are we sure we're looking @ the same log?
it's really not a big deal, just a little confused at being told to update a mod I don't have on (or have never used for that matter).
never mind
snipercrowbar: Logs don't lie. It's in there, keep looking.
Hmm, after checking, it appears you do not. Sorry about that. However, D00m295 does. I had just responded to the one mDiyo mentioned as needing to update ModularPowersuits, remembering I had seen an error with that in the past. mDiyo, did you perhaps get your replies to snipercrowbar and D00m295 swapped around back at post #939?

Cheers, Optical - Yami no Yami!
- Is it not better to be yourself, than to be reforged anew, wherein lies, hate, and guilt are contained, ready to erupt at any moment?
So far so awesome. The smeltery is my favorite mod furnace to date - casting stuff is just really satisfying somehow - and the fact that it doesn't need any obscure materials in its making (contrast every furnace out there that needs nether brick) certainly helps.
A few oddities and thoughts:
-Bug: When crafting wooden tools/parts with a material cost of 0.5, using a plank gives two sticks back. This is actually a spare stick as there are normally two sticks per plank (4 sticks per 2 planks) - should only give one.
-ETA - seems to be a bug but not entirely sure: There don't seem to be recipes for the blocks of metal at all. Though the blocks themselves appear in NEI, it seems they can't be obtained. Not sure if intentional.
-Thought: A way to "clamp" casts in casting tables would really help when working with large batches. I have an entire side of my smeltery devoted to casting ingots, and accidentally right-clicking on a casting table I just pulled the ingot from, and thereby picking up the cast, gets a bit irritating. Maybe a shift-right-click on a table+cast could hold the cast in place? Or maybe clamps could be added to / removed from the crafting table to accomplish this?
-Thought: Sand casting could provide an alternate means of getting started with the smeltery. Say, sand + clay makes a blank sand cast, which can be manipulated at the stencil table in the usual way. Sand casts work like any other casts, but break after use; you get the cast piece but the cast itself is instantly removed. (This might be less appealing now that I see the 2xgold blank cast recipe, but it may still be a thought all the same.)
In general, though, it's looking really awesome, and I love how much more material-efficient it is to make tools. (And of course the various things that can be done with them. Slime handles and obsidian bindings ho!) Now if I can just figure out how to make Treecapitator work with the axes, everything will be grand!
I've made one more small tweak to the mod for the sake of balance. Redstone goes twice as far per modifier now, which should allow for much higher speed on tools.
Pelirow: Concepts often look terrible at first. I couldn't get a good screenshot of lightning or the redstone running around...
Peach774: The first bug is a vanilla bug, the second is intentional.
Timbob102: They're unnattainable; I don't have a block cast yet.
CyanideX: I stop supporting the previous version the instant we have one in the current Minecraft.
DeathBringerr57: No, I have other weapons planned.
Shurhaian: It's not technically a bug that you get more materials out of it. I need to set up the system for more fine grained controls; it's half or wholes right now.
Duckstepper: Yay for suggesting already implemented features!
I'm using the 1.4.7 version (waiting on some mods to update before going to 1.5). When I start my game I am not receiving the initial book nor am I receiving the book you receive when you create the tool station. Any ideas? Is it possible to spawn in the book using NEI? I looked for them but can't find them.
A question for you mDiyo: How do feel about update notifiers? I would like to see one in your mod, but you should make it like Buildcraft and Forestry's ones in that they only notify you once, then go away.
I meant the 1.4.7 version. I fixed the typo.Received this error when attacking an Enderman with a stone broadsword, handle made of wood everything else stone.

I really appreciate a mod author who is actively involved in the community to answer questions from fans. Thank you.
Apologies in advance if this has been fixed by now, but I haven't updated since before the Rapier/Longsword changes because of the note about smelteries being bugged.
Anyways, I have noticed something different about the Mattock. If it makes any difference, I used a stone shovel and stone axe heads and an alumite rod to create this Mattock. I wanted to use this item for the axe/shovel combination and have ignored the hoe aspect- so when I decided I wanted to chop down trees faster, I tried adding Redstone. Adding haste to the Mattock seemed to be bugged- I could not get it to go over 4.16 speed. Adding 1 redstone at the 24 count brought it down to 4.08. It also did not affect the second mining speed, which I assumed was shovel.
The mattock seems to work at the same speed as my hand on gravel, but normally on dirt.
Again, sorry if this has been fixed by now. Are those earlier smeltery bugs ironed out, thus making it safe for me to update?
Shurhaian: It's not technically a bug that you get more materials out of it. I need to set up the system for more fine grained controls; it's half or wholes right now.
What I mean is that a single stick would be half a plank, in this case. Giving two is generating an extra half unit out of nothing. One stick is used as half a plank, but crafting a 0.5 cost part with a plank gives 1.0 back in sticks.
Encountered a crash when trying to combine two identicle all iron pickaxes to repair their durability. The world will no longer load.

--- END ERROR REPORT 3fc1dcdd ----------
Who says the Smeltery is only for melting liquids? It makes a lovely lava tank too.
Well, now I'm certainly going to have an intermediate step or two in my current setup of Nether lava -> Bucket of Lava -> Ender Tank in the Nether -> Ender Tank in the Overworld -> TE Liquiduct -> GT Thermal Generator -> GT LESU -> IC2 power grid.
ooooo sweet wonder if we will ever be able to use a smeltery for molten ice its nice living out side the laws of physics.
Molten ice could be formed into some type of sword (weapon) modifier that acts like redstone or lapis, but adds longer durations of a slowness effect on the mob for each one. Like an ice ingot or an ice crystal that can only be formed in a mold. But there would have to be an alternative, easy way to mine ice, but limit how much molten ice (or water if you want to be boring :P) will have to be put into the mold to make the ice crystal. That's my idea on molten ice (or water if you really, really want to call it that ).
the guides mention steel and that it's recipe is unknown, does that mean that its recipe isn't implemented, or is just secret? I've been looking threw the source code ( ) and I couldn't find any recipe for it.
The thing is... NEI goes away completely. Like pressing O except that it doesn't come back until I restart the client.
It happens when I scroll to the page in NEI that contains a certain item. Then that page is invisible, screen flickers, then NEI vanishes.
I'm guessing you won't be fixing this big for a 1.4.7 version?
Hmm, after checking, it appears you do not. Sorry about that. However, D00m295 does. I had just responded to the one mDiyo mentioned as needing to update ModularPowersuits, remembering I had seen an error with that in the past. mDiyo, did you perhaps get your replies to snipercrowbar and D00m295 swapped around back at post #939?

elemenster: Yes, everything relating to rendering has been fixed. Tools currently have 6 layers for modifiers and more for the tool itself.
Blockmaster139: I despise update notifiers. You will never have one from me, especially since I update frequently.
snipercrowbar: Good to hear.
Sertas: Wow, you broke Java. I suggest a reinstall.
Duckstepper: Check the back of the material book for an electric modifier. There's nothing above tier 1 yet, but there will be in the future.
FinAndTonic: Nearly all of the bugs that affect gameplay have been ironed out. If there's any left, let me know.
Shurhaian: I know what you mean. It's a flaw in the system, not a bug.
