How to install optifine for 1.6.2 Manual installation:
Windows/Linux Instructions:
1) Go to your versions folder in %appdata%/.minecraft/versions/
2) Duplicate the folder of 1.6.2
3) Rename the folder and the files inside. I.E: Optifine. They need the same name otherwise it won't work.
4) Open the .jar file in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc)
5) Delete the META-INF folder.
6) Copy (drag and drop) the .class files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file, replacing previous files.
7) Open up the .JSON file in notepad and on the top you will see
"id": "1.6.2",
Rename the 1.6.2 to your folder, jar and .json name.
8) Launch Minecraft.
9) Go New Profile and give it a name.
10) Now under "Use version" you will see
"Release Optifine"
We're all using this way. There is no other way to install.
I have the same problem :/

The Obfuscated Class name is "ats.class" Line 378
I don't feel like decompiling with MCP so you will have to find the actual class name yourself.

He forgot the trailing slash after " items/bed "
Not sure if it's that simple. I would guess you have to compile the entire mod again...
