Some of the bugs found when testing the almost finished version may reveal a general problem that can not be solved and I have to go back to the drawing board again and find another way.
I'm guessing that's why Connected Textures are taking so long to finish?

The Connected Textures were a lot of work, reading the 1.5 CTM format and checking different texture packs, but nothing really unexpected. The problem was with the Mipmaps and I had to find another way to do them The nice coincidence is that this way also works for AA and AF so I can tackle them now.
Most of the problems are trivial to do, but the easy solution is slow. Finding a way to make it fast is the challenge.

If void fog is disabled it also negates the blindness potion effect. Would be nice to fix this as many mods use the blindness to have drawbacks and make some mobs more difficult.

I'm hoping that the fix Mojang is doing on the lines around the blocks for 1.5.1, won't mess too much with the render code and undo your hard work. I kinda winced when I saw the changes made.

The current version of optifine is incompatible with forge but it should be compatible in a late release of the mod
frames with optifine: 45-213!

I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt that you'd need alternative textures added for different block rotation, unless it was a connected texture.
Please wait for the next optifine update, it will probably fix your issue.

their working on it if you read the changelog its says forge compatibility is TODO in caps
Thats a problem with the texture pack, not with the mod.
