i thought i'd mention something else -- hopefully that hasn't already been mentioned. it seems that the new tools are inordinately powerful. for instance, i was able to make a reinforced stone pick immediately upon starting a new game (just need some stone -- not hard to find at all), and it allows for mining at a speed almost comparable to a diamond pick! also, it does more damage than a regular iron sword! is this intentional?
That was something leftover from the last modder, I didn't notice that the speeds were so high, I tweaked them a little bit so it should be better
i thought the whole reason dwarvencraft is being made was not to rely on the surface world at all? Dwarfs are strictly underground so it debunks the name completely..
The point is to no longer be dependent on the surface, but we don't want to eliminate it. There's no mechanical reason to return to the surface, especially if the mod progresses to the point to include all the new underground wildlife, but removing the ability to use wood seems restrictive. What about people who want to use the mod in worlds where they already have wood in-use, and like the way it looks? If it expands options rather than forcing a choice, I think it will be a better and more popular mod overall.
Another reason for not overwriting too many base .class files is for the sake of compatibility with other mods. The fewer overwritten, the lower the chance of incompatibility with other mods.
On the subject of incompatibility, I know the old release did not work with Nethercraft, but have not checked since the update.

Not really, Dwarfs are actually pretty dependent on the surface, as it is the only place to grow trees, but this mod puts a new idea that dwarfs found out how to completely replace wood with stone.
soooo, i didnt see this in any other comments, but when i try to craft diamond rods, it crafts obsidian rods instead. any one else?
Not Able to work on it tonight, I keep messing up and having to redo the source code T_T. Although I found the problem, I just keep on making more problems.
Guess thats my cue to go to bed.

thanks, wasnt sure if i had messed it up somehow. Otherwise, great mod!
There is no way to heal yourself unless you find an apple in a dungeon because you cant make stone bowls unless you get seeds first before you go underground or if you go back up to the surface. You should add stone bowls so we can make mushroom soup.

Funny you should mention that, I actually finished makeing the Stone versions of the Mushroom soup and the bowls yesterday, but I had a few things that I needed to fix so expect something later tonight
I did everything right to installing the mod but all the diamond rod i try to make becomes obsidain handles and if you try make the hammer with obsidain rod and reinforced diamond you glowing obsidian hammer. Also trying to make iron rod it make stone pick axe. Am i the only one getting this problem even after reinstalling the mod 4 times with clean jar file?

Conflicting ID's on my coding part, trying to do so much I loose some things here and there will fix it asap
EDIT: Updated, most items will be different now read the first post near the download link. If you are still having problems then more than likely I should not be modding.
About poll: would my suggestion for a Dwarven Siege Drill be considered the other option or a tool?
Other, although I'm not to interested in it as it doesn't seem to be a Dwarven thing. When I think of Dwarfs I think of short little miners that are based off of tradition.
I'm open for it though, so after a while I'll put all the odd suggestions up and let the people pick what they want for this mod.

If you post your ModLoader.txt, somebody might be able to tell you what went wrong.
