It would also be cool if the bandits held a ransom and can kidnap your kids (They leave clues to where they went) And let the bandits have their own home
Say goodbye to those ugly and boring Testificates! Minecraft Comes Alive replaces the original villagers with humans and gives them an actual use within the game.
MCA features the following:
Villagers are now regular humans. They can be male or female and have random skins according to their gender and profession.
You can interact with the villagers, raising your relationship (hearts) with them. Get someone to like you enough, and you will be able to get married.
You can have a baby with your spouse when you get married. The baby will grow into a child who can do chores, gather resources, and carry things for you.
Your child can grow into an adult. Adults are given the ability to fight and a huge inventory. You can get your adult children married to other villagers, who will then be able to have their own kids!
Adults also play part in a secret feature present in hardcore mode only.

Countless hours of coding has been put into this mod. I provide it to you for free and maintain it during my own free time. If you enjoy Minecraft Comes Alive, please donate towards its development. Every single dollar helps.

5/22/2012
MCA v2.0 has been released! See the changelog for details. There's a big list of new features and changes.
Please excuse some translations, as I personally updated each translation myself using 3 different programs. If you spot something wrong with a translation, please contact me.
I am planning dropping multi-language support on the next major version of MCA (v3.0, if there will be one) unless I get a better way of obtaining updated translations (Ideas, anybody?). I highly doubt those that translate once will have the time to or will want to translate new files each time the mod is updated.
MCA will soon be using RaustBlackDragon's SparrowAPI. This will be an optional download.
See if you can find the easter egg in v2.0 of MCA. There's a file somewhere in the download that should give it away.
5/16/2012
MCA now has a Magic Launcher compatible version in the downloads section!
Everyone thank iiiHuman.

I know I said development is back on, but I haven't found the time to work on it yet. It will come eventually.
5/5/2012
Development is back on, but still at a slower pace than usual. v2.0 is coming along nicely.
On another note, v2.0 of MCA will not feature SMP support, due to the upcoming changes to multiplayer itself as indicated by the recent snapshot. Maybe Mojang will end up doing all the work for me!
Green features have been completed. Blue features are currently being developed. Red features have been canceled/postponed.
No features are planned at this time.

