just tried this, it had no affect whatsoever on my system, other than reducing my framerate to 60 (monitor refresh rate form vsync and all)
Bummer. Thank you for trying though. I would still like to hear if it has helped for anyone else. Definitely did for me.
Also, didn't realize this was there before but there's also a "VSync" option for the "Performance" button in the OptiFine settings. If you get a moment, maybe try that too just to see. For me, it actually made things a bit worse again. Could maybe have the opposite affect for you.
Only the 'most commonly used' by those who use it, the rest of the world actually reads the studies that say Firefox is the most used browser OUTSIDE OF THE WORK ENVIRONMENT! With Chrome looking to pass FF.....
I'd like to see those studies, if you don't mind. If you'd be so kind as to link them, so that we know you're not just making unsubstantiated claims.
I've been hearing stuff like this since the days of Netscape, and it doesn't change the fact that Internet Explorer is provided with every copy of Windows, so all PC users have access to it. It makes sense for website designers to keep that in mind.

Not really, it isn't 'provided' with Windows, it is a core file that the OS cannot run without. I do not have links from months, if not years back. The only website designers who design for IE are either a. told to or b. doing so because they are designing for a corporate environment. There is no excuse for the amount of fatal flaws in IE that there are. There are STILL the same couple of ActiveX security holes in IE9 that have been there since IE5. Oh, and we just had a fairly long discussion about this very fact in my server administration class, kind of can't link to a verbal discussion now can I. Do you know why IE is used in a corporate environment? Because in Windows Server you can set up group policy, many of those are related to IE, and ONLY IE, the stupid number of things you have to lock down because of the holes in IE is ridiculous. 90% of what an admin has to remove access to are flaws that could allow a serious breach of network security, whereas 50% of those flaws are non-existent in FF and Chrome.
guess i should have reported that i tried that as well. when you suggested the hardware vsync, i thought, maybe the ingame one would help. tried it first, no affect, then went to the hardware attempt
in windows 7, and i believe vista, you can now completely remove IE from your computer, which is a godsend for us home users, but as you mention, is horrid for the Server OS. which is a pain in the ass to deal with itself :tongue.gif:
IE has ALWAYS had security holes, and always will. regardless, people will still take a good 5 or more years before they STOP USING the stupid thing.
and to the one you quoted, try google... i found about 5 different websites in a few moments all with the info you requested, and then some
Actually, you CAN'T remove IE, you can remove the ICON, that's it. The entire OS is run in an IE type browser type thing that I don't quite understand, but I understand enough to know it's permanent...that lawsuit microsoft lost a few years back, not 100% clear on the details but it was something about IE being shoved down our throats, so microsoft just changed it from a 'feature' to being a required part of the OS code. Vista/7 literally will NOT run without part of the IE code, all countries but the US have a version of windows that does not include IE fully, but just the code required to run the OS, the US wouldn't pass the law to disallow them from doing that.
it may just be me then
control panel -> programs and features -> turn windows features on/off
when i look in the windows files for any part of IE, they are no longer there, at least for me
Oh, they are there....they are built into windows....trust me on this, just like you cannot remove windows explorer completely or the start menu, or the control panel, or paint surprisingly...
I am using the new version an when I install it on my MAC it loads and everything but I am unable to join a multiplayer server it just says "Connecting to Server" forever.
I installed the pre5 and all I got is the white screen.

Please refer to this video regarding Minecraft LPs:
I'm using vanilla Minecraft 1.8.1 + Optifine HD AA D2. Mipmap Lv 4, Linear, Anisotropic 8x, AA 4x.
After closer observation of what's happening on screen, I narrowed down the problem of the AA/AF filters. This happens on all ATI cards I have, all using the same settings; 5850, 6750, 4870, 6850.
Adaptive AA kicks in only at a distance, take a close look at torches, glass edges.
If adaptive AA is turned off in driver, torches and glass looks like blobs
Polygon AA works at all distances. I'm guessing this is an AMD driver problem. Can anyone confirm?
Well for one thing, your Graphics Driver is about a year out of date.
The current version for your GPU (which is the same as mine) is 285.62, and you have 187.66
I'll take care of that later.
Anyway, what about the problem I'm having right now?
soo. all my textures are screwed in d2 version. any one know if t will be ok with d1???
Are you using connected textures? both of the _AA versions seem to not play nice with it, any block that has textures that connect look bizzare and or wrong textured, did not happen in HD_S_D
Alright, I am getting this annoyingly vague error after clean jar installing MT_D2, any clue what's going on? And yes, I installed these manually, didn't use the patcher.
Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem.

I need some help please!
I've been getting a "saving chunks" screen everytime I try to start/enter a world, and the screen doesn't change, just freezes at saving chunks. The first time I tried, I used the Smooth optifine, and instantly I get the saving chunks screen everytime I enter a world. The second time I tried, I used the classic optifine, it worked for a bit, but a while later I got the saving chunks screen. Been getting that screen constantly ever since. Now I try using the multi-core optifine, same thing :c
Oh and btw the major mods that I used is Modloader for the first 2 attempts, and I used Modloader Audiomod and GUIapi when trying the multi-core one. All the mods work fine and Minecraft doesn't crash without optifine so I really don't know what the problem is :c
Dear Princess sp614x, OptiFine is ****ing awesome.

You say it's a clean jar but it lists tons of mods...to be sure, you've tried it without the mods to make sure it works without them (on a new world, perhaps)? I don't know that any of those would conflict with it, but it's always a good idea to eliminate this as a possibility.
Also, have you tried any of the other versions (ie not the multi-threaded one)?
