Optifine is 99% finished. Forge compatibility is one of the last few things to be finished. So yeah, it'll be compatible soon.
Hey I just wanted to throw it out there that I use Forge and OptiFine together with no problems at all. I just downloaded the latest recommended version and that one is working with forge as well.
"Preview OptiFine A6 Ultra for Minecraft 1.5.1: (almost everything works, AA/AF not active, not compatible with Forge) Download, mirror"
.____. So...I tried using this on 1.5.1 and as soon as I inspected the startup menu,it said 13w12~
and as soon as I went to play on a world it crashed... ._______________.

Some people say this works, others say it doesn't. Who knows. Could be people installing wrong or it could just be something random for some people. Either way, i'll stick to vanilla until the full release is out.

Just a dude that's into Minecraft that's always looking for new texture packs, mods, etc.
Hey. Just wondering. Animations still aren't working for my texture pack. They work fine with the newest version of MCPatcher and 1.5 & 1.5.1. Are they supposed to be working with these versions of OptiFine?
Also, random mob .properties files aren't working either.
Just a heads up if any of this is news. I know you're busy. I just don't know enough about how OptiFine technically works.

Animations are not working yet. They're on his "to do list".
Also, I've noticed that vertical ctm doesn't work on the pillar quartz block. It works fine when I stack it vertically but not when it's laid horizontally.
quartzblock_lines.properties
tiles=4-7
quartz=pillar
method=vertical
And my mossy cobblestone texture is mini doku's decorative stone and not actual moss cobblestone so I just used CTM to direct the game to use a more appropriate texture for the mossy cobblestone wall however it's not working. I am pretty sure my .properties file is okay since prior to 1.5 it worked fine.
I went back a few pages and didn't see anyone mention this. Sorry if it's already been reported!
When I enable anti-aliasing and dig blocks, the overlaid digging texture becomes bright, like its alpha channel is incorrect or something. I uploaded an image to give you an idea. Stranger yet, when I toggle the UI off and dig at the same block, this doesn't occur.
I find this a coincidence, because when playing 1.5/1.5.1, I could swear that I think this breaking texture is being overlaid on top of the particles that fall away as you dig. If not that, then something is making it look odd to me at times, regardless. So I don't know if this bright texture bug is entirely Optifine's fault, or partially Minecraft's.
I'm currently running 1.5.1pre with Optifine A6. I noticed it initially in A4 with 1.5, as a matter of fact, but I dumped all my 1.5 mods for the fps boost and stitching fix in 1.5.1pre as soon as I saw it up, and assumed the digging issue would be taken care of before I tried it again. It's not, so I thought I'd pass it along.

It is Optifine's fault. But only because he hasn't coded anti-aliasing in yet; it's on his "to do" list.
I can't wait for the update. I legitimately can't play Minecraft without this mod.
Of course, I DO have the Magic Launcher... And I saved my 1.4.7. jar. I guess I could play on the previous version, but I've really been itching to mine some Nether Quartz and make some nice things.

I removed the quartz=pillar line (since that was just a note I had left for myself in the .properties file and MCPatcher's texture pack conversion tool converted the file that way) and it's still not working. The vertical CTM works for the pillars placed vertically and should apply to those laid on the ground (I use the same CTM for my logs and the CTM is applied to both vertical and horizontally placed logs so I assumed the same logic would be applied to pillars). I figured since it's a new block you probably just overlooked it. It's certainly not a deal breaker; I'll still happily use Optifine.
I know you have more important things to code -- I just wanted to let you know so that eventually you will fix it since I understand that this mod is first and foremost something that helps people get more FPS. CTM stuff is an added bonus.
How to install the lastest version of optifine? =/
From the opening post.
Installation
A. Easy Installation
1) Download and start the Magic Launcher 2) Click Setup, click Add, select the downloaded zip file 3) Click OK, login and play Minecraft
B. Manual Installation
Windows/Linux Instructions: 1) Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Windows, it's in %APPDATA%/.minecraft/bin 2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar 3) Open minecraft.jar in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc) 4) Delete the META-INF folder. 5) Copy (drag and drop) the .class files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file, replacing previous files. 6) Run Minecraft and test!
Mac Instructions: 1) Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Mac, it's in <home>/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin 2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar 3) rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.zip and double-click it to extract the contents 4) rename the resulting folder to minecraft.jar and open it 5) copy the .class files from the downloaded zip into the minecraft.jar folder, replacing previous files 6) Run Minecraft and test!
How do i fix the "White" spider? The texture pack is not the problem. The owner of the texture pack tells me his pack is fine and it's working completely for him. (No white spider) How do i fix the white spider? =( I installed the lastest optifine.

Thank you again sp614x for your amazing work on this project. I have one query. Fresh copy of Minecraft 1.5.1 with no mods. Manually installed OptiFine_1.5.1_HD_U_A6.zip. Everything working perfectly apart from AA, as noted in your OP.
AA and AF are not finished yet, in A6 they can produce visual artifacts.

WIP site for my mods / Intermediary / FMC / Redstone Paste / Hopper Ducts / Model Citizens / Simple Refinement / Endermanage / Fycraft / etc

Derp, I looked at that list more than once, actually, but I guess my eyes kept drifting down to "Forge compatible" instead.
Nevermind, then! I'll just leave AA off for now.

I will check the memory leak after the 1.5.1 version is released.
"quartz=pillar" is not a valid CTM definition: https://bitbucket.org/prupe/mcpatcher/raw/master/doc/ctm.properties
