Hey I only heard about the CNC machines today and I have a few questions about them after reading the posts about them.
Type:
Will they be a Mill or Lathe? or both?
Programming:
Will they use the widely accepted G-code? or something like Forth?
Tech tiers:
Will we make a Mill or Lathe and then upgrade it to a CNC machine or will we have the CNC machine as the one and only one?
Would it be possible to create a system where the machine would break if you set it up wrong? and cause bodily harm?

this is a video showing what CNC is and what can go wrong, no fleshy parts just metallic carnage. I personally have seen a tool break off and crack half-inch plexiglass.
I'm only asking these questions because I work around these machines on a daily bases.
Side note:
Will we be getting 3d printers?
I have made one with frames and is a pain to change what your wanting to make.
Well, I popped on the fourum to see what the status of redpower acctually was, since windows wiped out everything I'd had (1.2.5). Love redpower to death (just the WIRE makes things worth it, not to mention playing nice with most of the other mods I've tried.). I can't wait to see it get updated to 1.3.2, but it's going to take some time. Poor gal and only type so fast (and pased on SillyBits' post, apperantly 'only type so fast' is, acctually, pretty darned fast. Redpower is a big mod, and it's not like Mojoing's handing out source code all over the place..)
Don't work TOO hard, Eloraam! I'm sure everyone will tear into the next release as soon as it come out (also, tahkns for making the computer FOURTH powered, nice to know the basics of a scripting language BEFORE I try writing programs for it, lol)

Well I agree with that, she can work at her own pace and when its ready its ready no sense in taking the cake out of the oven until it is cooked right?
A head-up on "current" RP2 progress, taken from an 8 hour old (starting somewhat after 18 minutes, nearly to the end):
(would expect those episode at most one day old, so the most current info one can find)
did not see that the first time around
but it is nice she has said some thing after two months. I wish see was a bit more like CovertJaguar and at least say something more frequently then 3-5 months at a time.
giggle - is she a real person or a product or are collective imaginations.
And with the amount that 1.4 is changing - new lighting engine, Mod API (is that still in there?), etc. RP for 1.3.2 will last for several months before RP for 1.4.
I'm just hoping that MC 1.4 is considerably more stable & functional than 1.3.2 which is not generally an enjoyable experience.
The stated plan for 1.4 according to Dinnerbone is a Halloween release. Not sure if that's still on the table or not, but it suggests that the Mod API is still at least another version away. :\ It also means that, at best, we'll only get a few weeks with RP for 1.3 before the update.
On the bright side, for all the content additions, it doesn't look at the moment like 1.4 will be messing with too much under the hood (other than lighting and sound FX). Which means most mods probably won't break horribly after the update, forcing everyone to do yet another big rewrite. Hopefully...
Eloraam's probably already thought of this, her being an electrical engineer and all, but I had an idea for a transformer to convert Industrialcraft power or Buildcraft power to blutricity.
Use microblocks (or a new type of microblock) to make a square 2 blocks in diameter. On both sides of the square place fine copper wire. Connect one side to and IC2 cable or BC conductive pipe, and the other to a jacketed blulectric cable.
Gold microblocks could be used for the BC transformer, and copper microblocks could be used for IC2.
Silver microblocls could be used to up the voltage for blulectric machines (ignoring the RL differences between alternating and direct current, and the fact that it's the number of coils around the ring that changes the voltage, not the material of the ring itself).

She has thought of it...
It's in her plans...
Because it's in her plans she won't let anyone else do it... except ThaumCraft. ...trololol

At least it's not just a suggestion to add transformers. Because that would be a stupid thing to bring up.

Mojang lies, the modding api is a myth... it was supposed to be 1.1, then 1.2, then 1.3, and now 1.4.. next is 1.5
I'm not sure the information posted so far included specifics. I'd expect that with the being Eloraam that they will use some form of Forth, probably be made from component parts. Doubt it will break badly (though the control can set it's self on fire so maybe).
My understanding of Eloraam is that she has worked in heavy engineering so probably understands how real CNC works (even if she hasn't used it in daily life), and so far most of the more realistic parts of RP have been pretty close to RL equivalents.
Ok was just wondering but G-code is so easy to use even though it can make a person look stupid real fast. but a forth equivalent would be very interresting.
But for those of you wondering what is G-code here you go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-code
I tried the code you suggested, with the same result. It spontaneously raises the piston, then lowers it, then ends the loop.
Here is a screenshot of the command I entered, I highly doubt it's something as simple as a typo. I've done programming before, just not with FORTH.
I think I see the problem here. There's something hidden here that I haven't mentioned before because I didn't think it would be important. I keep output 16 on almost all the time. So I can't simply check that the status of IOX is 0 or not. I need to stop the loop when bit 8192 (green wire) is on and only when it is on. That's either going to be a value for IOX of 8208 or 8192. Likewise, I need to initiate the state change when bit 1(white wire) is on, and only when it is on.
I was under the impression that a command like IOX@ <bit number> would give me the status of that bit. That's clearly wrong, but how do I access just one bit?
Ruby, Emerald & Sapphire Armour Please?
And maybe Amathyst gems, or basically more gems.
That would make a people in a big group easily recognise each other.
She deliberately only included the 3 gems. More would just be clutter, in my opinion.
And how much are you imagining mod makers make off those adfly ads?
I'll give you a hint, 10,000 downloads from people (NOT using adblock) gets them 5 whole dollars.
10000 downloads.....$5....you don't think their time developing and updating these mods for people who don't actually give them a single penny each isn't practically doing it for nothing?
Come over and clean my house for 1 hour I'll give you a whole penny.
Edit: The whole 35/100's of a cent she gets from someone downloading all 7 parts of Redpower x all the people downloading probably doesn't even cover the domain name for her blog/file hosting.
Methinks someone's brain got caught on but the first part.
So my server is now just waiting on Redpower 2 for it's worldgen for large biomes. There is no way to get around this wait, right? I'm just curious as to if there is a way to get the marble/sapphires/etc to gen without actually having the full mod released. I just have to wait like everyone else I'm assuming?
I have a question...
what do you use tungsten for?
If you have Equivalent Exchange, it's worth a LOT. Otherwise, absolutely nothing.

Let’s play good guys against bad guys… Yes. Let’s play that. Are you ready? You’re the bad guy. And when you’re bad, you just run. That’s fine right? Well… Shall we play?

RP for MC 1.3.2 released Oct. 2013! cue sad trombone!
I don't care about new features when the current one are just awesome.

I got izzet and mtg is baws. it pwns. real hard.
And the lighting will not be in 1.4 Dinnerbone stated he was reverting to the old system to work on the new one more for 1.5 .

I agree. I quickly run out of uses for them.
