When you say the cutting edges don't work, does Minecraft actually crash or are the results worse than OptiFine Standard? Cuz I might just be overlooking things but it seems like OptiFine Smooth is laggier than Standard o.O
IF YOU HAVE A BEAST COMPUTER DONT GET! I GOT 982 FPS max w/out this and it brings it down to 580 on same settings! also when i put on fast debug screen it brought fps down to 300... It seems it is working in reverse... only reason i got it is so i can record stuff on the same harddrive by slowing down save time.
EDIT:if i raise mipmap it doubles fps..
Yea, you going "it is so!" doesn't really prove ****. Error logs of all kinds are needed.
EDIT: Just did a test. modloader, Forge 3.2.4 and Optifine Standard B2. Works just fine.
Gimme a while. But you shouldn't be using modloader with forge, since now they have their own modloader. Remove ML and check it out. EDIT: Forge AFTER Standard is working. Forge BEFORE Standard is NOT working: log: http://pastebin.com/GtAse1FQ EDIT 2: Forge BEFORE Smooth NOT working. log: http://pastebin.com/9Z2SnrdN
EDIT 3: For OptiFine/Forge 3.2.4.x compatibility, install Forge AFTER OptiFine.
It's less of a shouldn't and more of a "you don't have to" (though I still don't quite get the point of forge making a modloader when modloader exists already anyway)

The whole yelling at others not to touch something when it's just not working for you when you haven't tried much in the way of figuring out the issue and the vast majority of people see a sizeable improvement is getting a little tired.
Hah, I've never even seen 300fps, let alone 982fps, and I'm pretty sure there is actually no discernible difference (from a human standpoint viewing it) between the two unless you have a monitor from the future as well as superhuman eyesight (could be wrong, but I did a bit of googling of the topic to confirm it and generally that seems to be the case). That said, it doing basically the opposite of what it should is very, very odd, do check all the settings, try re-downloading and reinstalling (preferrably with a fresh .jar file), and then try another version.
If you're using a beast computer though, given that'd imply multiple cores, if you aren't already, try the multithreaded version.
FYI, ModLoaderMP is in Forge, not ModLoader. ModLoader is still needed and will be for a while. If you are installing mods, install Optifine last and all textures should work, unless you install it wrong, then it is not my problem.
I'm getting a strange set of graphical errors when using this mod with the default texture pack.

is true. Even with the latest 3.2.4.X versions. Which you shouldn't be using anyway. There's never any reason to download anything else but the recommended.
And just because Forge no longer needs modloader doesn't mean it's incompatible or that any other mod doesn't need it.
The Latest version of Forge {Build 110+) is not compatible with Optifine because we have switched to using Forge ModLoader. LexManos has been trying to work with sp614x over the last few weeks to make it simpler for him to make Optifine compatible. He just needs to sit down and do it. In its current state its just a few hooks. As for why would you ever use anything but the recommended version of Forge, People need to test out the latest versions and report back to LexManos so that he knows of bugs and can fix them. So that when he does promote the recommended build, it is not riddled with bugs. And the ModLoader compatibility, Anything that works with ModLoader should also work with the latest Forge. If it does not, submit bug reports and they will fix it as soon as they can. There is no way for them to fix something that they don't know is wrong.
It doesnt need mod loader, but it works fine with it. Whatever mods you're using, make sure that Optifine is installed last on your list, and that it is compatible with the mods you're using. For example, you shouldn't use HD texture fix and Better grass with Optifine, as Optifine already covers both.

ModLoader is no longer needed as of 3.2.4.x.

FYI, ModLoader is in Forge since commit #109.
Assuming you've installed it right, (i.e., after Forge/ModLoader) - disable RandoMobs, or use non-MT version.
Well, that's old and well-known one.
