Before you even bother asking, I WILL NOT grant you permission to use my mod in a modpack.
Well, I will if you pay me
I won't bother releasing a SMP version for 1.2.4, don't really see the reason to make it, way too bugged up
I've also made a server version of popcorn smelting now, THOUGH, it's VERYbuggy, nothing I can do about it, I tried to give items lava/fire immunity in multiplayer, but that ended up in items glitching out when they hit lava/fire, sorry about, to any SMP lovers who visit this thread.
I found a video on youtube showing off popcorn smelting and thought: "I MUST get that.
Found AngryBeast's popcorn smelting mod for 1.6.3, tried to update it without success, pretty much gave up after a few tries, then yesterday (04.02.2012), I decided to try again, with some help of my dear friend lahwran we managed to actually make it work in a new (and a little buggy) way.

Now, to whoever thinks this is a virus, please before you post "urr dur, dis s a vrus, hrr durr" take a look at my profile, I doubt anyone posting viruses would have over 300 reputation. It's also very hard to take pictures of a mod like this (Obvious to people who think a little about it. ) I can't make videos either, so I'd be very pleased if someone would bother to make a video.
Installation:
(Only if you want 1: Install ModLoader)
2: Simply download the class file (No zip or anything) and put into your minecraft.jar
3: Delete meta-inf (If you haven't already)
4: Open up a world and throw something smelt-able (sand is a good test item) into lava and hope it doesn't burn up. Pro-tip: It's smart to stay near the lava block else you'll most likely loose the item(s)!
Change-log: Items are now immune to fire damage. Yay.
Fix the little "bug" with ModLoader, (It was just me being lazy)
Known bugs:
Sometimes the items pop out of the lava without changing, (Doubt there's anything to do with that) just throw it back in. Some items might have the same sprite after it's smelted, porkchops for me doesn't chance into cooked ones. (No idea why that happens, surely a vanilla bug)
Compatibility:
Works fine with ModLoader, as it requires ModLoader.
Should work with anything that doesn't edit hj.class / EntityIem.class
Special thanks to:
NikolaiTheEpicGenius for giving me an "easy fix" to the ModLoader problem, hehehe!
The MCP team for the most epic modding tool ever for Minecraft!
Lahwran for helping me make the mod work!
Everyone in #risucraft for being awesome!
This is pretty awesome. Working on making it SMP-compatible?
Ehhhh, I think that MIGHT be a little problem, since AngryBeast's version doesn't delete items and spawn new ones in their place, but Imma try! :wink.gif:
EDIT: Oh and, this way of smelting the items is buggy, so I think SMP will be even more buggy sadly.
You're essentially making the furnace obsolete with this. But there are risks for this reward so I can't complain. Nice work.
Furnaces are more for like: You have 3 iron for your first iron pickaxe, risk insta-cooking them with lava or use a furnace. :tongue.gif: And ya that "urr durr, dis s a vrus, hrr dur." thing was just.... Uhhhh. :dry.gif:
I deleted the 'METAINF' then added the class file, and the first thing i did was throw a piece of sand in some lava in a creative map, and the game crashed. I tried to enter the map again, and it immediately crashed again. I installed modloader, then opened it again, this time it didn't crash, and the mod works how it should. I'm not sure if i'm the first one this has happened to, but it seems to only work with modloader for me.

How can I add pictures, one where I hold a log then one where I hold charcoal? :sleep.gif: This is not a content mod.
Sure, thankies, :smile.gif: Posted an old video of it.
Thanks! It's cool! :smile.gif: ~ Added to the OP
Hm, no, not really:
1. It's not compatible unless the author of FloatyItems allows me to merge the files.
2. When items touch lava they burn up on the second.
What if you made it so that when the item entity hits lava or fire, the item entity gets launched around 20 blocks up?
That said, I AM going to figure out how to make items invulnerable. Changing the health to 5000 kills the smelting feature, so... Yaah
Glad to see you liked it. :smile.gif:

Um, it's not "cheap", it's one of the most epic vanilla features infdev/indev had, too bad Notch decided to delete it.
Yeah, I agree. I think this mod is pretty neat and look forward to seeing it nice and polished and someday ready for SMP :tongue.gif:
I can only do that if Jeb actually fixes EntityItem.class.
EDIT: Uhhh, not only EntityItem, more of: All the entities in MC.
What if hats were your head and your hats was your heads -*insert name here*
Not anything else I can do with it on the client-side, I am gonna try modding CraftBukkit and the vanilla server sometime soon. :laugh.gif:
