Yes, though I've tried with just /mods/mod_fossil.zip as well, and I've tried with the zip and the folder. All three don't work.
For 1.4.5 the folder itself goes in the mods folder. There is a config file for it that goes on my desktop as it causes issues and won't run if it is in the normal config file.

Installed Forge 6.4.2.448.
Extracted mod_Fossil_7.0a_1.4.5.zip into /mods folder.
Ran Minecraft.
Note the Forge version. It works with 448, but won't with 447. The config file found in /config is automatically generated when the mod starts. Hopefully using Forge 6.4.2.448 won't be a problem.

I have an idea... or 2
First you can breed Dino's by giving them acceptible foods. One of them will get pregnant (or EGGnant ) and will need a nest. Dino's can build a nest if you drop enough wheat or dirt(depends on the Dino) you can craft one (ill post the recipe l8ter) or you can take a nest you find somewhere. The mother will protect the eggs and her hatchlings until they can take care of themselves.
Nest recipe:
M=main ingredient(dirt or wheat)

Second is Dino's can be different colors(randomly chosen)

- Turned off the block breaking for dinosaurs by default for now.
- T-Rex will kill mobs it runs into and fill its hunger if its current hunger is below 250.
- Conditions to get T-Rex has been altered for now. Artificially growing one with Chicken Essence will still put it in a weakened state.
Well, i'm not sure, i've two five-day-old triceratops, i can mount them, but i'm not able to control it.
i read hundreds of posts here, somewhere at round page 100, there was written i should use WASD when the triceratops is in follow-mode.
Is this still the case or is it a bug or is that my fault? it would be such a great fun to ride with them through my country.
Another question: there were pics of the models and the stone boards. i can create neither. when right-clicking on the floor/wall nothing happens? why is that?
I can confirm WASD does not control them right now. I that bit was commented out in the code. A whip, maybe a carrot on a stick will direct them. I should be able to get the other two things working this weekend, I think the code just needs to be updated to the latest changes in minecraft/forge code.

He's workling on the stone tablets.. been mentioned before.
As for time machine.. i don't think that was fully implemented with the offical version.
as for entity names.. Thats nothing major doesn't stop you playing the game.. plus i think its an easy ish fix.

I did as the instructions stated, i installed forge then ran minecraft and i got the mod folder so i made the mod_Fossil folder and extracted the mod into the folder and put the folder in the mods folder. When i run minecraft it lets me log in then the Mojang screen appears then i get a black screen D : what do ?

Tottaly. Imagin Tekkit with mo'creatures, fossil/archeology, the new time traveller mod, zeppelin mod and Flan's mod. One day maybe i will make a multiplayer pack with all these mods.
In fact they should tottaly make a deal with time traveller mod, this is such a promising mod and have very much things in common. The dinossaur mobs are based on the Dragonith amazing mobs. It would reinforce the 2 mods.
