YEAH why not. you should go have a talk with Lemming from Thermal Expansion and ask him about the boys who code all the UE mods, from what i gather its not pretty and that coming from one of the best modders thats very lag aware about his coding he even bashed on Elo for item filters code being sloppy. so that in itself could be the problem personally i think UE is poop but hey thats my opinion. another example is ars magicka always has major issues because of mithions way of coding stuff, wonder why the mods mentioned are not on forgecraft? and most of those guys dont even run Optifine.
I mostly wanted to post i got a link to FTB and installed it with optifine and im still having no problems but the fast chunk glitch on multicore loading and thats fixed by using default as said. also they have 82 mods, currently last night after updating forge i am at 94 must have been a bug in forge i was using.

just did a test because i forgot
on normal MC FTB renderer (far distance all max) i get 40-60 average with trees and clouds in view.
On OF FTB (all max normal renderer (MC vanillas Far)) i get 60-85 same situation, i dont see a problem maybe you guys need to update drivers or your pc.
Again one more, OF FTB - normal renderer, made trees fast, killed clouds and fog... easy 95-120 average thats double for my pc (4 years old) compared to vanilla just by shutting of fancy trees and fog and clouds
you guys are aware 1.5.2 has terrible FPS problems anyways right? and translucency rendering (trees on fancy and clouds/fog etc) in MC... well i dont have enough motivation to go on about that one.
MAYBE, I don't know but MAYBE you should read the options you activate.. ¬¬

is something worth trying.
The biggest improvement I've found has been from the "Chunk-Loading" setting, putting it to multicore made it loads better, and borderline tolerable. But it's still quite noticeably slower to load chunks than vanilla minecraft.
I appreciate your suggestions. I'll have a look at the firmware drivers, meanwile, I'll also reupdate my java to java 7 - since I downgraded to 6 to see if my problem would be fixed.

The rendering glitch with UE mods is most likely due to the fact Optifine isn't updated to Forge 712+ builds.
There is something really weird going on with Custom Colors and custom lightmaps, and I reported this before and I have no idea what happened to it. Basically, I switched to a texturepack with a custom lightmap and it behaves very weird. I will shot in pictures:
On bright brightness: Custom colors OFF:

It fixes itself if I restart minecraft and already have the TP selected. If I just switch to it it just messes up like this.The "shadows" "flicker" or "flimmer" alot, dunno if that's just how minecraft is though.

If I have the TP selected when starting minecraft, it also spamms my console with

to fix that, I just go onto TPs and select the TP again so it reloads.

The game is trying to render textures at a different resolution than it was patched for. The patcher replaces the default Minecraft textures and this is the only supported use case at this time. Either delete options.txt or switch back to the default texture pack before patching. This will be fixed in future versions.
Edit2: This post says he allocated lesss than 512 MB, that's how much I have allocated. I guess I should allocate like 1024 and see if that fixes it :/

First off, huge thanks to the author for making a mod that makes Minecraft PLAYABLE on my laptop
Just wanted to share a way to get Optifine and Better than Wolves (I used v4.83) working together. After installing modloader, add optifine (I used 1.5.1 D1 Ultra), run it, and disable random mobs. Then add better than wolves, but without bfr.class and bfz.class. It should start up with all (maybe) features working fine. I haven't actually tested anything apart from placing hoppers and such though

They merged into one edition, Ultra. You can select if you want Default, Smooth or Multi-Core chunk loading.
