I'm working on CTM stuff for my pack and I think I've found a bug.
I had originally set it up so /ctm/ contained glass, sandstone, and bookshelf folders. I've had to change this to having all three in /ctm/default/ so that they overwrite the default OptiFine ones (or at least they didn't work until I did this).
I have a couple of variants for each of the connected bookshelf sections so that I can randomise and thus break up the pattern. For some reason this isn't working even though it works find in MCPatcher. I have figured out that OptiFine doesn't like me using matchTiles on anything in the /default/ folder. Just to illustrate what's not working I removed all but the /default/ folder, added a new folder called /z/ and put a new .properties file inside containing:
OptiFine does not support yet the multi-layering of CTM rules (the result of one CTM as input to the next one). The first rule is bookshelf CTM and the second one is random bookshef on top of it.
Added to TODO list.
For me, Optifine has worked great. It has improved my FPS ten-fold. But since the 1.5.1 update, Optifine has been decreasing my FPS from around 90 down to about 60. I tried this with and without any other mods and the results were the same. I'm not sure if this is a Minecraft problem or an Optifine problem.
When the 1.5 update came out, the first version I tested was Ultra A8. I did not have any issues. Later, I tried Ultra B2 and had issues with it. Today I tried Ultra C6, in hopes that things had settled down and the problem had gone away. It had not. So I started fiddling with settings to see where the problem was.
The problem is a terribly slow and nearly unresponsive client.
I found that turning the animated textures to OFF was sufficient to make this problem go away.
I have tried several texture packs, but this one here is the one I use most often, and is causing this issue. It appears that something in this texture pack, is combining with something in Optifine, to create a terribly slow, and nearly unresponsive client on my machine.
I have submitted this to the texture pack creator on the chance that he has done something incorrect in this latest texture pack. I am also submitting it here on the chance that perhaps something specific about the textures in this texture pack, expose an otherwise unknown/unreported bug in Optifine.
If your using forge and have installed Forge into the jar make sure to install Optifine last.
C6 is up is it not?
I have been reading a great deal of posts lately dealing with upgrades to 1.5.1 and I have to say I am overwhelmed. Boy did they make mess of things for mod makers. I really want to express my appreciation towards SP and all mod authors for all the work you are doing. I probally would never have gotten interested in Minecraft if it were not for mods! Optifine is one of my primary mods and probally will always be so my hats off to you SP! To everyone else please be patient the bugs will get worked out.
