Not sure if this is Thaumcraft or Rail Craft related but I don't seem to be able to place rail tracks on Amber ore is this intentional or not as it's interfered with my tunneling bore on rail craft and a mining cart from steves carts. I tried placing a track manually and it still wouldn't place so I'm assuming it's a Thaumcraft thing.
Thaumcraft ores, I believe, are classified as opaque glass. Like glowstone is. Can't place torches on them either.

I can't get my Infernal furnace working... it's an odd thing, since I saw it working on a couple of streams. I put ore into it, but get nothing from a output side.
Thaumonomicon says it need vis to operate, but there is no aura nearby, can it be the cause? how can I generate some vis then?

"Nothing is built upon rock: for all is built upon sand: but let each man build as if sand were rock". (Jorge Luis Borges, Evangelio Apocrifo)
what i REALLY want to see is some wizard robes. Magical robes that provide some kind of benefit and look awesome for those of us who love being a magic user.
I have just discovered something - Industrialcraft 2 synergises AMAZINGLY with Thaumcraft for one certain reason - Scaffolds are great for some Thaumcraft uses. Know how quick it is to erect a place made of Construction Foam using the scaffolds? The Wand of Equal Trade works on it, making it possible to construct stuff out of anything extremely quickly.
Also: They make very very good wisp cages. Put up a scaffold around a fluctuating node, and let them all build up. Once a few have appeared in there, make a hole in the roof and go to town. The fact you can climb up the scaffolds to chase them really helps.
There is no way to verbally express how excited your talk of the wisp trap has made me. The lil buggers are always flying around my base zapping me, and I haven't even started my Thaumcraft research yet, and I'm horrible with a bow.

Thaumcraft does not use robes. It infuses the raw energy of magic into large, bulky metal armors to make them amazing at defense and magic.
Or, that's what I remember from TC2's explanation.

I would still like robes and such. Give that magic fabric more uses!

Personally, I'd love to see a set of golems designed to follow you around and help out in the field. Straw, tallow, stone, and wood are nice, but they're more of maintaining the home base (Quarry + paired Ender Chests + small collection of brainy stone golems. Just saying). The thaumonomicon mentioned something about an iron golem...I can see that following you around with a sword, smacking aggressive mobs; maybe the brainy version can use a bow and arrows. After all, how many times have you been out there, and heard "sssssssssBOOOM!", seeing your items scatter about as your screen tints red.
Speaking of more golems (and I'm meaning this as a tier 3+ level of research), what about a golden golem to help you locate ores? Or a thaumium one that attacks like the whisps do?
Wouldn't mind a bed that did the opposite of the current. Quite often I want to go hunting out at night- And it's always day time when I do.
Looks like this mod would let you do that. It hasn't updated yet, but given the news it looks like the author is trying to.

Anyone have any tips on looking for Barrow dungeons? I know they sometimes spawn with dark nodes in them, so you could use a thaumometer, but that's not exactly a reliable method, since there are vastly more normal nodes that don't belong to barrow dungeons than there are that do.
Also, where do I get fragments of knowledge? Dungeon chests?

Look for hills with some cobblestone on one side. They're fairly close to perfectly round, and generally appear in plains biomes.

Yes.

I have no real problem with robes, I always equated his thaumaturge to an artificer and there's nothing wrong with an artificer making/using an enchanted robe. Of course it'd have to have some unique properties that can beat out the practical applications of hard armor in order to be worth wearing, but that's its own issue.
Whether or not that's part of Azanor's idea of the style he wants is up to him of course.

Ironchest's Crystal chest? Or maybe they're already there, but because they're invisible, we can't see them... Mysterious, eh?

Some villagers also have them as trades, but yes, Dungeon chests are probably the way to go.

That do it for you? Also, this guy was spawned in with an egg, so that might help.
