I am having this weird problem with this shader pack with Optifine installed. My whole screen is black while in a world. But without Optifine, the shaderpack works fine. I would appreciate it if anyone would help me fix this problem!
Extra Details: Using Minecraft Version 1.7.10 with Forge 10.13.0.1170
and Using forge 10.13.0.1170 to load these mods OptiFine_1.7.10_HD_U_A3 , ShadersModCore-v2.3.17-mc1.7.10-f1160 , and shaderpack SEUS-v10.1-Standard and some other mods
Did you install the shaders mod and optifine properly, make sure that they are in the "mods" folder in ".minecraft", since you are using forge, and if the problem persists, try other shaders, and if it said any error messages in chat when you create a world, than it is a file error from within the shaders, also make sure to have your best graphics card set for Minecraft for best performance as well as allocate more memory, i hope this helps

Thanks for your suggestions. I updated Optifine to A4 and used Naelego's Cel Shaders 1.0.1 and it worked fine but SEUS-v10.1-Standard still gives me the black screen of death. I guess optifine is not compatible with SEUS-v10.1?

Are you sure you are using the forge version of Optifine? If you aren't using any other mods, try to use the non-forge version of optifine and the non-forge version of the Shaders mod, I currently use both the forge and non-forge versions depending on which minecraft version i am playing on with SEUS 10.1 Ultra Motion Blur, but it should work, redownload the forge version of optifine, you may have accidentally downloaded the non-forge version.

Can you please post your log from %appdata%\.minecraft\logs\fml-client-latest.log to paste.ee?
If you have Forge 1170, Optifine 1.7.10 A4, and GLSL 2.3.17 we should be able to get a good idea of why SEUS is acting that way that it is.
If you have an NVidia/AMD graphics card, Minecraft/Java may be using onboard Intel for example.
Your log will help us to be able to give you a definite final answer.
I wouldn't worry about Forge and Non-forge profiles, use what you are comfortable with :).
Use minecraft Launcher. Run Minecraft 1.7.10 at least once and close it.
Also close Minecraft Launcher before you run this installer.
If you want to install this together with OptiFine, run OptiFine installer before ShadersMod installer.
This installer can detect installed OptiFine_1.7.10_HD_U_A2. It will add a separated profile for OptiFine+ShadersMod.
The installer is executable jar file. Double-click it to run.
If your computer doesn't associate .jar file properly, you may have to run java from command line or batch file.
java -jar ShadersMod-v2.3.16mc1.7.10-installer.jar
After you run installer successfully:
Open Minecraft Launcher. Select Profile 1.7.10-ShadersMod or 1.7.10-OptiFine-ShadersMod and click Play.
Open Option screen. There should be Shaders button. Click it to open Shaders screen.
You also need shaderpack for use with this mod.
Download and copy shaderpack zip file to shaderpacks folder in minecraft folder.
You can select shaderpack in Shaders screen.
JonnyBrando. Here is the log and note that i have switched from Optifine Ultra to Standard and updated Forge to 1178 but still got the same result. Also using the non Forge version of Shaders Mod yielded the same result.
JonnyBrando. Here is the log and note that i have switched from Optifine Ultra to Standard and updated Forge to 1178 but still got the same result. Also using the non Forge version of Shaders Mod yielded the same result.
Be aware that you are UNABLE TO USE Optifine STANDARD, you must use ULTRA with the shaders.
EDIT: You cut out the Optifine initialization and shaders initialization from your log that we need to figure out the problem... :P. Can you please post a full log to paste.ee? You can change your name if you prefer..
Thank you so much,i really apreciate it!
L.E.:Also,do you know if i can download the latest optifine (OptiFine 1.7.10_HD_U_A4) instead of the u-a2 ? i can't seem to find the a2 plus,i think the a4 is more stable, thanks again! (nvm, found it here: http://optifine.net/downloads.php) thx anyway :).
Glad to hear you found 1.7.10 A2! Yes, you can also use A4 without problems (and also IC2/Railcraft/Buildcraft)!
GLSL does support Ambient Occlusion, depending on the shaderpack that you use. I think SEUS, Chocapic, and Sildur all have versions of Ambient Occlusion/Bump/POM in their shaderpacks.
On this note: Death_Dealer, taking out your rage on Karyonix is very immature and un-necessary! His GLSL shaders mod is absolutely amazing, gives an experience to MC unparalleled by any other mod, and works extremely well! He told you multiple times that the texture flipping issue was not caused by his mod, or the shaderpacks -- it is a problem in Minecraft itself. He helped you fix the issue by editing his shaderpack (along with Chocapic). GLSL Shaders does what it's told by a shaderpack. If you don't like it, get permission to make your own shaderpack, and do what you want with it. If this continues, I will report you, show some respect man!
The images I linked above are the bookshelf images (because you mentioned you were having issues with the bookshelf).
The images are:
(The first 3 images) Normal complete bookshelf image with normal & specular maps -- \assets\minecraft\textures\blocks
(The next 4 sets of 3 images) CTM partial bookshelf images with normal & specular maps -- \assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\bookshelf
(The last file) CTM instruction set for what CTM is supposed to do with all 3 image sets -- I don't think I linked this, sorry!
So, if CTM is disabled, it's only going to use the file in textures\blocks. If CTM is enabled, it will read the bookshelf.properties file, and load up however many images are in the CTM folder (in this case \mcpatcher\ctm\bookshelf) and we have 4 images. It may flip or rotate the CTM images, not sure, I've never looked at a bookshelf that close to see if any of the books are vertical instead of horizontal.
Your sand, however, looks very good! Subtle, but it looks good :)!
I'm curious though, your _S file is greyscale, but mine is green. I'm curious the difference. Death_Dealer does not use specular in his resource pack at all, so, I can't even check how he has his configured (and here I thought it was the specular image that gives POM depth?). I may have to fire up SSbump to see how it all works in more depth.
first off this a continuation of a mod, he's not the creater. and not answering questions that have been repetitively asked over and over, nicely asked at that, will gain you some flack from the community. just because you cant handle my oipinion about his work ethic doesnt mean you should take it out on me. why dont you grow up and learn to keep your mouth shut when it doesnt even involve you. you dont even do anything but monitor his threadXD why dont you make yourself usefull and make something, im tired of asking karyonix questions and getting COMPLETELY wrong answers from you. and BTW nowhere on the forum rules does it say your not allowed to state your opinion so go ahead and report me. you will just look stupid.
EDIT: my texture packs do have specular so dont start talking about work you know nothing of. thats why i know how specular mapping works and you dont.
2nd EDIT: he also did not supply a fix, he just uploaded the one i was providing on my thread.

