Im just asking but, how hard would it be to port Optifine to the snapshot versions of Minecraft?
Very hard.
First, there is no MCP (Minecraft Coder Pack) for the snapshots so the deobfuscation has to be updated manually.
Then the 1.8 snapshots are reorganizing the whole rendering system (new threaded rendering, block states, block models, etc).
It may be at about 30% done when the next snapshot comes out.
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I've noticed the Optifine's ctm doesn't support block sub types (my dirt has podzol tops because they have the same block id), or ctm's used for random blocks or changing the texture of blocks that don't have a standard block texture (fences, buttons ect.). It ,as well, doesn't recognise cits. I was just wondering weather they are on the optifine to do list.
The CTM with sub-type (metadata) works just fine. Make sure to unclude the metadata in the properties. If it only says "block=55" then all the sub-types are included. The CIT is practically ready, It is not released yet because it changes several classes which are also heavily modified by Forge.

you can fix that, i pretty sure that is a bug from optifine with Extra Utilities, when i install optifine in vanilla minecraft nothing happens, but if i install extra utilities with any version o optifine, cause this issue in the textures, i tested with optifine and vanilla, extra utilities and vanilla and extra utilities with optifine cause the issue.

are you 100% sure? I once thought a mod was causing a crash cause it worked when I took it out but found out it was a completely unrelated mod that worked when either 1 of the 2 of the conflicting mods were removed but my point is, it could be a completely unrelated mod that you think wouldn't effect these two...
Edit: after 20 tries, literally, it finally posted...
ok, i tested again and something different happens, now not have that issue, thank you guys for the help, maybe i will testing again with some mods that can cause that bug, i am using some mods, maybe 20 and again i will testing to find the mod that have the conflict.

You may include multiple skins for the same mob and the game will automatically pick one at random. Add a number to the end of the filename before the .png, e.g., /mob/creeper2.png. Start at number 2 and do not skip any numbers. For the wolf textures, make sure you include the same number of wolf, wolf_tame, and wolf_angry textures or it will look strange when a wolf changes moods.
I try to create a .properties file to set up biome-specific mob textures in OptiFine_1.7.2_HD_U_D3 (say to make cow2.png only show in deserts and cow3.png only in Plains), but no matter what format I use, nothing seems to be working.
Can somebody confirm that it still can be done in Optifine for 1.7.2 and up? Other MCpatcher functions work just fine, including .properties files for blocks (as opposed to entities), but I just have no idea why I can't get mobs properties to work.
Mrdnra, most likely you just need to disable "Threaded Optimization" / "OpenGL Threading" in the video drivers' control panel to remove the flickering.
Not sure where else to ask for help on this. Optifine works wonders in Vanilla for fixing the lag spikes every 3 seconds, thank you for that. However, I really want to play with mods. I installed Forge, dropped the mods in the mods folder and installed Optifine last, but it doesn't seem to work when I launch the Forge profile. I can still zoom in and Optifine shows up in the mods list in game, but it doesn't stop the lag spikes anymore. Any help?
Would it be possible to include Optifine in a mod pack i am helping to develop. We have an upcoming public release on the ATLauncher which targets minecraft 1.7.10.

the more interesting thing is when i run minecraft in the first time, nothing happens, but the second time, the bug happens.
