I found a way to control the day and night lengths on a server.
I'm thinking of changing the mod to be the earth spinning has slowed and the day is burning hot and the night is freezing cold.
If your in the dark on the surface you will take damage just like if you where on fire. you need to stay by torches (or anything that melts snow) not to freeze.
if your changing this mod to one where the earth slowly stop rotating there are other stuff you need to add such as weather disruptions and the seas changing since when the earth rotates it gets a bludge of water at the eqauter so if the earth stops rotating or loses its rotation the water level should go hire in the night then go down in the day due to the heat

Those seem extremely hard to implement, and... where exactly would the "equator" be in a flat box world?

I explored ways to lower water slowly, the same idea could be used to raise the water but i think the changes involved would cause ungodly lag. I may make a new mod that causes a flood.

I should call it
Currently when players are more then 3 blocks from a light source they take damage, if there out side.
I'm starting to like the idea that you take cold damage underground also.
And I'm trying to decide if I want undead mobs like zombies to survive the cold or not.
If I can create a mob that acts like a zombie but looks like a snowman that would be cool basically frozen zombies.
The next update will be more impressive I got grass to die

nope, the world would only get destroyed if you used pandora's box
