Unfortunately, due to time constraints I have, and the fact that it takes me longer to update the mod than it takes Mojang to update MC, I am no longer going to provide updates to this mod. I know, shocking, right? I'm sorry to everyone this affects, but I've burned almost an entire month trying to update the mod to the latest version of Minecraft and my progress keeps getting reset. More details on the whole ordeal here.
Welcome to the Empyrean!
Version 1.1.7 is out!
Change Log
1) Finally tracked down a major issue with the spirit orbs. If you were sometimes not getting your items back, including if you died in the nether, that issue has now been fixed. Your spirit guide also now generally has a better handle on where you died and if you have died recently. This was a big enough issue that I felt the fix needed to be released ASAP.
2) Version Updates. The mod now checks your version against the latest version available for download. If you notice new network traffic coming from your Minecraft process, fear not, nothing shady is going on. It's an 85 byte XML file you can find here (http://electrichorse...on/empyrean.xml) that simply contains the current released version of the mod, and compares it to your client. If your mod is out of date, it just lets you know on the title screen, it does not and will not download anything to your computer.
3) Boss Skins. All leader and boss variants of mobs now have custom skins. You may have noticed some mobs with white or yellow diamonds around their heads in the past. This was just a placeholder for the new skins, so you will not see those anymore. This is just preparation for the 1.2 update that adds custom AI and spawn rules to them, so currently they don't act any different, it's purely a cosmetic change.
While there is no update for it, the mod in it's current form is compatible with 1.4.7. The in-game menus will still all show 1.4.6, but I will have an update out soon.
Client Installation Instructions: (Follow any one of these three methods to install the mod. You must have a clean minecraft install. THIS MOD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH FORGE or any other mods. Please give it a chance though, the incompatibility is due to the massive and pervasive changes the mod makes to the game, and not for lack of trying.)
(Recommended) Download MCPatcher. Use the mod menu at the top to add the mod zip file. Uncheck all other mods in the list. Press the patch button. Run as normal.
Unzip the contents of the mod zip file into a folder. Open your minecraft.jar file with WinRar (or any rar utility) and paste the files you unzipped earlier into the file. Delete the Meta-inf folder. Run as normal.
Download Magic Launcher. After opening it, click the configure button in the bottom right. Use the add button on the right to add the mod zip file. Save the configuration. At this point, to run the mod, simply open the launcher, pick the configuration you saved the mod into and press the login button.
Server Installation Instructions:
Download the minecraft server jar file from minecraft.net Unzip the contents of the server mod zip file into a folder. Open your minecraft_server.jar file with WinRar (or any rar utility) and paste the files you unzipped earlier into the file. Run as normal.
If your server hosting company doesn't let you directly modify the minecraft_server.jar file, send me a PM with their contact info. I know this can be a deal breaker for a lot of people and I will try and work whatever I can out so people can mod their servers with this mod.
If you ever download this mod or anything related to it from any site other than electrichorsesoftware.com (or its mirror elhoso.co), please report it to me. This mod will never be hosted anywhere else.

