Many vanilla biomes in Minecraft have a "mutated" version, meaning it generates slightly differently. This biome's ID is the original biome ID + 128. In AlgaeCraft, the mutated Great Lake biome has flowers, just because I couldn't think of how else to mutate it. The crash was likely caused by the biome ID of the Great Lake biome being greater than 127. Did you change the biome ID in the config? If not, then it was lazy ID checking on my part.
I think I'll just remove the mutated version of the Great Lake biome altogether so only 1 biome ID is used up. Until I release that change, the biome ID should be less than 128 to prevent the crash.
You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
I think I forgot to bring that up. It's a normal biome size, has spruce trees, and has a lot of water roughly 5 or 6 blocks deep with some little islands. I meant for it to be another place where players could find a significant amount of fish mobs without having to find an ocean.
I can confirm that AlgaeCraft's overriden yellow sponges will become vanilla 1.8 sponges if the world is updated! I know this because I accidentally opened an AlgaeCraft test world in Minecraft 1.8.8, and the only thing left in tact was the sponges. They even kept their metadata, so dry stayed dry, and wet stayed wet. I'm glad the whole using Java reflection to hack into Minecraft's block and item lists and replace sponges wasn't for nothing!
I've completely redone the OP to be much more organized, so it's easier to find things and easier for me to add new sections in logical places if need be. It includes updated information, and I've gotten rid of boring statistics, although I may put in hunger bar info about the foods later. I also moved the Downloads near to the top so people don't have to scroll past a world and a half of information to get to them. Let me know if I'm missing anything or you think something should be moved to a different section.

Thanks! I added the Red Iron Chips recipe and gave simple descriptions on what the flora can be planted on (the full list would be too long). I'm surprised I forgot Ocean Floor Sediment; I added that under aesthetic blocks.
Just a little update on what's going on. I'm very glad that I posted the AlgaeCraft source to github, because something caused me to lose all of the source from my 1.7 modding environment (I have no idea what, so I'm keeping extra backups). Nothing concerning AlgaeCraft was lost, thanks to the github copy. On a separate note, I've been working on updating to 1.8, but there have been a TON of changes to world position and block references. Apparently Mojang thought it a good idea to remove almost all references to metadata in Minecraft source. Rendering systems have been changed to support custom models instead of in-source rendering, so I'm not even sure if rendering coral (et. al) with the water flowing as a part of the block is even an option any more. I'll let you know once I've gotten the basics of rendering working again in 1.8 if anything has to be cut. I do know that I'm going to have to find a way to make those same blocks mimic players in water, thanks to other changes with block materials.
Hm. I understand that you are nowhere NEAR alone in your dislike of the 1.8+ code. I understand for the uber-advanced modders who understand it, it is GREAT for mods, especially those involving mobs, but most modders far prefer the easier 1.7.10- code.

Try using a more recent version of forge. I know that I used forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1448 and it worked just fine. If it still crashes, let me know, so I can try to figure out a better solution. As for the links, I have absolutely no idea why they're doing that. I've tried editing the links, but they remain recursive. I'll try some other things. Also, AlgaeCraft is a .zip because I have to delete certain files from the compiled mod before uploading it, since other test mods in the project are compiled in the same place.

Ah. I've been holding off on updating my Forge (and updating to Growthcraft Community Edition) because 1448 changed Forge Fluid handling and I was afraid it would break my other mods like it broke the original Growthcraft. I'll try it tomorrow.
Edit: Tried it with 1448, and it still crashes. By the way, what's Ljava?

I found the problem. I was using a method in replacing sponge that was only added in java 8. I think I can get out a version that uses a method that exists in java 6 and 7 without much effort. I'll just have to keep an eye out for stuff like that in the future. And I believe Ljava contains information about the basic classes java language (Object, String, Map, etc).

Yeah, that'll be it. I use Java 6 because...I can't remember, something bad... was happening because of 7. My launcher keeps suggesting that I use a new launcher that doesn't require Java, do you know what's up with that?

Ya. Just go to minecraft.net and download the launcher again, let it set up once, then use the new launcher from now on. I did it on my sister's laptop a few days ago.
I'm going to spend time with family today, so I'll post to the op later. (If the link decides to be recursive, just copy-paste into the search bar on your browser)

Yes, that works. Thank you!
I'll probably need to upgrade soon anyway, though. Turns out Growthcraft CE isn't built for Java 6 either, so I'll need to move on if I ever want to build those Pastafarian beer volcanoes.

-Removed flowered variety of Great Lake biome as a separate biome ID
-Fixed certain blocks not respecting list of appropriate biomes in config file. (Delete a biome lost value from the config to load a new list based on biomes from other mods that may be present)
-Made compatible with Java 6 and 7 to prevent related crashes
-Added special wetsuit varieties and recipes
-May have added ability to create custom wetsuit skins through resource packs (untested)
I'm going to leave the recipes for special wetsuits as a mystery for now, until I add more, but you can definitely use the command I posted earlier to obtain one of them. Feel free to suggest some ideas for wetsuit skins.

Also, both of the non-adfly download links are actually circular links, and it seems odd that Algaecraft is a .zip when all my other 1.7 mods are .jars.

Try this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o7cr744esgxddxv/algaecraft-[1.7.10]1.5.4.zip?dl=0
