HOPEFULLY it works.... I mean, I played it on my forge'd version of minecraft and it worked...
So tell me if it works, and if it's compatible, and if it includes SMP!!

Golden apple could only be found in strongholds or dungeons. And the lack of sugar makes it impossible to get potion of weakness to cure zombie villagers.
So yeah, wood is non-renewable unless you use TooManyItems to spawn 1 sapling.
Seeds can be found in chests in strongholds. You can find melon and pumpkin seeds in abandoned mineshafts. Zombies rarely drop carrots and potatoes.
Now how do I get saplings if NPC villages don't spawn?

It is a wasteland for a reason.
Oasis would be a way to if that single tree gives it or dungeon loot i believe.
I've been waiting a long time for this. Really glad it's finally updated. THANK YOU!!!
First, a little feedback:
I really like the (new?) army tents. Might want to make them SLIGHTLY more rare, but not too rare.
I think trees are either still too common, or are perhaps too large. Either keep the frequency and reduce the size, or just reduce the frequency. Otherwise, I think there's just too much wood in the wasteland. See my other wood/tree suggestions below.
Is there supposed to be a discolored sky? I never saw that in the original mod, and I'm not seeing one now. Texture pack?
I do like the following ideas from other posters:
SMP !
Mountains
Snow biomes
Bones in chests
Compatibility with thirst mod, or implement own thirst dynamic. I have never used a thirst mod outside of what MineZ offers, but I like the idea.
Additional ideas of my own (I think):
I would like to see clay deposits, as if oceans/lakes dried up.
I would really like to see deserts and the oasis (in the desert, of course) make a return. Is this planned?
When I played the original, my grass spread, but I remember doing something that could have broken the mod and caused this. At any rate, I think grass should spread, which dictates that the oasis be put in a desert as it was originally. One reason I think grass should spread is to have something to work towards, "repairing" the damaged world. I assume that once large areas are covered with grass, there may be animal spawns.
There should be sugar cane either in the deserts, or found in chests, or???
Something I noticed is still missing from this updated mod is what I used to think of as a bakery. It's like the library, but full of furnaces instead of books (I always wished I could find stuff in the furnaces, but I'm guessing that's not easy to implement). I would like to see the bakery come back though, for old time sake.
I understand there is only one biome now. I think it would be better to have multiple biomes, each with its own wasteland touch. I'm thinking this would make it easier to bring back deserts, WITH the requisite rare oasis , as well as facilitate the suggested snow biomes, etc. There could be forests, which are dense® collections of dead trees, much smaller than the current giant trees found everywhere else. Or maybe it will be a logged forest, having only stumps. Bottom line, multiple biomes will make the world a whole lot less boring.
Possibly new blocks: "Rotted Wood", "Rotted Wood Planks"... breaking them yields sticks only. Make these more common than wood planks at ruins. Maybe even make some whole trees out of them, causing wood to be even more rare. This will discourage use as a building material and make tools more precious.
Graveyards. Not in the best of repair, mind you. But maybe with chests containing bones, and some skulls here and there. I can't imagine the end of the world without LOTS of graves.
One idea I had was to put in fallout shelters. I first thought of simple bunkers, but I suppose the basements at some of the ruins sort of covers that. So, have elaborate fallout shelters, but make them VERY rare. I'm thinking three per world, like strongholds, placed with about the same randomness and position relative to spawn.
As far as saplings, I think they should be in, but only found in the aforementioned fallout shelters, for all four kinds of trees. This could be evidence of a preservation project, that previous inhabitants were interested in saving plant life by stowing them away in the shelters. There might be other things to put only in these shelters, like both mushroom types, melon and pumpkin seeds, etc. To make things extremely difficult, if not downright obnoxious, split up the collection between the fallout shelters, so you have to find more than one shelter to get different items
Basically, finding one or more fallout shelters should give the player everything needed to completely rebuild and have access to all items. A goal.
Do something to the Nether... for starters get rid of mushrooms. It's too easy to find a lava pool, build a portal, and POOF, you have an endless supply of mushroom stew. Put mushrooms only in the fallout shelters, as I mentioned. But keep Nether Wart, as it's not a food source.
Keep wheat farming as the only viable renewable food source until a fallout shelter is found. After that, you should have sufficient resources to rebuild the planet. Of course, keep finding non-renewable food stuffs in ruin chests, etc. Carrots and Potatoes should only be found as mob drops and in the fallout shelters, never in chests.
Overall, I love that this mod is back, and I like the terrain and structure generation the way it's been implemented (other than a lack of biomes, deserts specifically). I wouldn't change much yet, other than what I've suggested above :-O
EDIT: I just watched a video that showed what appeared to be some kind of grave markers (a sign atop a block)... but I never saw this in my world. Am I missing something? EDIT: Ok, I think I understand now. I must have been seeing the 1.3.2 update to this mod, which had grave markers, but also villages. I'm glad it looks like the villages have been removed. I was not wild about the grave markers either. Additionally, the only time I've really seen the discolored sky was in the 1.3.2 version.
Did a review on this, this mod was one of the first ever to get me started REALLY playing mc WAY back when it first started. Felt like I needed to do this, will be up soon Thanks for keeping this updated.
I'm not sure why many of the ideas you suggested were either features removed when updating the mod to a newer version
Probably because the mod is a total re-write and/or the way things worked in v1.1 aren't the same anymore, making it more challenging to get things closer to how they were. The new version is still really good, but I just finished going back and playing with v1.1 (or Wasteland v0.8), which makes me miss the old terrain generation even more.
Hard to say which is more brutal, old or new. The old version has the oasis but less mob drop variety. You could always impose your own gameplay restrictions/rules on yourself, like not accepting/using certain items when found. Lots of challenge maps work this way... unless you just can't resist the urge to cheat
Why not change it to be wasteland themed you know.

Seems to be working perfectly thanks!

Also a way to get sugar would be nice. "Wasteland" shouldn't mean "you can't get this" rather it should mean "This is much harder to get"
Glad this mod was updated either way. Really fun with Better Than wolves (though you can't get everything without feathers, leather, and wolf poop)

My guess is that it's one of these three:
Last Days - http://www.minecraft...-100-last-days/
Wasteland Craft - http://www.minecraft...telandcraft-★★/
The End is Extremely Nigh - http://www.minecraft...on-10-released/
