Mine sticks on "Updating Minecraft - Done Loading" when I try modding it.
I have vanilla minecraft modded with either MCpatcher or OptifineHD and the More Paintings mod. They all work fine.
When I try adding the nosoundlag patch, Minecraft hangs at the above message.
Also, when placing smooth stone slabs there seems to be 2 sound effects. One from the client and then a fraction of a second later.. one from the server.
However i have noticed a few small sound lag issues that this mod does not fix.
1. eating sound it tends to start after iv eaten half the food already.
2. water sound when jumping into water and around in water.
1. I actually did look at addressing eating sound lag when first making this mod. But I came to the conclusion that the logic to do so would be rather complex and error-prone. And it might still be confusing as the food item wouldn't disappear from your inventory until the server sends the "finished eating" packet. I might look into this in the future, no immediate plans though.
2. I haven't looked at water splashing yet, may do so in the future. Good catch, and thank you for the feedback!
In any case, it looks like Mojang is finally starting to address this bug: (source)
Fixed placing sound for various blocks
Given this, I don't have any immediate plans to update this mod. We'll see what Minecraft 1.4 brings, and take it from there. Hopefully I can kill this mod off then!
Of course, the NoSoundLag mod is open source. Anyone who's both impatient and technically inclined is welcome to look into the issue! I do consider pull requests.
sad to see you won't update. 1.4.4 did not fixed the whole problem. just the steps, but not the placing :/
Argh, really? I'll plan to update the mod after all then. It won't be for another day or two; I'll need to do some testing and I've been busy working on my other mod, BuildRegion.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know this is still a Minecraft bug.
Fixed a couple bugs reported earlier in this thread as well, thanks @marsglorious.

EDIT------------------
Ignore the above.
I am an idiot.

Agreed! if you can fix this too, that would be great.
Awesome work though. Great mod.

Minecraft Launcher with multiple ModPacks
I adore Minecraft and the constant updates are cool but it does still annoy that they seem to ignore a lot of the bugs.
So I'm happy to announce that 1.4.2 will be the last version of NoSoundLag.
Check out my other mods, linked at the bottom of the OP!

Thanks for the mod in the meantime
