So what is the problem?Does it have something to do with incompatible?Thank you.
So about the save converter...I'm a little confused on something.
I want to edit one of my Cubic Chunks worlds in MCEdit, which I'm told is only possible if I convert it to Y-Mod first.
Do I need to actually have Y-Mod installed to convert my world to a Y-Mod world?
If so, can I have both mods (Cubic Chunks and Y-Mod) installed at the same time?
Please help!

Hi Zodorac,
I posted an answer to your original question about this in my thread [Here]. It's the best I can help on this for now, perhaps Robinton or someone else can elaborate further. Some of the talented folks here have done some wild things with their maps and may be able to help you more. :smile.gif:

Im sorry if this has been answered already, but if cubic chunks hasnt been bukkit ported yet, id like to give it a try, quite sure all i need is an updated list of replaced class/java files so i can recompile it.

It can't be done by porting it to bukkit, without adding lots of new code. Bukkit can't tell the client to render more than 256 blocks in height, so you would either have to mod the client to see more than 256 blocks, or add code to decide what portion of the world the client should render, or some other addition.
But you're welcome to try. The files replaced can be found in the OP, and the additions can be found by decompiling it.
Then again, you can always port cubic chunks server as a bukkit mod and add cubic chunks client to a non spout minecraft, like any other bukkit ported mod, thats what im trying at least.
Also that list says its outdated quite sure.
*Checks it again.* It also seems to be for client unless the changed files changed so much that they arent even the same anymore.
*Update* I think i found the config file on mcp with the name list tho, so ill proceed with a new attempt.
Thanks for your help ill report any progress. :biggrin.gif:
*Question* Does anyone have experience with java/netbeans? i got everything but it isnt recognizing the bukkit jar files as a library, so its giving me not found errors.
*Almost there!* Ok so library works, wich made a lot easier to identify the remaining wrong code, alltough im not sure how to fix it, most of these errors are named "Illegal start of expression" wich seems to either be typing error or method inside method, either way, almost all these errors are in "SpawnerCreature.java" and some others in "StructureGenerator.java" and the "World.java", either way im trying to look for the errors but any help is appreciated.

If you manage to do this, you are my hero! My friends and I have been waiting for spout because it includes cubic chunks but we sure would like more height on our server pronto. Doesn't seem like spout will be out for a very long while.
Well, i seem to be nearing a breaktru, but theres also bad news, in 8 hours or so from now ill be leaving for some days, but with a bit of luck, it will be ready by then.

