I have a problem with Minecraft 1.6.2 + Optifine C4 Ultra + MagicLauncher 1.1.7
I cleaned up all jars and used mojang's launcher to get a brand new 1.6.2, then I did the optifine auto installation.
Everything works fine, I can start Minecraft with Optifine using mojang's launcher.
But as I tried with MagicLauncher, I made a new config with environment 1.6.2-Optifine-HD-U-C4, it starts Minecraft without Optifine in it. I have no idea why it does that.

With MagicLauncher you need to include the OptiFine zip file. Just rename the jar to a zip for that part, but you still need to include it in the mod area.
everytime I start up a world I get this error

I really do love this mod it really does help, but when I use Optifine Ultra some textures are missing like the hands of the player and the top of the chest. I am running linux ubuntu.
I just got a new 1.6.2 jar and installed forge. Put Optifine C4.jar in the mods (no other mods installed) folder, but now my minecraft just disappears. What did I do wrong?
EDIT: NEVER MIND, I'm just an idiot that didn't read
I just got Forge and ran the installer. I ran the game a time or two to make sure everything was loaded. Once I put the Optifine.jar file into the Mods folder in my .minecraft directory and run the launcher, the game window disappears. After about 5-10 minutes, the launcher comes back up filled with hundreds of errors. Not sure why it isn't working.
well good job, you have successfully made optifine impossible to install for any one using mcpatcher to install mods, NOT including forge, because mcpatcher cant install jar files.

Q: What's the difference between a .jar file and a .zip file?
A:THREE LETTERS.
I am TOTALLY serious here. The ONLY difference between a .zip file and a .jar file is the file extension so that Windows knows to feed it to the Java interpreter instead of opening it as an archive.1
If mcpatcher will only work with a .zip file, and is too stupid to know that a .jar file is the exact same thing, rename OptiFine_1.6.2_HD_U_C4.jar to OptiFine_1.6.2_HD_U_C4.zip. DONE.
1 Well, plus of course that the .jar — "Java archive" — is expected to, well, you know, contain Java code. But you can rename any old .zip file to .jar and double-click it, and it will open with Java. The JVM just won't find any Java code in it to run.

Having this same problem as well.
In detail, I am running Forge, with .804, and Optifine in the mods folder. I click to run Minecraft, go to the launcher as normal, but once I click, Minecraft just never loads up. Everything else works, if I remove Optifine from the mods folder. The only difference between success and failure seems to be having the Optifine .Jar in the mods folder.

In the line underneath this you spelt "awesome" wrong. You spelt it as awsome.
I know right?!
Not related to OptiFine.

I am still having the same problem! Any help?

You need Forge 830 or 845.
Just rename OptiFine.jar to OptiFine.zip, problem solved.
I like this idea.. It'd certainly benefit me
