Very nice that someone took the initiative to implement the difficulty suggestions.
If I can make a suggestion of my own, how about a finer granularity in the half-heart spawning method? At up to 60 per minute, that means the minimum is 1 per minute -- which is still quite fast (a typical mining run can easily take 20 minutes, meaning that any damage will be healed entirely -- unless you turn off healing altogether).
Why not set it up on an hourly basis instead, with up to 3600 half-hearts per hour for the people who like healing every second? That way, for people who like reeeeeally slow regeneration, they're still covered at the absolute minimum of 1 per hour. (There would be a side effect to that: if they quit, they'd lose accrued time. But I think that's perfectly reasonable.)
I suppose the other possibility is just to use a floating point value instead of an integer value with the ability to directly enter the number (might have to switch to Lahwran's Settings/GUI API instead of ModOptionsAPI) -- for instance, 0.016667 half hearts per minute is of course 1 half-heart per hour. A setting that anyone can enjoy even on higher difficulties is 0.2, corresponding to 1 half-heart per five minutes.

You know, it occurs to me that the French are, in general, a highly melancholy people. On every street they rue something.

I will take your suggestion, i wouldn't have to do much, because it reads on ticks in game, all i gotta do is remove multipliction by 60 in my calculation, will be out in next patch, but will not stray from modoptionsapi
Wow! thats sounds amazing :biggrin.gif: i ever wanted to make my game harder :tongue.gif: or at least with lots of enemyes :tongue.gif:
Can i alter spawn rate or something that increases the chance of finding a creeper, or a skeletons? This would be great :tongue.gif:
Anywayz, downloading :tongue.gif: i like this mod :tongue.gif:
Hey Riyt. One problem here, with this mod. Whenever I change the settings & exit, the game resets them all. Any reason?
I am currently using Modloader, with JReader and the ModOptionsAPI. Along with that, I have Cannon Powder, which shouldn't affect the Difficulty settings.
Should I always be online when changing settings?
Oh, I played in ssp with this mode and it's very interesting. It also looks like the spawn rate has been changed, am I wrong?
One suggestion: a "default" configuration (the same as the original one) would be nice because sometimes, it's nice to start from what the original game is and just modify a little bit some parameters (increase the damage)
Anyway, I was just looking for a mod to adjust the damage and this mod can do much more than that, great !
This mod is great. However, my son also plays on my account and pc. I use local settings. So I need to know the default condiguration settings for him. My settings are too hard for him. Could you post a text file of the game default settings?
I just found this thread. I really like the idea of having control over the difficulty, especially of being able to change the way mobs perform etc etc.
Looks to me like it hasn't been updated for some time though so its bound to cause conflicts with the 1.73 version. Shame really becasue I'd use this mod is a second.......
Is your custom difficulty mod Forge compatible? I use a lot of mods, so Forge is necessary for me. If it's not, do you plan on working on it to make it compatible in the future?
Could you update this mod to 1.8 or 1.7.10 please? This is just what I have been looking for to make minecraft harder. or do you know of any similar mods like this with 1.7/1.8 support?
Hey guys, sry about the wait, I have been preoccupied with school, you know finals and stuff, I'll get the update very shortly.
1.5_01 is now supported
When you start the mod, are there a "default settings"?

Nothing to see here, move along.

But it's an excellent mod !
Difficulty settings will be updated as soon as Modoptionsapi is, please be patient.
Thank you
diamonds for you sir