Mod Showcase by KragTheDark
Mod Review by FuriousDestroyer
This is a total conversion mod based on Chinese mythology for Minecraft that aims to make combat as relevant to the game as mining and building are in vanilla mode. The goal of this mod is to provide a unique experience without breaking the original game. To that end, the mod exists as a new game mode that is available at world creation, and all other existing game modes should work as they do in the vanilla client. While the mod was designed and balanced with multiplayer in mind, The SMP server mod is not quite ready yet, but should be in the very near future. Multiplayer servers can run the modded server jar to host a game with this mode, and modded clients will be able to connent to vanilla servers or modded servers without issue. This mod is not designed to be compatible with any other mods, and any such compatibility is purely coincidental and not supported.
This mod is a work in progress. There are more features planned that will flesh out the mod to be the full experience I want it to be, but I know that it needs testing to be stable and I would like the community's feedback on the existing features so I have more time to tweak and balance. I cannot guarantee that your worlds will not break between versions, and I know there are a few features not added yet that will require new worlds for you to access them, but I will try to make sure that your existing worlds are not reset or broken by updates as much as possible.
I am a one-man team, so don't expect fast or frequent updates. This mod is huge, and took a long time to get to the point it is at. I am open to suggestions, and I will continue to make updates, but please remember that I am the only person working on this project and be patient with me. I have a full time job and a family, this is just something I am doing in my spare time that I want to share with you all.
There are more features in this mod than it would be feasible to list, so I have made a video highlighting the major features outlined below.
Classes
There are seven classes in this mod: four that deal with combat, two classes that deal with mining and crafting, and a base class that is always active that gives you a number of invaluable skills and passive benefits. You can switch classes at any time, and there is no level cap. All four combat classes are designed to be capable of filling any role in combat, but are each specialized in one area. You will never be without a tank or healer, but if you have a non-specialized class filling that role, they are going to have to work harder at it, and have fewer options available to get the job done. All classes can use any weapon or offhand item they want without penalty or reduced effectiveness.
Soldier
The soldier is a tanking-focused class. The sword is typically the weapon of choice for the soldier, as the ability to reduce incoming damage is something no tank would want to be without. In the offhand, the soldier will want a shield to increase armor and ensure his survival.
Daoist
The daoist is a healing-focused class. The bow is typically the weapon of choice for the daoist, as many daoist skills focus on conjuring magic arrows that provide unique effects to allies and enemies. In the offhand, the daoist will want to hold beads to increase their raw healing output.
Pugilist
The pugilist is melee-range damage-focused class. The deer horn knife is typically the weapon of choice for the pugilist, as it can be used to brace against incoming attacks and prevent knockback, allowing them to stay in the fight. In the offhand, the pugilist will want to hold a second deer horn knife to increase their raw damage output.
Monk
The monk is a far-range damage-focused class. The monk's spade is typically the weapon of choice for the monk, as it can be used to push back most enemies nearby, or charged to push back a narrow band of enemies at range, which helps the monk keep the distance he needs to stay safe. In the offhand, the monk will want to hold a tome to increase the severity or duration of the negative effects his attacks apply to his enemies.
Miner
The miner is a class that focuses on getting the most out of every block mined. Players should switch to the miner when digging out large areas or gathering resources from the earth to maximize their gains.
Builder
The builder is a class that focuses on improving the effectiveness of crafting recipes, expanding their knowledge of the crafts available, and building structures with ease. Players should switch to the builder when working on establishing their base or outposts, or when crafting new items or tools.
Items
A slew of new items give more variety combat, and add new ways for players to find what they are looking for in the vast landscape. New weapons with different effects on use to cater to the weaknesses of each class. Offhand items that give passive bonuses to enhance combat. Four new tiers of weapons, tools, and armor create a more even scale between tiers. Use ore dusts to find diamonds without blindly digging, or coal stoves to smelt your items on the go.
Blocks
A number of new blocks give more uses for redstone, add new decorative options, or allow for powerful new methods of traversing long distances. Stepping stones throw you huge distances across the sky in a single direction. Slate, marble and granite give new potential colors and textures to your stone buildings, as well as extra protection from creepers. Facade stones let you create hidden passages in your buildings.
Terrain Features
The map now generates new terrain features based on how far you are from the origin point of the map. The world becomes a much more dangerous, though much more rewarding place the farther out you venture. Pagodas spawn regularly as respawn points.
Mobs
Four new hostile mobs fill in the gaps in the combat experience and keep combat more engaging and stimulating.
Huli Jing (Nine-tail fox demon)
This creature spawns at lower levels, favoring lava and portals to the nether. The huli jing will cast spells at the player and teleport around to cause confusion, giving more time for the next attack.
Nian (Chimeric beast)
A slow but powerful beast, the nian will lumber towards its target, dealing massive damage on attack. If one catches you off guard, it can quickly be your downfall.
Ghost
The spirits of the dead roam the land, trying to possess the bodies of the living so they can feel once more. They are sensitive to the light, as it can banish them back to the underworld at high intensities. When attacking, the ghost will try to possess its prey and fly high into the air. If the victim resists the ghost, it is dropped from great heights, usually to its demise. Bat
Bats just want to be left alone, to hang on to the dark corners of the ceilings of caves, buildings, or whatever else they can find. When provoked, they tend to swoop in on their victims and fly away in a hit and run-style attack. Horse
Horses are beasts of burden that give the player a faster way to travel far distances. Once saddled, a horse can be mounted and controlled by the player to cover distances much faster than walking. While running, horses get tired and eventually need to stop to replenish their stamina. As horses get tired, their heads will start to sag, and if pushed to hard, they will eventually perish from exhaustion
Gameplay changes
A number of small changes make the game world feel different than a normal minecraft map.
- You no longer respawn at your spawn point, rather at the nearest spawning structure to ensure you are never too far from where you died. You can still return to your spawn point at any time with the Recall skill.
- When you die, you items are collected in a floating orb that is only visible or usable by you for five minutes, at which point it bursts and your items are dropped like when you die in vanilla minecraft. Your spirit guide can help you find this spirit orb.
- The compass now always points north. This makes it easier to navigate the world while far away from your spawn point.
- All enemies now have a chance to drop smelted ores, or precious stones. This chance increases as you venture out in the world, and makes combat a much more self-sustaining activity

