i just can't get A2 to work. using vanilla jar and magic launcher. all set up nicely and all other mods deactivated. when i enable optifine the game starts fine but when i try to load my world the game is stuck forever at loading world. it's just not doing anything so i can't even provide a useful crash report.
edit: ha! updated to forge #779 and nothing changed. then i turned off forge and now optifine works.
well, well...looks like i'll have to wait some more.
I'm having a bit of a problem. I got OptiFine to work with forge. I have Forge set as my environment in magic launcher. But when I try to add Better World Generation 4 (which requires forge) it says "no Forge" for status. I tried launching it anyway, and the game exits after the title screen. I tried adding BWG4 to the mods and/or coremods folder, but no luck.
He has them checked off that means he is done with that go look he only has 3 things to work out better grass works fine. I don't know it is nice to have my fps boost again. I'm just saying it is checked off his list it would be nice to know the new folder and file layout even if all that stuffs not ready.
I just went back and looked. My apologies, man. I know what you mean, this 1.6.2 update is a huge change.
But the point of Magic Launcher is to not have to do anything else than add it there... Going around between this and that, and this and that just install a single mod... No matter how epic it may be, is alittle ridiculous
The installation is complicated becasue of Forge. It needs a very special installation procedure that is not compatible with anything else.

Is there any way to modify optifine to be able to see under-lava again? that was a good option to have, or is there any mod out there to be able to see under lava ? thx.
For those who are having a Bad State error, I resolved it as follows. Instead of merging the assets folder with the one included with the Optifine download, I replaced it, which is not what you want to do. The solution for this is to merge the two folders, where you will add the two additional folders included with Optifine to the rest of the folders in the appropriate directory. Seemed to fix it, at least on my system, which is OS X 10.9.
I wonder there fancy fog is still missing in 1.6.2 i tried to set it in optionsof.txt but it looks like the fast fog.. can someone tell me has it the same? (btw. I already deleted optionsof.txt but still don't working)
@Drignio, the mod was migrated from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2 (Look in spoiler in the first post)
It is also files in a resource pack combined with Optifine that allow such a thing to happen.
Actually, with Optifine 1.5.2 D3 and lower when turning Fog: OFF, you would be able to see under lava, on D5 was updated that Fog would not affect under-water/lava, I really want an option to turn off the fog under-lava as well.
Just thought I should mention that lava and water still seem to be animated even when the option is set to off. Considering this is the biggest fps boost I get it would be nice if it worked.
Using completely vanilla minecraft with just OptiFine.
Random note... Enchanted items being held seem to lag like crazy, not sure if this is OptiFine or a 1.6 thing.
There's currently a weird performance issue that wasn't there before (at least, for me). After talking in the game chat for a while, the FPS drops two times down when the chat is on foreground. Has anyone else met this issue?
PS: no other mods installed
is almost always returning the same number

How is this an Optifine issue?

Windows 7 64bit. I recommend fixing this.
If you use the Magic Launcher to install OptiFine, it's mega easy, but you have to use the magic launcher every time to run Minecraft.
It you do the hard way, you can play it with the regular launcher.
Am I correct here?

Download OptiFine 1.6.2 A2.
