The reason why it requires ModLoader/FML and OptiFine: I do not want my mods to be incompatible with them, because many people use them and some actually need them.
I go onto other mod threads and see people complaining about incompatibility with ModLoader/FML and OptiFine - I do not want that.

The objective of this mod is to improve the visuals of the game subtly without affecting the feel of the game too much. These mods will be purely clientside and will work on SP and MP.

Sandfix! v1.0
Have you ever watched a torch break a falling sand block, and watched it disappear into nothingness?
This mod brings you something to fix that.
Particles.
When you mine a block, it doesn't just disappear - a particle effect appears.
This mod implements this same particle effect for various other block break events - notably falling blocks.
When a falling block is broken by torches, slabs, pressure plates etc. it will release a bunch of particles.
More specifically, the effect used is the same one that you will see if you just mined the sand with your bare hands.
In addition, when an anvil falls and breaks, it will not just disappear. It will release more delicious particles for your viewing pleasure.

FLAMING Arrows! v1.0
Do arrows look a bit bland to you? Are they perhaps somewhat featureless?
I present: Better Arrows.
1. Flaming arrows give off a nice trail of fire and smoke to announce the fact that they are on fire. This improves a lot on the standard fire texture rendered on top of the arrow.
2. When an arrow hits a wall, a small chunk of the wall will come out. Again, this is implemented using particles, so it only LOOKS like a chunk of the wall is coming out. (Currently Disabled due to game-crashing glitch)
3. Arrows stick into mobs! I enabled some code hidden in the new update to render the arrows.

Beacons! v1.0
It's here!
Brings back the much loved spinning crystal inside the beacon block. Also, it fixes some z-fighting (obsidian and glass textures conflicting) with the bottom of the block.

v0.1 - Added the spinning crystal and removed the static blue crystal. Fixed some z-fighting with the bottom of the beacon texture.

That is, unless you aim your bow. This is a compromise between having third person always to the side (a headache to PVP with) and the vanilla third person.

Installation:
Extract (unzip) the contents of the zip file.
Navigate to your .minecraft/bin folder.
Copy the unzipped files (currently pf.class) into your minecraft.jar (using 7zip or WinRAR is the best way in my opinion)

An explosive-like effect (again, using fire and smoke) has been added when a flaming arrow hits an object, as if the arrow spread its fire everywhere!
I am loving the arrow mod so far, it's a simple detail, but it's really nice to have.

I'm working on getting entities to smoke when they burn! Just like when you place down a fire block, and it releases thick black smoke. So will your zombie friends!
