erupt at any moment?
You're just in time: I finally got the time to record, and the tutorial was the first thing I made:
What do you think?
Good job with the tutorial. All about the simple stuff about using the mod. I could probably come up with my own Mod Tutorial for YouTube (Yes, I have a YouTube account) and give a full in depth guide about using the mod for both how it works and what materials is useful for what purpose. I don't know when I will do it, but if I do, I'll let you all know when that happens.

The idea is really nice, but I'll just wait until there is more content. Although I do like that there already is cross-mod compatibility with IC2. That sort of thing is somewhat comforting after a certain modder decided to make his admittedly awesome mod incompatible with EVERYTHING. Aside from doing something like that, this mod could go far.
The harder something is, the longer it takes to mine regardless of what tool you use or tool effectiveness. Try a wooden pickaxe and a wooden shovel on stone and dirt; it should be obvious which is harder.
Blockmaster139: Disappearing textures are odd, I'll look into it.
Nnystyxx: They can't. Glowstone I haven't figured out how to make actually glow yet, and ice was so powerful it ended up as a tier 2 modifier.
Alestance: Gold as a base material? Not a bad idea. The idea behind it is good too. I may end up making tier 2 tool stuff sooner at this rate.
Naxza: It covers most things well enough that it's worthy of being in the OP. The only obvious thing missed was that you can place the frying pan to cook food with.
The charge boost ability is bonus damage and knockback on sprint-hits. The rapier's knockback is weird right now, so it's hard to see, and the longsword's boost is much lower than the rapier.
I can't create parts with some kinds of shards, the game just crashes.

--- END ERROR REPORT 5b569d3c ----------
Video, awesome!!!!! I've been thinking about Metallurgy support, and I was thinking that all of the utility and fantasy materials could be modifiers and the rest could be workable.
Good luck!
I went over the part crafter with a fine toothed comb. A bit of logic was faulty, as it turns out, and it only appeared when you put things that had no value in the part table. I went and removed the items that weren't actually shards as well.
Draygon: I can't reproduce this no matter what I do. The error log is talking about Manyullyn name tags... I've re-added the textures with this recent release just in case.
INS: Metallurgy has so many materials that I'm having problems deciding what goes where. The next release that isn't a bugfix should have the base materials at least.
A suggestion: The modifiers like diamond and emerald could create a random type of enchantment for exemple:
A diamond would give durability but it would give a random number of durability points, i think it would add a little more RPG experience to the mod. =)
Also i would like to know if you are interested in some more mod reviews.
EDIT: Not really important but in tinker's log #14
A wooden pickaxe will break the ore; this i found out the hard way.
Hard at work on the manual. Lots of nonsense going on behind what the book sees so it can read recipes and show tables, pictures, etc. I plan to use the code a few more times. Minecraft's books are so lackluster, I want people to write their own...
Oh gawd is this thing boring. New plan: metallurgy parts!
GloriousTaco: You'll be able to get the spike just like the other parts - through the part builder. The Ice Axe isn't out yet.
Whenever I have a tool that is enchanted selected I lag like crazy... Also... I have a sword with Life Steal, Auto-Repair and Luck and it has no texture... It's just a white box that says missing texture. It's made with an iron blade and handle and a cactus wide guard if that helps. A page of NEI also tends to mess up if you scroll over to a certain item... I'm not sure what it is but it can show up to Copper Longsword on Large GUI scale before it messes up.
I started to add some of the Metallurgy materials, then a pattern emerged. The vast majority of the materials in metallurgy will require a tier 2 tool and part crafter. Adding the materials and not being able to make them is unacceptable! I will be moving ahead with the smeltery earlier than planned; pullcarts will have to wait.
BluntSword: I, er, was rendering the enchant shine lots of times. It was super shiny! Missing texture was easy enough to fix.
Only the shovel is that fast, from my testing. Pickaxe isn't that fast, as far as I'm aware.
What I mean is that when applying Lapis Lazuli to a tool, it eventually grants the Fortune or Looting Vanilla enchant. At least it does in 1.0.7. Good luck!
Wooden pick does not break the iron ore.
Oh gawd is this thing boring. New plan: metallurgy parts!
GloriousTaco: You'll be able to get the spike just like the other parts - through the part builder. The Ice Axe isn't out yet.
CKTO: Sure it does. It breaks it really well!
BluntSword: I, er, was rendering the enchant shine lots of times. It was super shiny! Missing texture was easy enough to fix.