Most Common Questions/Errors
Q. The game crashes when I use MagicLauncher or [insert custom launcher name here].
A. You must download and install the Magic Launcher compatible version above. Do not use the auto installer. Instructions are in the file you download. This installation may not work with all other launchers.
Q. Does this mod work with [insert mod name here]?
A. See the spoiler below.
Any mod that changes the following classes is not compatible with MCA:
GuiGameOver
ComponentVillage
Village
VillageSiege
ComponentVillageHall
It is safe to assume that if a mod doesn't affect the original villages that it will work with MCA. The only compatibility errors you should encounter with any other mods are item ID conflicts, which can be resolved by changing the item's ID in the mod's configuration file.
Q. I get an "n must be positive" error when moving towards a village or spawning villagers.
A. You have installed the mod incorrectly or are using a 3rd party launcher. The mod can't find the villagers' skins.
Q. My villagers are all white and have numbers on their heads.
A. You have installed the mod incorrectly. You are most likely on a Mac. Try reinstalling.
Q. Can I change item IDs or settings?
A. Yes. The mod has a configuration file located at .minecraft/config/MCA/ModProps.properties.
Q. Can I add my own skins to the mod?
A. Yes. Open the JAR with MCA installed, go to the MCA folder, and there you see all of the skins. You can replace or add your own, but if adding they must follow the specific naming shown below. You can not add your own professions. Gender is a single capital letter, M or F. The IDs are limited to 9. A skin with an ID of 10 will not appear in the game.
Skins must be named as such: [Profession][Gender][ID].png
Q. Does it work on Macs?
A. Yes, if you install it correctly. Be sure to watch the installation video.
Q. Does it work on Linux?
A. It should.
Item Descriptions/Crafting Recipes
Wedding Band
Use: Gift to a villager when hearts are 100+ to get married to them.
Engagement Ring
Use: Gift to a villager when hearts are 100+ to become engaged to them. Give them a wedding band afterwards to cause all nearby villagers to give you gifts.
Arranger's Ring
Use: Gift to two different villagers to make them marry each other.
Tombstone
Use: Place on the ground and write on it like a sign as tribute to a deceased family member.
Whistle
Use: Right click while holding it to call your children to your current location.
Inventories
Q. How do you make your child equip a weapon or armor of a certain type?
A. You don't. Ever played The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind? Your companions always equipped the items with the highest value. Children work the same way, except instead of looking at value, they equip the item with the highest durability.
Q. How big are the inventories?
A. Small childrens' inventories are as big as a single chest. (27 slots) Adult childrens' inventories are twice as large. (54 slots)
Interaction
Q. How do I raise hearts?
A. Chat or Joke to take a chance to either raise or lower hearts by a small amount. Give them gifts to raise hearts quickly. The more expensive the gift is, the more hearts will go up.
Q. How do I give gifts?
A. Click "Gift" when interacting with a villager and then right click them again while holding the item you wish to give to them.
Q. What does "Set Home" do?
A. It will make the villager teleport to that location when nighttime begins, so they don't wander off.
Marriage and Engagement
Q. How do I get engaged?
A. Give the engagement ring to a villager when their hearts are at 100 or above.
Q. What does engagement do for me?
A. It causes all villagers nearby to give you gifts based on their relationship to you.
Q. What kind of gifts do they give?
A. If the relationship is in the negatives, they won't be very good. 0-25 hearts will get you a few building supplies, tools, etc. 25-50 will get you even more supplies and tools, and 75-100+ will get you full stacks of building materials, arrows, a few diamonds, ores, etc. Obviously you want a very high relationship with everyone.
Q. I'm engaged, but I get a warning when I go to procreate.
A. If you procreate while you're engaged, you don't recieve any gifts.
Q. How do I get rid of the warning and get gifts?
A. Follow the answer to the question below.
Q. How do I get married?
A. Give a villager a wedding band when their hearts are at 100 or above.
Q. Can I marry more than one villager at a time?
A. No.
Q. Can I marry a villager with the same gender as myself?
A. Yes.
Q. How do I make my spouse hold the baby?
A. Gift it to them or place it in their inventory.
Q. Can I end my marriage?
A. Yes. You can either kill your spouse or go to a priest, click "Duties", and click "Divorce Spouse". Your spouse will keep the items that are in their inventory if they're not present with you during the divorce.
Arranging Marriages
Q. How do I arrange a marriage?
A. Craft two arranger's rings. Make the two villagers you want to be married follow you so they're close to each other. Give them both a ring.
Q. Do they have babies?
A. Yes. You must give them both a cake while they are close to each other and they will have children.
Q. Do their babies grow up?
A. Yes.
Q. How long does it take for their babies to grow up?
A. Both their babies and their children take the same amount of time to grow up as yours do.
Babies
Q. How do I have a baby?
A. When married, click "Procreate" when interacting with your spouse.
Q. What do I do with the baby once I have one?
A. You have to wait a certain amount of time for it to grow. The time is 10 minutes by default but can be changed in the configuration file.
Q. Do I have to be holding it in order for it to grow?
A. No. You can put it anywhere and it will continue to grow, like in a chest for example. You monster.
Q. How many can I have?
A. You can have only one baby growing at a time, but you can have an unlimited number of children.
Q. How do I know if it is ready to grow up?
A. A message will appear telling you so.
Q. What if I don't see the message?
A. You will be told each time you start your world.
Q. How do I make it grow up?
A. Right click the ground while holding it.
Children and Chores
Q. Do children grow up further?
A. Yes. They grow into adults after 60 minutes by default. This is changable in the config file.
Q. Do they grow up by themselves?
A. No. When they are ready to grow, a message will appear telling you so. You must interact with them and click "Grow Up" to make them grow.
Q. Do my children require any items to do their chores?
A. Anything you can do without items, such as chopping trees and killing animals, they won't require any items as well. But as for fishing, farming, etc, they do require items.
Q. Does the material of the item matter?
A. Yes. A better material will of course yeild a better result.
Q. I told my child to hunt and he disappeared?
A. This is normal. He will return to the spot you sent him hunting at after about 5 minutes.
Q. My child died while hunting!?
A. There's a chance that they will die if you don't give them some armor and a weapon.
Q. For mining, what does "Passive" and "Active" mean?
A. Passive mining means they will help you locate the ore that you select. If there is some close to them, they will tell you how far away it is but not which direction. Active mining means they actively mine through blocks. You must tell them to follow you when they are set to mine passively.
Adults
Q. Spill it. What is the hardcore secret?
A.
If you die in hardcore mode and you have unmarried adult children, you can spawn as one of them and keep your world!
Q. How are adults different from children?
A. They are able to fight mobs, have an inventory twice as large as children, and can get married to other people.
Q. How do I make them get married?
A. The same way as you do two normal villagers.
Q. Can they have kids?
A. Yes. The same way as two married villagers.

Okay... do you have awareness of your surroundings?
That's about the same as having a baby on a 2-block island surrounded by a sea of lava. In the nether.
Yah probably not the best Idea but whatever it was definitley something LOL about. *sigh* good times and besides I meant to hit follow me not procreate. Damn you LAG!

The FAQ is your friend. You're getting an "n must be positive" error.
I made my son marry a villager and they disappeared before you updated, then i updated and it crashes every time i go to that specific world. Do you know any fixes for this.

Go to:
.minecraft/config/MCA/Worlds/[Name of your world]
and delete the Entities folder. If you have a child that was hunting, you will lose them.
In the MCA update 2.0.3 changelog you posted greatness now starts at 1 instead of 0, what does that mean?
"Greatness" is what I call the generation of your great grandchildren. The "Great x# Grandchild", the # is the greatness. It sometimes started with 0 when you had a great grandchild, instead of 1.
And happy about it
Did you really quote the entire OP?
And all the existing villagers vanish if i try loading an existing map.
Yah probably not the best Idea but whatever it was definitley something LOL about. *sigh* good times and besides I meant to hit follow me not procreate. Damn you LAG!
The FAQ is your friend. You're getting an "n must be positive" error.
Your kid has this skin if you name it Katniss.
Holy jesus dude, edit out that quote.
Eventually, yes.
Sorry for my bad english
I keep getting that message... Not sure why... Names keep bugging out.
Are you switching languages? When does it come up?
I'll need your ModLoader log to see why it's crashing.
I don't plan on making villagers build or a building chore.
It comes up upon my starting of the client, and I am staying with Engrish (default american engrish)

Level up Adoptable!
It shouldn't be coming up then...I can't reproduce it. How are the names glitchy?
I'll need your ModLoader.txt log to see what is wrong. I cannot reproduce this crash.
I'm guessing you're asking when will it be released.
I don't know yet. Possibly when v1.3 of Minecraft is done.
awesome, it worked, but what went wrong
"Greatness" is what I call the generation of your great grandchildren. The "Great x# Grandchild", the # is the greatness. It sometimes started with 0 when you had a great grandchild, instead of 1.