Yes, I am aware it is a continuation of a mod, but Karyonix has put a ton of effort into making the Shaders Mod what it is today. It wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for him and Cody (Sonic Ether). They deserve tons of respect, as do many of the other coders and modders. I understand you make resource packs, sure, but it isn't that hard -- you need massive amounts of time (unless you don't offer mod support than you just need to keep up with MC releases) and creativity -- sure, yours is a little different, you run it though an app and generate a 3D model of the image, ok cool.
Karyonix does spend a lot of time on the forums answering questions, especially with new releases, he's been busy with school and life the past few months -- get over it -- that comes first, always. He's more prominent on the forum than most other developers I've seen out there, I give him credit for that, and if he's going to be away, he lets people know what's going on. That is a huge courtesy to us.
Your questions he answered, your flipping/rotating textures, and other problems with Normal/Specular maps. It isn't even his problem, and he was nice enough to help you find a workaround within a shaderpack (with Chocapic's help if I recall). The problem is in Minecraft itself. It should be fixed in the new releases of 1.7.9 and 1.7.10, but maybe it isn't, but the workaround should still work.
Coming back at me, and lashing out at myself and Karyonix just goes to show how much of a child you are. I understand why you are upset, I understand your opinion, and you are entitled to that. But you went over the line with your accusations and rant. That's why I piped in. Putting a false image on Karyonix is un-necessary and inappropriate. He doesn't deserve that. Think about how much time he puts into the mod, keeping people happy, adding and expanding, making it better. To be quite frank, you don't even do any of the coding on your 'project', you have no idea what it takes. I have done some coding, I have a little experience, but I still have no idea myself.
I'm here to help people with problems, I don't get paid, I don't have to be here, I do this on my spare time and while I'm sitting around at work waiting for computers to image/servers to install apps/run tools/update cad/etc. Neither myself or Karyonix have to be here. I'm not asking for a lot of respect, I do what I can, I make people happy and answer questions. Karyonix and all of the other modders, they deserve respect, they put a lot of time into these projects, and try to help everyone they can. It's not always possible, keeping millions of people happy.
If someone is going to go on some crazy rant and start abusing someone, I'm going to call them out on it, live with it. I'm not in the wrong here. I was polite, and gave you a warning that your attitude is not appropriate. I didn't take it any further than that. If I did report you, it wouldn't be politely overlooked. There is complaining, there is being constructive, and there is abusive. Etiquette, respect, appropriate. You wouldn't go up to a co-worker or your boss and start yelling at him, or knocking him out, why is it OK to do it on the web? We are still people.
Your texture pack includes a Normal Map for depth (_n files), but do not include Specular Maps (_s files). This may be present in your custom 3d modelled 'Forge Pack' but it is not present in your accompanying resource pack.
Well thank you kind sir. Also how is its compatibility with custom models? Like thaumcraft, Ars Magica? Are the shadows and stuff unstable around them?
Well thank you kind sir. Also how is its compatibility with custom models? Like thaumcraft, Ars Magica? Are the shadows and stuff unstable around them?
Shaders Mod works quite well with Thaumcraft, and other mods of its kind.
There are issues with Power Suits, and ProjectRed. Power Suites is fixable, just edit the config files, and turn off the built-in shaders. ProjectRed on the other hand has had some modifications to GLSL Shaders, but I'm not sure if it's compatible yet.
In 1.7.2, ProjectRed made the screen very dark. In 1.7.10, it has visual artifacting and more catastrophic problems.
2.3.17 (for 1.7.10 and 1.7.2) has the ProjectRed patches, but I haven't had the opportunity to test anything yet.

This is a known issue with some of the 750/760 cards, it is not known why it is happening.
It is reported to also happen in other games, so, it is not a Minecraft/Shaders issue.
Hopefully NVidia will have a fix soon!
Other shaderpacks apparently work better than some. Try Sildur's or Chocapic's.
