Don't get me wrong but, telling a developer to make a feature basically the same as another mod, that's asking to basically copy it and, as far as I'm aware, sp614x doesn't copy others. Instead, he makes his own features
If you have issues with CTM with Optifine, simply use MCPatcher to achieve the results you want and use Optifine to increase fps without forgetting to turn off CTM so both don't interfere with each other.
He seams to be copping features as it is, He is just still using the number ID's not the text ones, and missing a few new ones, I thought his goal was to make optifine compatible with MCPatcher texture packs, I may have thought wrong, but that's what I thought.
As for the MCPatcher and optifine thing, I was unaware one could use both, thankyou for informing me of that.
This MCPatcher + Optifine thing is causing me some trouble, clearly it's not advertised because it's difficult and finicky. I started up MC with just Optifine, to turn off CTM, then patched my forge profile with MCPatcher, selecting only the CTM related fetures, witch produces this crash report:

If you have seen them work together, can you tell me what versions of each and the specific procedure you used, Thankyou for your help.
I must add that this crash may be caused by MCPatcher and one of my other mods, as I did not test Just MCPatcher and Optifine together. I also have installed Mapwriter, Invintorrytweaks, NEI + ChickenBonesCore, and WAILA. But from my experience most of these mods have a fairly good reputation for compatibility. I should also add that this setup was working before using MCPatcher so it may well be one of the other mods and not optifine.
Fair enough, I'll just have to use Optifine without Patcher for now, and live with broken CTM until Optifine is updated to be more compatible with new CTM texture packs. Thanks anyway.

I started up MC with just Optifine, to turn off CTM, then patched my forge profile with MCPatcher, selecting only the CTM related fetures, witch produces this crash report: --SNIP--

Try installing Optifine after MC patcher. That may be your issue. If not, I wouldn't be able to help you, The last time I used these mods together was in Minecraft 1.5. XD
I've got a question. This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to install Optifine with MultiMC. I need to have multiple installations of Minecraft to keep my mods separate, and so far this is the only functional way I've found to do it. However, Optifine seems to only work with the official Minecraft launcher. I've tried everything I can think of, but every time I try to install OF, the game crashes.
I am using version 1.6.4 of Minecraft. I have Forge installed, and I'm using the Life in the Woods modpack (http://phedran.com/LifeInTheWoods). Those are the only other things installed. Please, please, please tell me there is a way to get Optifine to work on this. I'm nearing wall-punching levels of frustration after trying an entire day to get this to work, and failing consistently.
If using Forge and or Liteloader, you just drop Optifine in the mods folder.
Just tried adding Liteloader in addition to Forge, but it still doesn't work. Minecraft crashes instantly when I try to load it.
The Optifine .jar file appears to be an installer, though it will only install to the official client. Do I have the wrong file?
EDIT: I just tried downloading a different version of Optifine and it finally seems to be working! I guess maybe there was just something wrong with that file. Thanks for trying to help! Much appreciated.

If you downloaded the mirror (which you should always do, in most cases) it should be a .jar. You just drop the .jar into the mods folder. If you want to use the installer, then try selecting the Optifine version that matches your forge version when installing forge.
Also, don't use lite loader unless you like it. I find it to be a bit rubbish at times.
Yup, I edited my post just before you posted: I tried a different version of Optifine and it worked fine. I was using "1.6.4_L_C9", which is the one listed at the start of this thread for 1.6.4, but then I went to the Optifine download page and got "1.6.4_HD_D1" and that one worked just fine. At last! I've spent my entire evening and night on this, and now have no time to play! I'll have to give it a thorough "testing" after work tomorrow...
Well it said it was for 1.6.4, the version I need, but I guess maybe the one I was using wasn't compatible with the version of Forge i have, or something.
Found a bug... I'm not sure what business Optifine has with the Jukebox but it breaks any forge mod with custom records. If the record's ogg isn't stored in mojang's primary domain of "minecraft" then a method call to getRecordResource needs to return the real resource location of the ogg file. Optifine prevents that call. Can this be fixed?
Yeah Optifine is breaking a ton of my mods. Which is a freakin' pain. I love optifine, but my machine has plenty of power to run without it. Which I'd choose to --- stop using optifine over 4 or 5 other mods .... including biomes o'plenty. Which adds way more fun content than optifine.
Please maintain comparability with forge-mods with custom records.
I am crashing using OptiFine 1.6.4 HD U D1 with my modpack (Yogscast Complete Pack on ATLauncher). I managed to resolve the crash by patching OptiFine with optifinefml.7z (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1286604-shaders-mod-v2-3-18-updated-by-karyonix?page=231#c4739); it was possibly a conflict with Ars Magica 2, as this solution is posted in their FAQ. However, using this OptiFine patch limits me to using a much older version of Shaders Mod (v2.0.1 beta 18). Using the most recent version of Shaders Mod (with patched OptiFine) gets my client stuck on a blinking/flickering screen on world load, exactly like this player: . There is no crash nor subsequent crash report (I can still hear Minecraft music at the blinking screen). His or her solution is to change fboEnable to true in root/options.txt; however, that parameter does not exist for me and the line disappears if I try to add it and then play.
Is there an FML patch for compatibility with the most recent versions of OptiFine and Shaders Mod? Otherwise, is there a better solution to getting OptiFine to work with my particular modpack? Any replies are greatly appreciated
Indeed. And if your issue was with the coloring of the biomes, that was answered in another post. I believe it had something to do with the 'Custom Colors' option. You may have to turn it off.
I am using optifine on MC 1.7.10 with the faithful 32 texture pack. When I have a block of glass in my inventory or hotbar it doesn't have a texture, but when I hold it in my hand or use it in a build it does. When I change back to default textures the glass texture in my inv/hotbar is just fine. It's kind of hard to find the glass back in my inventory and I keep placing other things on top of it because the square looks empty. On the Faithful thread someone said that I have to turn mipmapping of to solve this issue. I tried that and it brings back the glass texture indeed. I didn't have this issue with older optifine, and hope it can be fixed! Thank you very much!

Light is not better than standard. You will wand ultimate. Trust me on this, coming from a guy with a 400$ craptop, it'll help you way more than light or standard.
http://pastebin.com/nfdn5mhE - Optifine crashed this game for 1.7.2 for the newest version of Optifine for 1.7.2 and it hasn't done this to me in a while so I thought I would post this so you could get on this right away seeing as how this mod is not compatible with the Mantle or so it says

has anyone asked you for the source code and such for OptiFine? I know modders like mDiyo who makes Tinkers Construct says they don't support Opti cause it's closed source, if you just opened the source to ONLY the massively popular modders, maybe we would have less crashes...

When 1.8 comes out in a about a day, could you please update it as fast as you could, I wouldn't be able to play really because Minecraft lags real bad. I would get like 10 fps if I'm lucking. Also, this mod is GREAT. I would donate but don't have credit/debit card or anything like that.
