Hey guys, I've been having a little trouble installing OptiFine. So, I correctly put all the contents of OptiFine in my Forge Folder (After deleting the META_INF inside Forge), then I typed in the code in the Edit Profiles section so it would work. Now, my Minecraft launcher does not appear to have any problems with this, until it X's out and starts up Minecraft for real. The problem is this: when it tries to start up... it doesn't. The whole thing shuts down. I think a few other people have had the same problem, but I am yet to find an answer to solve this. Please help!
As of right now with the new version you don't need to touch the forge jar at all. I would suggest starting over then dropping Optifine in the mods folder and going that route. It works fine that way from what I can tell and as indicated on the op post. Use the latest version (#859 last check) since the recommended version isn't new enough to support Optifine being loaded this way.
Note to everyone: Removing the META-INF folder is no longer needed and shouldn't be done anymore at this point. This will also negate the need to add extra jvm options to the profiles.
There is an issue with more then 1024 textures in a single folder, it causes this exception:
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 1024
When lowering the number of textures in the folder, this error goes away and minecraft loads correctly. Here's a download to the texture files which causes this error: Tinkers Construct
Here's a link to the post where the testing was done: Post Link
When I set the Chunk Loading to Smooth, I get graphical flickering...a lot of it. But when I set it to Multi-Core (which I want to use), some mobs are not rendered and are invisible. You can't even hit them. Can you please look into this as nothing has changed for my graphics card. I'm using FTB Unleashed Pack (1.5.2).
EDIT: noticed that when set to Smooth, it sets itself to default when I log off and then on again.
EDIT 2: also, found out that on every Chunk Loading setting and using little to no textures at all, some mobs are not rendered.
I have a question for the developer. May I manipulate the installer so that it installs other mods and display it personally and/or publicly?
The installer is the mod. It copies itself to the proper location and sets up the profile/version for it. If you want to create your own installer, have a look at the Forge installer, its opensource and very moddable. I'm using it as a base to install my mod.
You managed to decompile and continue without me giving source code? O_O Bro, you are a god. Of course do whatever the [REDACTED] you want!!!! Good luck on it
So, the light edition won't work with Forge. So what, it won't work period? Great.
The Light edition does not work with Forge, because it is Light (simple, minimal changes).
If I make it Forge compatible then it will become quite heavy and complex.
Is there any possibility for me to get a .zip version of Optifine Ultra C4, I've tried installing my other mods on the .jar that the installer makes, but it either crashes or doesn't make a difference to what I do. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you can open the installer's jar file with any archiver and extract everything except the "META-INF" and "optifine" folders. this way you will get the files needed for an old manual installation
The following bit of CTM works fine with MCPatcher, but doesn't function with Optifine. I'm using OptiFine_1.6.2_HD_C4 installed with Forge #830. All the rest of the CTM works as expected, except using "default" as an image identifier under "tiles=...." doesn't work, but that's not too hard to work around.
What do i need to do to make this simple CTM work with Optifine?
EDIT: and where can i find about about the differences in what Optifine and MCPatcher allow in the .properties files?

Added to TODO list.
Yes, and you will take heavy damage from the intense radiation fallout if not protected and at least a foot and a half of lead shielding.
Short answer: won't know until you post your system specs.
Life is a Learning Curve....
Unfortunately, you're stuck on the bottom...amongst the bones of the stupid.

Very easy installation as well, and I used the Magic Launcher too.
