Is Forge Universal for 1.4.5 out, because I can only find it for 1.4.4.
The main Forge thread isn't updated (due to many code changes, until its 100% stable). However take a look at this link --> http://files.minecraftforge.net/
Top link will be newest version of Forge (which is 1.4.5).
Something that'd be cool for compatibility with harken scythe, would be to allow kills with the blood scythe to just drop souls if you don't have any bottles in your inventory, and have the option of bottling them later. That way it seems tedious to change scythes to get different kinds of souls, and I really like the simplistic look of the blood scythe. I've got one in my tool shed that looks just like it.
So, has anyone found a fix for the white textures?
i spoke the forge IRC yesterday and they gave me an idea on how to use the vanilla textures. it might fix your problem and it'll add texture pack support

schrödingers cat is
return (new Random().nextInt(2) == 0 ? "alive" : "dead");
but if blood will be a liquid, should souls become a liquid as well?
Honestly, I think it would get complicated if we had both blood and souls in liquid form. Having blood in tanks is awesome of course, especially if we could hook these tanks up to our summoning altar somehow, like say have the option of making grooved stone around it to run blood through and affect our necromancy somehow, but I like having souls as a tangible object. It would also be cool to be able to place our soul bottles around like on shelves and stuff. You know, to really act as a conversation piece when you have company over.

shelves? hmmm. i'll think about it and maybe model something next weekend.
i think you should be able to transform it in to liquid and back so you can have both types becuase i like the idea of having it liquid but i also like Badgyr's idea of having them in "shelves and stuff" like he said
that sound cool
the tanks could work like they do in buildcraft. right-clicking the blood tank could fill up the vial. also, you won't be forced to use the liquid form. you could still store them in vials
EDIT: one more thing, i'm improving the necronomicon (screenshot will be up in a couple of days probably) and i've picked out a couple of covers for you to choose from
i know that the first two look the best, because they are the most graphic. but keep in mind that minecraft doesn't like graphics. the last one is not graphic, but it would look cleaner and less blurried

Hopefully only one place in the code?
Look at the link above, has most of all Forges downloads.
Minecrafts Anvil does wonders
no. but FTB has a magicpack for 1.4.5 and be honest, this mod fits more in a magic pack doesn't it?
necromancy/necromancy.class
try searching for GameRegistry
the 1.4.4 version should work
what names and what do you want them to be?
Anvil?
I want the soul in a jar to be animal essence.
either use an anvil or edit my source code and turn it into a zip to use it as a mod
in the class called necromancy
It was actually in ItemNecronomicon.java
if I zip up the .javas will it work in MC?
No, the .java's must be reobfuscate back into Minecraft format. Use mcp to do this for you.
I like this idea Would add even more aesthetics to the Mad Scientist lab look
i like that : D
