Just saying, I found a great way to get around waiting for an update. I reverted back to the last stable version, 1.4.7. I will wait patiently for updates to be released!
Just so you know, and if you ever check this, my antivirus refuses to let me to the download website for NEI because it was blocking a trojan file from downloading to my computer. You should check that out, because I am being prevented from downloading your mod. Just in case you troubleshoot and don't find anything and you need to post a note about this certain antivirus program, I'm using Kaspersky Antivirus 2013.
That probably happens alot. As this thread is so popular and there are so many downloads on the file, I suggest that it's safe to override your antivirus
Yeah; something is hosed up with NEI. When I log into my server, even tho I have it set that ALL can set the time and weather; no one can see their buttons (and the recipe file is half empty...)
I can confirm this. If a user is in OP mode; the proper buttons show up - otherwise they do not.
Also, in non-fullscreen, page 3 is hosed up (doesn't show a next/previous button), etc...
EDIT: I had to uninstall them from my server - they're way too buggy. After signing on to my server, I decided to just leave it be and see what happens; picked up some wood planks and they poofed on my cursor.
Hey why do we need to install forge for 1.3.2 if the mod is for 1.5.1 and how do we install it because it doesnt work i followed the directions exactly and it didn't work
Wanted to say thanks for updating to 1.5.1 for starters. But unfortunately I have some problems to report.
First of all, NEI doesn't show up at all for me. Codechickencore and NEI both show up in the mods list, and I've tried it without any other mods loaded, but I can't toggle the interface or anything. The config file seems to be set for it to appear, so I imagine it's not simply "off." I tried updating from Forge 604 to 608 but still nothing. So I dunno!

I have the same problem, but II'm not in fullscreen and only my first page is messed up with the buttons not showing up. I have 3 pages in total and the other 2 are just fine. My graphics card can't handle fullscreen Minecraft, so I can't confirm a change with the first page in fullscreen. I hope this is fixed soon. For now I'm using TMI because I can't handle not having the buttons. So thanks in advance and take your time.
I had the same GUI glitches as seen in your screenshots 1 and 3. I could see the blocks listed on the right and the Options button at the bottom left, but none of the other buttons/etc from NEI were showing.
I found this was caused by the "GUI Scale" setting under OptiFine's video options. I had it set to "GUI Scale: Large" when the NEI interface issues were showing up. Once I changed it to "GUI Scale: Auto", NEI went back to normal and worked perfectly :D.

I have the same problem as you, i did what you said. it worked ... a bit (page 3 of NEI was still buggy) do you have other solution to this problem?
Well, sort of. I've been looking at this a bit more and I now think the GUI Scale setting only changes things by accident.
When I'm using GUI Scale:Auto, I can view pages 1/6, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, and 6/6 without problem. If I attempt to change to page 2/6 it goes all weird. I can fix this by fiddling with the GUI scale settings for a bit, or there's another workaround. If you click where the item search text box should be near the bottom, you can still type in it even though you can't see it. So start typing a few letters until the GUI goes back to normal, return to page 1 in the search results, and then backspace out the letters you typed.
So given this somewhat strange behaviour, my current theory is that NEI is bugging out on one or more of the items which is found on page 2/6 when I'm using GUI Scale: Auto. Thus when I was using Large before, which is actually smaller than Auto, the bad item(s?) showed up on my first page instead of the second, which meant NEI was bugged out right from the start.
I have background in comp sci, but I'm new to Minecraft, so I don't have the domain knowledge needed to figure this out any further. Maybe someone with more Minecraft experience can figure out which item(s) are causing the issue and why.
FYI, I'm currently using Forge build 605. I tried 608, but that produced on-screen error messages from NEI when I tried to look up the recipe for something.
Edit: One more thing. I'm fairly confident that this isn't a mod conflict or a texture pack issue. When I tracked down the GUI Scale setting earlier, I had stripped Minecraft down to the bare bones to find it. I was on default textures with just Forge, NEI, and Optifine once I found the relevant setting. Only after that did I add my other mods + textures back in.
If it makes a difference, I'm using Magic Launcher, so my actual Minecraft jar is unedited from release.
I now have some reason to believe that this might be a general Minecraft and/or Forge bug, rather than something specific to this mod. I was just testing another mod which also listed every block. As I scrolled down the list, I successfully reached a row ending with a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern. Attempting to view the next row crashed Minecraft.
If you look at screenshots #1 and #3 posted above, both show a pumpkin as the second-last item before the list cuts off. I noted the same thing when I was looking at the issue - I also had a pumpkin and a cake just before the NEI list broke.
As an alternative, maybe NEI and the other mod I was just testing use some other dependency in common besides Forge? It was CJB's X-Ray mod I was testing. But this doesn't explain people having the same issues with creative mode.
I can confirm having this issue as well. It seems to be worsened when in tandem with Optifine, but after taking ChickenChunks out, it solves the issue altogether.

While I thank you, Chickenbones, for updating to 1.5.1, I am sad to say that I cannot launch Minecraft with the chickenbones core file in the coremods folder. I attempted the 4 versions of forgemodloader for 1.5.1 codechickencore.jar has prevented Minecraft from launching at all. pastebins follow.
After installing FML and Rei's minimap, the game works. Adding codechickencore.jar to the coremods folder results in this error log: http://pastebin.com/v2cbtQQ1
Like I said, I tried all versions of FML and could not launch minecraft.
Running Windows XP on AMD Athlon x2, 2GB RAM, nVidia GT520.
Seeing as no one reads these I don't know why I'm posting this anyways.
If you're having an error that says something about FML or FORGE that obviously means you didn't install FORGED correctly.
I see close to 150 (of 180) errors since I was last here 2 days ago (waiting for a reply) where people are complaining that NEI broke their game when their error report does not reference any of chickenbone's mods. To top if off only a few of you managed to post it in a paste-bin
Well here's the fix
Delete your bin folder
Reinstall Minecraft
Reinstall Forge
Reinstall the correct version according to the version of minecraft you are playing
???
Profit.
I hate to be hypocritical about people not using the search feature but MOST of your error reports are the exact same. Again it's just an error in your bin folder and deleting it will fix the problem.

Considering that since his 1.5.1 release, done last night - there have been a page and a half of errors - and not ONE OF THEM mentions Forge. They all say they are having GUI issues - myself included. Installing forge isn't going to fix anything. The problem is with NEI.
Lastly, I *HAVE* done a fresh install on MC; and the problem persists. So maybe you might want to actually read the last couple of pages yourself.
Dang it. Edited right before I was going to answer you D:

Looks like you didn't install the core?

Second, when I have ChickenChunks installed, my item icons go all screwy.
I Pastebin'd a log in case that's any help. This is with my current 1.5/1.5.1 test map with all my currently-installed mods enabled.
