The only thing that should be generating is the magic essence... but why would you turn that off? (I keep getting confused and thinking the other ores are the ones people keep meaning)

Yeah I only meant copper tin and aluminium. They are in the config yet I don't think they will generate.

The ores from this mod only exist to ensure that the essence has something valid to turn into. See the recent discussion on hopefully getting it to scan the ore dictionary and pick one of those, instead.
Will there be an apatite plant to go with Forestry compatibility if/when that gets implemented? And might I suggest Thaumcraft shards (air, water, earth and fire for sure, dunno how order/entropy would work out) being made with the appropriate elemental essence being used alongside magic essence? e.g. crafting air shards would require, say, five air essence in a X and four essence dust/weak magic essence in the remaining four spots.
Also ferrous/nickel and shiny/platinum metals from Thermal Expansion and related? Possibly uranium and iridium from IC2? How about sulfur, that's in a few mods. BoP gems (topaz, malachite, tanzanite, amethyst) and celestial crystal? Vinteum, chimerite, blue topaz, sunstone, moonstone, all those fun ores from Ars Magica? Amber and Cinnabar and Tainted stuff from Thaumcraft? I forget whether cobalt and ardite from TiC are already shortlisted, but if not they should be, as well as blue slime soul crops. Clay, for sure. And sand, as many people have said before. qCraft quantum dust? Railcraft's Firestone and Saltpeter? Stuff from the Twilight Forest (e.g. borer essence, armor shards, naga scales etc.)?

Ferrous can be acquired by pulverizing obscene amounts of iron, but shiny would require pulverization of ferrous ore. In the meantime, laser yourself up some ferrous with MFR!

So long as the crops keep giving ore instead of dusts then just adding Ferrous should be enough I think. Shiny crops would only really be 'required', so to speak, if crops only gave dusts as then we'd have no access to pulverizing Ferrous ore.

Oh! I should add recipes like that in the interim on my server! Maybe if a crop does get added for Thaumcraft, it can be a single crop and utilize both it and the already existent essences like nature and elemental for the shards. Not sure what you'd then combine it with for amber and cinnabar (or quicksilver directly) though.
Nah, no problem. It's just funny how I look at them, and wait for them to harvest the plant, and their train of thought goes a little something like, "hey bro, can you do my job for me?"
The OreDict idea is one I've had before, the issue being I'm not sure on how to go about it, the way I used is the way I know, if I ever find out on how to search the OreDict I'd add it very quickly as I myself hate having my own ore and ingots, makes the mod look very messy. Also separate configs for the magical items can be done. Thanks for the feedback, and if you know anyone that can help out with the OreDict search code let me know.
I would suggest progWML6 (from Tinker's Construct,) He's a good coder and almost always will to help someone (if he's not backed up.) i don't know what his username on MCF is though. He is in the FTB teamspeak often enough, so you can always catch him there.

I'll try to reply to everything above, The ores don't generate they are there for mod compatibility reasons, the only ore that generates is the Essence ore and Nether Essence ore. New crops that are in the next release are, Force, Cobalt, Ardite, Nickel and Platinum/shiny ingot, also a wither crop. Also Mystcraft compatibility will be hopefully added in the future, also Thaumcraft crops later on.

I take in all suggestions and comments on my mods, even if I don't reply I have logged it somewhere.
I'm probably the only one asking for this, but is there any way to get a config option to change the textures to a lower resolution or a more vanilla look? I'm not trying to be insulting and I can tell a lot of effort went into the textures for this mod, and they do look great. I just personally really hate how SphaxPureBD looks and it clashes with vanilla textures pretty badly. I play in a heavily modded environment, so I usually stick with vanilla textures since its impossible to find a resource pack that is always up to date and covers every mod. Its no big deal, I just figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Otherwise, I absolutely love the mod and I am most certainly willing to overlook clashing textures. I absolutely love the addition of the food crops too. (except for the sphax-looking berry bushes! jk) Thank you so much for sharing your hard work with us all and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!

These will be changed to a more Minecraft vanilla friendly look in the next release, the Sphax textures were just a place holder really, as I am having trouble finding a texture artist.

Hi! I've been using this mod heavily - thank you! I've been using Magical Crops (3.1.6), Rotarycraft (v15b) and Thaumcraft (4.0.5b) for my farming, I have some feedback and peculiarities I've encountered.
1) I was lucky enough to get some essence crop seeds, but neither Rotarycraft fans nor Thaumcraft golems harvest them at all.
2) Thaumcraft golems still don't get secondary drops (essence, etc), though they do get bonus seed drops.
3) I'm using a Rotarycraft fan farm to get the secondary drops, but they drop the weak essence instead of essence dust, as well as the now-disabled Christmas essence.

Thanks for replying Mark! I didn't know they were placeholders at all, so now it makes sense why they have the look that they do.
If you don't want to wait, you can download a later version of MagicalCrops with the old textures and replace them yourself.
