I really like this mod!
it really boost the performace.
But in order to change to a new version( actualization or from standard to smooth per example ), you need to have a clean jar?

Actually, if you have an old version of Smooth Optifine, for example, you can upgrade to the smooth edition of Optifine C3 without any problems. You only need a clean jar if you're either using Forge or changing editions of Optifine.

I can someimtes see through the ground (happens for 15+ seconds at a time) is there a fix?

I keep having a problem where Optifine causes my SSP (I haven't tried SMP yet) games to freeze. I'll be playing normally and after a minute or so (depending on the version of Optifine) the whole game will just freeze, regardless of if its paused, I'm playing, or in a menu. I have tried every possible graphic setting, with mods and with out, with magic launcher and without, the different versions of Optifine (Standard and Smooth just prolong the amount of time it takes to freeze), and updating lwjgl, but nothing fixes it. The only thing that does fix it is uninstalling optifine, which I don't want to do because it does significantly improve my fps. If anyone could help, that would be great.

Aree you installing Optifine last? also what forge u using (and or modloader?) we need details or your crash log...

Your using Multi-Threading version arent you? Turn off Hyper threading in your video card panel.



Q- Anything I can do to solution the lag spikes? I get 135+ fps and ive tried everything but they still persist. I even tried the most pure fresh install of minecraft ever... (Fresh installed windows 7 and MC.) tried vsync and ext... even lowest settings lag spike.

Yes I am. I haven't bothered to use forge with this yet, and with Modloader I'm using the version for 1.2.5. I don't get any crash logs because it doesn't crash, it just freezes. As for more details, I'm not sure what else I can give you. I'll be running fine at about 8-20 fps and I think about 8-20 chunk updates, and then everything just freezes without any indication. Like I said, I've tried every option and stuff and I always get this, but its doesn't happen when I get rid of Optifine.

I can't take a screenshot or use printscreen when its frozen, but I'll give you all the data that was on the debug screen when it froze. The only mod I have on atm is Standard Optifine. As for the graphics settings, I freeze no matter what they are but I have everything set at sort of a low to mid level with the weather off.

Idk what most of that means, but maybe it'll help you guys figure out whats wrong

minecraft.jar is already patched with MCPatcher.
Start with a fresh minecraft.jar and install OptiFine last.

well i needed it for a texture pack apparently. but shouldn't i install optifine first? i mean since i might get more mods later

I noticed with the new version that when I place blocks, I get lag spikes and my FPS starts to drop. Normally, I'm between 100 and 115 FPS (give or take).

This really helped my lag on servers >.< so fanks :3

The author states that his texture pack works correctly only with mcpatcher, but it hangs all my mods, in addition, to my great optifine fps. Please tell me how to solve the problem. Apologies for possible broken English, I speak Russian, and use google translator.