Sorry for the lack of updates / activity over the past week: I've been working at switching Hard Drives on my computer, so that's been taking up most of my free time.
Fortunately, I've still had time to work on Bytecode editing. Though I haven't tested it, I actually think that 4096IDs for MC1.1 is a few config file updates away from working (aside from getting my computer working again - and having more than borrowed internet access)! The best thing is: it overwrites ~5 files! (Alas, one of those is ModLoader.class. Risugami, forgive me :wink.gif: ). Also, most mod incompatibilities can be fixed by adding the incompatible class file's name to the config file. :biggrin.gif:
@Machinia: :biggrin.gif:
@buggy1997123: Thanks for telling us.
@owller: Two mods you have installed are both trying to use BlockID 105. Actually, I think that more accurately, a mod you have installed is trying to use an ID that Minecraft is already using (I'm guessing that because pu.class is definitely an obfuscated Minecraft name). Try changing around mod_MineColony's config file so it doesn't use BlockID 105.
@Zodorac: "Do I need to actually have Y-Mod installed to convert my world to a Y-Mod world?" No. You can have a map in YMod format. Just don't load it with Minecraft. Only load it with MCEdit! You can load it with Cubic Chunks when you're done editing it. And look at MineCrak's official tutorial.
@DrakyDarkstar: Feel free to try, just give me credit for the original. If you manage it, nobody else will be asking me about "why no haz bukkit update". :wink.gif: It's a difficult task; I wish you well...
And sorry I haven't kept that list updated. The best thing would be to cross-reference CC with MCP's obfuscation spreadsheets.
@soraminoru: I'll try to update that sooner rather than later, then. If anyone wants the code for that, though, I'd be glad to give it to them.
@jve22: Hang in there, I'm working on it.
@DrakyDarkstar: Congrats on the breakthrough / near breakthrough. Again, good luck!
@MineCrak: Because I didn't know, either...
The Spout Christmas wish-list includes including some sort of cubic extended height, so since I read it a month ago I've assumed that they would try to re-implement Cubic Chunks, or would copy from my code (which would be ok with crediting).
Robinton. I did a little poking around concerning Spoutcraft and found something a little disturbing regarding their "Cubic Chunks".
They are throwing around the term Cubic Chunks only in a generic sense of 16x16x16 chunks, they are not from anything recent I've seen referring to or making mention of using your mod or any standards from it at all other than 3D Chunks.
They are still trying to decide on a World Save format, Height limit and everything. So essentially they are acting like they've never heard of your mod and are doing everything from scratch.... And just "by chance" using the same name as your mod.
You might want to get in contact with them, in a nice way though. :wink.gif: I'm sure you could speed up their efforts tremendously.
I've also been investigating SpoutCraft since learning that it supports height modification.
Apparently, it has had configurable height since a 1.0.0 build. It does NOT currently use a cubic chunk save format, but instead uses the same method as Fishtaco/Vatec to get extended heights as this plays better with vanilla.
Cubic chunks IS a generic term for cube shaped chunks, you can't get around that. It's likely that they have heard of Robinton's version, but that doesn't really matter. They'd need to code their own anyway to have it compatible with their code and philosophy. In other words, they want a version that plays nice with vanilla clients and doesn't modify base .class files.
I also don't think it matters what they call it, as it will be incorporated into their base code as the default save format (even for 128 worlds). It will just be part of Spout, the same way that their currently non-advertised height mod is.
MineCrack, do you think you could create a Spout section for your heightmod megapost? As it turns out, SpoutCraft is the only actively updated heightmod since Vatec's got banned, Fishtaco is MIA, and Robinton is waiting for 1.2.
Once I get time in the coming week I can investigate interoperability with the other heightmods as well as the save converter.
Of course. If there is an implemented, usable and supported Height Mod available for Minecraft I will add it to that OP. I so far have stuck to only General purpose solutions, I don't know what other changes to minecraft people would be getting with spout. I was about to add MineT's Mod once it stabilized with it's next version, for which I knew a good amount about, but then he took off. I'll still add something but he should have been back by now.
In any case; As of right now I know next to nothing about spouts Extended Height support and capabilities/specs or whether they are even accessible or usable by end-users at this point or how or even where to send them for more real info. I really have nothing to report on it in my OP right now other than to tell them to not confuse whatever spout is doing with Robinton's mod. I will wait until I have a lot more info on this before I confuse a bunch of other people with it.
* I would hope they would try and contact Robinton about this, they must know about the Cubic Chunks Mod, "Cubic Chunks" were called 3D Chunks here before Robinton came along. He's always been wide open when it comes to helping other modders with Cubic Chunks and even gives out portions of code. Heck, he even agreed to give format code & info to fishtaco & Vatec for their height mods save formats. Robinton & Nocte have crafted a fine-tuned and compact Save-file format for 3DChunk world formats that Robinton is already willing to share.
I would just hope that if spout is going to choose to reinvent the wheel that they really do so and don't just take Robinton's code/solutions without friendly attribution. He has been the one candle in the night all this last year that has made 3DChunk Higher Worlds a reality for Minecraft, despite all the **** some members of the community dished on him back in the day when the NDF was adamantly preaching it was impossible to have higher worlds "because notch said so"...
bflipped: Thanks for the info here and in PM! Yeah, it makes sense that they are actually using a Linear Chunks method right now. I would have found it very hard to believe that they had a 3DChunks method already worked out.
In any case, even if they have a Linear Chunks method in place and available to people right now then that's still good news for the community. They just need to get that news out. :wink.gif:
And if they are planning to upgrade to a 3DChunks method; well, I know someone who could help them out, :biggrin.gif:, regardless of what customizations they need to make for the spout method. Because one way or another, it requires massive changes to how minecraft operates, whether they inline those changes into the base classes during run-time or hard-change them they WILL need to change them. Robinton has already been there and done that regarding a lot of hurdles they will encounter implementing 3DChunks.
Also; Robinton has already been investigating ways of making the Cubic Chunks Mod here modify minecraft at runtime instead of hard-changing the jar, allowing it to work with most any other mods. :smile.gif: Can't say when that would come but it is something he's investigating.

