NONE of the new features shown in this screenshot will EVER be used, except one. It's up to you guys to figure out what it is!
Well, i'm going to take a stab at what it won't be... It will NOT be the cactus soldiers! SilverChiren already rejected the idea... D: (you almost had me super excited there for a second untill i saw that only one of the things will EVER be implemented...)
My best bet in this scenario is duel wielding... which quite a few people seem to be asking for (as much as i would personally love so much to see cactus and cake soldiers )
Got the texture finished, gonna see if it worked if i can manage to fix my .jar
EDIT: I've gone and screwed it up again. All the transparent areas became white. this always happens. When I used GIMP it hppened , when i used MS paint it happens.
I was reading through the original post, some of the thread replies and a lot of YouTube videos for this mod, and an idea kind of spawned as a result... I'll detail my idea below, take it or leave it as you see fit, it's the beginning of an idea for the mod, and can easily be tweaked how you see fit. It may lead to something else entirely
So I was reading some of the posts about obsidian items, and the replies about how it would be overpowered... I could not agree more. Obsidian armour and weapons would be far too powerful for the soldiers. But then I got to thinking, what could obsidian be used for, if anything?
What about a new class? Much like the king, this class could only be assigned to 1 soldier per army, and the obsidian would give them the abilities of this class.
The 2 classes that came to mind and that fit best with the theme/genre of the soldiers was; priest, who would convert soldiers from other armies into his own army... or a wizard type, that could throw various splash potions.
It's all good if you don't like the idea, I just wanted to get it out there before I forgot it entirely LOL.

Add this:When you give a solidier a dye of that faction's color, when it attacks an enemy it turns it that color and the solidier hit with he dye basically becomes a new member of that faction.If you like this idea and you put it in this mod please give me credit.

I think me and you had a similar idea about how the enemy solidiers could be turned into the army that got them only with different ways

I use paint dot net, though a lot of texture makers tend to prefer photoshop, or like you were using, gimp. I find paint dot net to be much more suiting to my needs though.

why not make the debugging sheilds have a use and a crafting recipe as a replacement to bowls?(just the normal sheild though because if you did it with iron sheilds as well it would make you lose iron blocks and also change the names of the debugging sheilds)then bowls could have a new uselike a bowl boat

First off, I honestly DO think it would be annoying if the blocking sound would play every time a shield would be hit, so
Maybe the use of the combat sounds (what I'm going to call them ) be used commonly, but not on every hit.
Secondly, I'd prefer if you only used in gam sounds if possible, I think it keeps consistent with the mod already.
Now that that's done, IDEAS!
Shield blocking: zombie breaking down door.
Iron bar duel wielding weapon that's totally the new feature: item breaking
Spawner destroyed: iron golem death, elongated.
King dead: BLLLLAAARRRRGGGGG!!!
Now go use your creativity and get cracking'!
And also, I can't put my finger on clay men using the chests. It's glitched out since v6 for meh.
Still going through tests, but even having 16 Clay Soldiers on one doesn't work.
Well I am in the process of finding a good free picture editing device, and building an Aperture Science themed Arena, using iChun's portal gun mod. Currently that arena has 3 rooms. A small room with a portal generator and two pens to hold in armies, a slightly bigger room with the conjoined portal generator and an aerial faith plate on the floor, and thirdly if you step on the faith plate it launches you in a room made of turrets

I'm still not having any problems with chests at all! And it's impossible to fix a bug I can't recreate! D:

well for me clay men use chests when touching them but don't run to the chests
only tested with logs in chest though..............
You should test as many things as many times as possible, with any number of different chests, to see where any problems might be. Because every time I test, everything works how it should.

wait why not use obsidian to make soldiers immune to fire damage? i mean would it be over powered if a item that needs diamonds to get is used to get fire immune soldiers? and maybe obsidian could make an entire army fire immune so you can make arenas with lava and fire everywhere but also makes soldiers with obsidian take DOUBLE damage from blaze rods but no fire damage and also have soldiers with obsidian unable to use feathers and unable to get iron bars but can ride mounts but only kawako turtles and nightmares and winged nightmares
After seeing that new picture containing the cactus and cake soldiers... It got me thinking...
and then it hit me!
CAKE TURTLES!!!!!!!
and knowing how this idea will never see fruit(cake)ion (but stranger things have happened), I decided to have a little bit of fun changing textures myself, and there you have it, a cake turtle
now my armies can... um... slowly walk onto the battlefield riding atop a turtle with a turtle made entirely of cake

therefore Turtle + Cake = Double Awesome!
I guess whilst clay soldiers remians non SMP people can have custom skin soldiers and mounts, allowing for even more fun and creative battles