It looks like you've put a lot of thought into the combat classes, should be interesting to try out. I like the attention paid to non-combat classes, too. Death orbs are pretty awesome.
This mod looks friggin amazing. Just two lil questions, for which version of Minecraft is this? And how do you install it?
It is for the current version of minecraft (1.4.6). As for installation:
"It is recommended to use the HD texture patcher to install the mod (but not the hd texture update), or simply copy the contents of the zip file into your minecraft jar file and delete the meta-inf folder."
Basically, use the HD patcher, uncheck everything and use the Mod menu at the top to add the zip file. Hit patch and it will take care of backing up your jar file (but not your worlds!) and applying the mod. Then just run it as normal, create a new world and set the game mode to Empyrean.

It is really good so far ,
thoug there are still some bugs,
but that is no problem since this obviously is a WIP > where can we report bugs to help you find them?
shall we just PM you or post them here?
Just to note that up there it is great and should get more publicity,
you might wanna get a banner,
i would like to help you make one but im not as active on the forums as i once was
Thanks for the feedback! The download link has a link to a bug reporting page, or you can go to http://elhoso.co/bug and report them there. I'm just a programmer, I'm bad at all of this publicity stuff, so thanks for the tips there as well.
The compatibility thing isn't something I am going to be able to fix quickly, if at all. What I can do, though, is give you access to all of the content so you can review it in some other way. Give me a few hours and I'll see what I can cook up. What I'm thinking for now though, is the ability to set your level so you can access the skills, and a toggle for the recipe book to show everything (instead of only what you know) and let you pick up items out of it. Would that work for you? You would be able to get all of the items, blocks, and skills, and with that you would be able to fly around the world to see the different landscapes and whatnot.

I went ahead with that idea. The new version 1.0.2 has the /te command which will open the game up for you to review.
run "/te admin true" first, to open up the rest of the commands.
"/te level [current|base] #" will set the level of your current class or the base class. If you want to fly around, the pugilist class skill featherlight will let you do that, so just set that as your active class and set your level to at least 9. I recommend setting your base class level up as well to give yourself more max qi so you can fly for longer.
"/te recipe all" will make your recipe book (default key 'r') show you all recipes and all items without recipes (even some of the technical ones, anything without a name is probably going to act weird). You can also use the two new buttons to get one of that item or a full stack of the item.
When you are done, "/te admin false" will set the game back to normal. I hope this helps you and any other potential reviewers.
Hello there,
I would like to make a mod spotlight for this mod as I think it has a lot of content for the amount of time it has been released for and it has a lot of potential. Is that ok?
Ill post here when done.
Absolutely. Other people have been having some issues with that, so if you need any help, or there is something you need the ability to do, just let me know and I'll do my best to make that happen for you.

Awesome! If you decide to and you have any questions for me or want any details about it, just shoot me a message on the forum.
this looks painful...
Also, I fully support:

Alright THANKS!!
If setup time is the issue, you might check out Magic Launcher. I've used it before with great success.
