Interesting.. I been playing around a bit with the mod. Seems that the strip registers in the same way as a torch does. In other words it checks the collision between player and instance (IE the torch) and decides that there isn't a collision. But it does check for a block and then places a block on top. (why you can create an airlock with sand and torches)

What I would advise for future refrence, is instead of a stripe placed on top of a block, (which the stripes can then be painted on anything) Have special road blocks already with the stripes, much like colored wool. The paint brushes would then instead of only painting a striped ontop of the block would then change the Damage ID. IE White wool is Block 35:0 So red would be 35:14.

By changing only the damage ID. There wouldn't be another "block" placed ontop of the road and there would never be any issues with collisions.(Though this is only my suggestion of how to work around the issue)

Other mods that use this same method is Industrial Craft which introduces Construction Foam which form hard bricks that can be painted into any color. Second Mods that uses methods like this is TrainCraft and RailCraft which the locomotives can be changed based on Dye that you use by right clicking.

Other objects "static objects" or blocks isn't really an issue as you pointed out. But Entities such as mounts, see this as a collision object and again creates issues. It is the first time for me testing out this mod, so there is a first time for everything!PS: It is never to late to fix bugs. Just time consuming, lol.
