OK So I just installed the ComeCloser mod, and it's enabled properly. When I change something in the config file, nothing happens ingame. It just stays at the default 64 block range. I've tried the following numbers:
1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 1.1, 1.4
Did I try a wrong number or something?
Might have, or the config failed again. By default it should set its self to 1. I'll make an update for it to better config and add in new options.

It should work for forge make sure you download the right version. If not just wait a day and i'll have an update up.

Hey, this mod is great, except we're finding one issue. Whenever the server is turned off or restarted, the archers and other guards stop attacking the opposing team. They will still attack hostile mobs and new archers that are created will attack the other team, but old archers that were created before the server was restarted will no longer attack the other team. Are you seeing this same issue, or is it something I've set up wrong?

Hmm i have not noticed this but then i have not been actual playing minecraft as much as i use to. I'll test this while i'm working on the update and get back too you. The guards might just be losing there target memory, do they attack player still after restart? or are they ignoring players completely after restart?

whats up with the guard contract item and whats it for because i can't use it in ssp and i can't have a team in ssp because both sides attack me especially archers! otherwise good mod can't wait for offensive!
contract item was going to be used to craft the guard spawn items but i voided that ideal. As for SMP you need to add your name to the config file called teams. In the future i'll fix it so you type a command to both create a new team and add people to teams

Yeah, they won't attack any players after a server restart (except if they get attacked first, I think), although I haven't tested it THAT much. We've been making sure not to turn off the server since my last post just to make sure they will still attack.
Another annoyance, the guards beat on all our wooden doors all day, making that annoying beating sound! I wonder if we were playing on hard difficulty if they would break them down too.

Sounds odd which version are you using? Also that beating on door was me trying to get them to open doors. I'll make sure to fix it.
also meant ssp not smp because in ssp both sides attack me and i would like it if neither would but attack each other sorry for not making that clear

I'm using v1.2.5r2 for mc 1.2.5 and the guards swords don't show up and the archers and mages are desperate to kill me otherwise its cool

lol loves simple mistakes, when making this mod i used the same code for smp as ssp and forgot to remove the smp part from ssp. Which told the guards to attack players, so that was an easy fix once i found it. You ok on asking and i've been trying to port it to bukkit in the past but its not easy. Right now though i'm working on some major changes too the mod. Also welcome to the minecraft forums.

Uploaded a Test version its mostly stable but i have not tested it more than to check if guards spawned and shoot players,

hmm looks like i need to fix it then. I'll have a new version out by this weekend. If i get it right there will be no need for a config file client side.