I've experienced these errors while trying to recompile Cubic Chunks from a decompiled .jar
The way that I got around it was to simply disable creature spawning. Use 'eclipse' to scan the code for errors and search all classes for the function calls called.. something like 'initialiseSpawning()' and comment it out along with the whole initialiseSpawning() function from SpawnerCreature.java
As for the other errors, some can be deleted, some need to be fixed and some are just duplicates created by the decompile (they can be deleted)...
Yay! New HD / new WindowsXP install working! Almost everything copied over! I can now test 4096IDs_Bytecode in Minecraft... and ModLoader still crashes because the file location string is null. Hmm...
Unless something goes very wrong, I should have 4096IDs updated within 2 days.
And someone just got a touchdown on the Super Bowl. Not sure whom, but someone did. :wink.gif: :tongue.gif:
@MineCrak: It would be nice if they would at least copy my save format. I'd be glad to let them see the source files for that.
@bflipped: Good info.
@MineCrak: For 4096IDs its less than 2 days away (as long as the sky doesn't fall on me, or my new HD crash, or...). Cubic Chunks ByteCodeEditing is more complex because of how '0's are hardcoded, so that will take longer...
@kinnikinnick: Thanks for the good advice. BTW, I have a feeling that I've asked this before, but is there anything you've released for CubicChunks that I should put a link to in the OP?
When I brought up the spout cubic chunks I really didn't intend that to cause any problems. I just assumed by the name that they were working with Robinton and his mod. I am sorry if I gave any wrong impressions by my original assumption.
I'm just so damn excited to get a working height mod for our SMP server that also works with the other mods we want to use (specifically home teleport and creeper explosion not damaging terrain).
I hope the spout guys are nice and amicable about all of this because the sooner we can get something going, the better!

HDD crashes suck, hate em, but you are one of the best modders around in terms of community support(being nice) and skill. I love what you are doing with compatibility, if you can get a runtime code injection deal going it would be amazing. Good luck with the tidal wave of bugs that I am sure will come up once this is released, may I suggest to divert full power to internet-rage deflector shields?

No problems at all, in fact you brought a very real issue to the forefront. If you thought they were referring to this mod then I guarantee a LOT of others will too. In any case it has spurred greater awareness of what is going on with Spout and allowing us time to communicate with them. So thank you!

So what is the problem?Does it have something to do with incompatible?Thank you.

@MineCrak: It would be nice if they would at least copy my save format. I'd be glad to let them see the source files for that.
@bflipped: Good info.
I'm just so damn excited to get a working height mod for our SMP server that also works with the other mods we want to use (specifically home teleport and creeper explosion not damaging terrain).
I hope the spout guys are nice and amicable about all of this because the sooner we can get something going, the better!
No problems at all, in fact you brought a very real issue to the forefront. If you thought they were referring to this mod then I guarantee a LOT of others will too. In any case it has spurred greater awareness of what is going on with Spout and allowing us time to communicate with them. So thank you!
Robinton: I have an account at the Spout forums now, so I might stop by over there and say hi. :wink.gif:
