That's just it ... their remove page
says I only have one version installed. I used THEIR uninstaller to
remove any old versions.
Ok. I just went to the java uninstall page again... it says I only have the x64 version installed.
Redownloading.
EDIT: Ok, y'all are correct. I clicked the wrong link, thinking I got the x64 executable install ... I did not. Redownloading and insuring I got the right one fixed the issues.
I noticed an issue with my Optifine that I'm not sure is intended or not. I downloaded Optifine HD Ultra and the render distance on my game got all screwed. I can't see further than like, 4 chunks around me, and if I face away from a chunk, it'll disappear until I turn around and face it. Then it loads all over again.
It does improve my FPS without a doubt, but my laptop is capable of handling a higher render distance. There was no setting I changed that fixed the render distance (tried them all - render distance, VBO, fog levels, chunk loading, etc.) I could set it on Extreme and it'd still only show a few chunks around me.
P.S. I tried on multiplayer servers AND single player, and it gave the same result. I also tried setting the render distance with the "options" text file, didn't work.
Can anyone confirm if this is a feature of Optifine, and if it can be adjusted?
I can adjust the render distance in 1.8.4 optifine.
For a few versions now, I've had a weird icon in my taskbar for Minecraft. I'm using 1.8.4 Minecraft/OptiFine at the moment, no other mods, and the icon is normal when I don't have OptiFine installed. I apologize if this has come up already, but I can't look through 2,000+ pages of comments. Anyone else have this issue? If so how did you fix it?

Try clearing the image cache on your PC. Located in your Appdata folder, under Local. Delete the file and kill the explorer.exe process and restart Minecraft.
Just tried that, no luck. And yes, I tried Googling, couldn't find anything.
i'm having an issue getting this running,i can't run any of the versions from 1.8.1 up with forge but if i run the latest 1.8.0 version with forge,it completely messes up the textures and i can't even read them

I'd try right clicking it in the taskbar, right clicking Minecraft.exe and clicking properties, and I think you can change the icon, IDK anymore I use linux, and choose the right file.
can anyone help me?
i can't run optifine through forge because it throws water and lava textures all over the menu and makes me unable to load any worlds to play

That happens because the game can't read the icon file for some reason; when I launch the game from within MCP I get the same thing, along with a stack trace in the console, which in this case I presume is MCP not copying over the assets correctly (the game works without problems though). I haven't seen it happen when launching the game normally though, modded or otherwise, although I haven't tried the latest 1.8 versions of Optifine:
Also, this is one of the lines of code listed in the stack trace (Minecraft.java:303), which indicates what file is missing:
When looking through the assets folder I found them in minecraft\assets\virtual\legacy\icons. I wouldn't be concerned about it if nothing else is bugged.

When you right click the icon, the only option is "Close window". Otherwise I would. Thanks anyways.
Correct, however this would not work. Since the logo is booted from Java itself, this action would need to be repeated every time the game is launched.
If you were to get the new .msi launcher from Mojang, it comes with its own version of Java so you don't have to worry bout it
Sorry, forgot to hit quote
I can adjust the render distance in 1.8.4 optifine.
So, i remember in the older version, things like glass would remove the gride, making it look like one large block, has that feture been removed?
I think its still there with supported texture packs
I been using Faithful32, so I guess maybe the newer version i got for 1.8, somewhere didn't have the connecting things, in it.
(Removed)
I think there's a second texture in the forum post, i forget where, that I got that adds connected textures,
EDIT:
Found it:
Ty, it worked well, now glass connects, making it look nicer to me, and I am sure the other will too, if need be.

Is the 1.8 version compactible with forge?

Anyway to make Optifine not remove the Forge loading thing at the start? I'd really like to see if my Minecraft is loading without the console.
I found this when I google searched the icon: https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/32h0fz/something_is_changing_the_icon_of_my_mc_what_is_it/
I guess its the logo of a java file :/

Still not working :/ Using forge 1428
Can you please fix the recent forge updates for the new loading screen. It really sucks not having the loading bar it's too pretty.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Just tried that, no luck. And yes, I tried Googling, couldn't find anything.
Tried that too, still nothing. I mean its not a big deal, everything works fine, its just bugging me.
When you right click the icon, the only option is "Close window". Otherwise I would. Thanks anyways.
Ohh, well that sucks
